Scar

While the others seemed to be pondering the situation at hand, perhaps stricken with concern and worry about what the future may hold, worrying about what was happening beneath them on the lower levels and if they could actually survive this situation, but Scar was completely unpertubed by it all. Scarily and unnaturally so. In fact, right now he was kicking back on one of the beds and having a snooze. This was the best thing to have happened since he joined this motley crew to be honest.

He didn't have to do shit right now, he could sleep all day and no one would care. This truly was bliss. There was only one thing that ruined this little vacation for Scar right now....And that was the loud rumbling of his stomach. That fucking asshole of a warden, Scar could live with being locked up like some animal but to at least not give them a speck of food? That drove the kitsune up the wall. Even more so than his comrades, each one a woman and each one more annoying than the last. At least, to him anyway.

Finally, his eyes flew open as he leapt to his feet. Ok, he was beyond starved and he didn't give a fuck about guards or no guards. These gals could stay here and rot for all he cared, he needed to find a sandwich or something.
"Ok you stupid little bitches." With one swift kick, Scar kicked open his cell door with extreme ease. The rusted and neglected lock stood no chance against him, it wasn't even worth the effort to picklock to be perfectly honest. "I'm not sure what you three are exactly waiting for, but I'm fucking hungry and want to drive my sword through that fuckwit warden's head. You can either stay here and rot, or come along. I honestly couldn't care which you choose, just don't get in the way." Making sure his voice was loud enough for them to easily hear them, he walked over to the other two's cell and gave them a look that clearly said 'what are you two idiots doing' before pointing to the lock.

"This giving you two dunces a hard time? You're more incompetent than I thought." With an irritated shake of his head, he kicked the lock clean off. These locks were so rusted and neglected, a simple flick might've done the job to be honest. But he felt better kicking them, and gosh darn it that was all that mattered.
"If you're coming, hurry up. I'm hungry and don't have all day." With an annoyed grumble, he scanned their surroundings to see where the closest doorway or stairway was. He didn't quite remember the interior of the prison to be honest, he hadn't been fucked to learn it properly. He didn't dream that he needed to break out after all.
Elizabeth, Kat and Megu

"Idiotic curr." If looks could kill, Kat might be dead. Such was the look of disgust and annoyance shot Kat's way by Elizabeth. Why her father dealt with this....'mans' stupidity and incompetence were beyond her. Perhaps her father just found him amusing, for she doubted it was out of kindness. Her father was a ruthless man after all.

Megu ushered her out of the room before she could really say anything at Kat, who was scolded for being late along with the others. The fox boy visibly shaking, saluting the Supreme Being. "O-of course Lord Volaris! I will endeavour to do so!" Bless the Supreme One's that Volaris didn't smite him for having been late to his summoning. It wasn't like Kat had been napping at the time or anything, nor was it that the shock of Baron's voice had made him tumble out of a seat and knocking over all the boxes in the mail room at once so he had to clean up the mess before he got here. That was absurd. It was definitely because he was the weakest of the guardian NPC's and had lower movement speed. Yep, that was totally it. Anything else was a slanderous lie!

Having received his orders, still with little to no understanding of the situation bar the fact that it was obviously a severe one, Kat nodded like he understood everything and made his way over to Baron. Not only was he spared, but he had orders to boot? Today just got better and better despite the....poor start. And maybe he could learn more about the situation from Baron or Anna...
"Uh, so Baron, what exactly are we looking for?"

Having left the Scrying Chamber, Elizabeth teleported the duo back to their floor to make their preparations. First, Megu made sure the security had sealed the place down tighter than Alcatraz. While the Demon went about that task, Elizabeth made sure to get changed into more...'plain' attire. Seeing as Lord Volaris wished for her to be more of the stealthier approach. She simply just got into the clothes which her father had given her for her birthday, the 'Magical School Clothes' as her father had dubbed them. Why it was so, was beyond her understanding. She never believed she could understand such an intellectual creature such as a supreme being, let alone her father, so there was no need to. Instead, she had taken the clothes with glee and wore them on almost every occasion that didn't require some of her more formal or flashier attire.

Surely this was 'plain' enough? If not, Volaris would have a hard time convincing her to wear anything else. Though she did throw a dark, hooded cloak over the top. By this time, Megu had returned and had changed herself. Both in attire, and physical appearance. Her horns were gone, and her usually duo coloured hair was instead just plain jet black. Her skin was no longer pale with black veins pulsating throughout, but instead a much healthier shade that was almost even tanned. Though her red eyes remained, they looked less..evil and demonic and more human than before. Her attire consisting of a simple tunic and adventuring trousers. She also wore a matching hooded robe to that of Elizabeth.

