Yeesh... Can't say I blame you. Sometimes these things are nobody's fault. Doesn't make them any less horrific though, even if at the Academy we're taught to accept the high chance of losing comrades. When you've been through thick and thin with a team, they become like family, and if anything happened to one of them in that way... Well, it'd depend whether or not it was preventable. If it wasn't, I'd probably want to blame someone at first, but hopefully Kazemi-sama's influence would help me forgive them. As awful as it'd be for everyone, it'd be worse for the one who caused it.

Do you have any religious, spiritual or philosophical beliefs? I know it's a bit of a personal question, but I grew up taught it's important to have some form of faith and guidance, so what do those things mean to you?

Couldn't that be handled either by utilizing a brain computer interface (or at least partially offloaded), or by altering a person's neural structure? Granted, the latter if possible is probably highly illegal, black boxed, and likely a thing only the AI controlling Geonet knows how to do. That and it would render anyone undergoing the procedure completely unrecognizable to who they were before, if they even still think or function like anything remotely human.

I'm going to guess that's what NoCo means by loss of humanity - at a certain point, the brain would have to be altered to handle all those cybernetics.

So… I explained it very poorly here, but one of the “rules” in this universe is that there are “tiers” to cybernetics. The more vital an organ you’re replacing, the more of your ‘humanity’ you’re trading away. Most ModDocs view this code as a Hippocratic Oath of sorts where they will try and encourage less drastic mods, but there are some who just don’t really care and will do whatever so long as you pay.

Hmm, wondering how that'd affect my character, since a synthetic or at least modified vital organ is part of her backstory. The idea is that she was born with a potentially life-threatening illness, such as heart disease, and in order to pay for her surgery, a parent resorted to theft/embezzlement and got arrested for it. She ran away from the care system, choosing to disconnect from Geonet and live with other street kids, helping others via illicit means as she was once helped.

What effect would, say, an entire artificial heart have on her? Or it could just be a replacement valve, or something of the sort.

"No blowing up buildings on our watch!" Kazemi's warning ringing painfully true, Kaida leapt aside from the inferno and shot a jet from the water orb at the blazing wall. Steam billowed through the hall with a loud hiss. Grunting, Kaida re-condensed the water, putting in all her effort even as blisters erupted all over her arms. Keeping it in liquid form was no easy task in this sheer heat. "Ngh... You alright, Natsumi?" she wheezed through the smoke.

Her hands and forearms seared in agony, but she couldn't spare any of the water to heal herself, not yet. As the flames died down, she spun round and redirected the stream, sniping a fireball out of the air. Unwilling to risk flying - wind would just fan the fire - she sprinted as close as was safe to the nearest burning wall and sent the deluge in its direction.

A glance over her shoulder revealed Natsumi and Kaeru were launching a dual assault on the Monster-class demon. Meanwhile, it was on her and Kazemi to keep the building from coming down on everyone's heads.

Technically speaking, my nocturnal tendencies! I've been more of a night owlette ever since awakening as a Mystic, it's the cait in me. When most everyone's sleeping, I like to explore the grounds with Kasp here, climbing trees and sneaking up on groundskeepers to pull pranks on them. Hey, gotta practice my stealth skills!

As for worries and such... Ehh, sometimes I have nightmares about accidentally hurting people. It happened once before, the guy was a jerk, but still. That's what Harold's is for though, making sure people have a handle on their magic, even if the teachers are sticks in the mud. Other than that, I'm fearless, rawwwrrr! I totally don't fear failing to earn my family's approval, or being a target for bullies, or anything of the sort...

If you heard an interesting rumour, would you investigate or ignore it?