Yes, that was right, despite her usual form being more human than not she had felt the need to change to an even more human form. She could've kept her hair the same or changed it to pure white, but she had decided this stood out far less than either of the other two options. Besides her unnatural beauty, she seemed perfectly human.

"I have finished adding the additional security measures my lady, as well as having instructed the maids to begin preparing some supplies for the road. You just need get anything you think they or myself may have overlooked, or take a few moments to clear your mind. I will come for you when we are ready to depart or Lord Volaris calls for us." With a bow, Megu then left the room so as to oversee the preparations. Some of the maids were questionable in their effeciency after all, at least to Megu.

How had she ended up in this mess?

That was the thought at the forefront of the little girl's mind as, teeth clattering and body shivering violently the entire time, she traversed the snowy terrain that surrounded her. It was a simple enough answer, for the most part. She had been outside the guild-hall doing a few menial tasks when suddenly the entire terrain had simply....transformed. Instead, she and the guild hall were atop a snow mountain. Well, to be precise she was tumbling down a ravine away from the guild hall because the ground beneath her was suddenly gone. Not a fun trip, but the loli was tough and had healing spells so thank the lord she hadn't fallen much further. She barely survived as is, but now faced the bigger problem that was the cold.

See, her cloth armour was handy dandy in combat. Which was what she was effectively designed for. But dealing with extreme weather, like this freezing cold atop a mountain? Yeah, it really didn't help all that much. But she somewhat knew her way back up as she slowly scaled the slippery terrain around her. Each cautious step hopefully taking her closer to the safety and warmth of her master's home.

Hopefully.

But that was when she heard a few voices. Perking up at the familiarity of the sounds she heard, she hastened her ascent back up and hauled her tiny frame towards the voices. That was Master Merius! And...Master's Kira and Nebuchi?
When she finally got up the mini-cliff she had been climbing, all she saw was the wolf Femto. Was it her, or did it seem fatter than usual? Not saying that a companion to one of her masters was fat usually of course! But...uh...well.

Banishing the argument she was having internally from her mind, she contemplated the situation. If Femto was here, then Merius wouldn't be far off. So she should just go see what the snow wolf was up to then. She totally didn't want to pat and nuzzle it or anything. Banish the thought!

"Yo! Femto!" She yelled loudly, flailing her arms around like a madwoman and making enough racket to wake the dead. "Whatcha doing?!"

Jasmine Lockwood and Rajah

@MarshiestMallow
While Ryujin couldn't see the frown form, between his link with Jasmine and the link he was now forming with Penny it wasn't hard to work out how the girl was feeling about this development. That, and he knew for a fact that Jasmine had failed to communicate with Penny about this issue.
"I do apologise for the young one's lack of...communication about my existence. She has yet to realise that only she could hear me for the most part. Hence why I asked her to hand you the pendant." His words were followed by a sigh. Jasmine was reasonably smart for the most part, but she was rather naive and ditzy at times. Quite often at times, and that coupled with her meek persona made for a frustrating combo. Luckily, Ryujin literally had all the time in the world. Being deceased had its perks.

“Of course child. I prefer it that way, to be honest, it’s something I am desperately trying to teach young Jasmine here as well...to no avail.” At Penny's suggestion of their conversation being relayed through telepathy, Ryujin had no qualms. It was how he would be ‘talking’ to her after all, and only Jasmine could butt in on them here as well. He shared Penny’s dislike for the potential little disruption that was Rajah. If he was alive….

“That is good to hear. Jasmine is important to me as well, young slayer, more so than even she understands. Without her, I am merely an old soul in a dusty lacrima with no connection to this timeline...however, she makes me ‘alive’ again. As much as a dead, ancient dragon like myself can be anyway!” The hearty laugh that followed was deep and raspy. Yes, he was far older than anything that was probably alive currently as of this moment. Though he was effectively cheating with his soul the only thing that remained of him in this world.

Though, her next words bought his laugh to an abrupt and unnatural end.

Dead?

Solias was….dead?

Ryujin had figured, out of everything he had known back in his prime, that the Phoenix would be the only thing with a chance of still fluttering about. But to find out that even his old friend had passed was….upsetting. For a moment, she was met with nothing but silence. The dragon needing the moment to come to terms with this.

He might’ve asked how, when or why. Those sort of natural questions one might ask. But for a start, he had a suspicion based on how the Phoenix Slayer before him acted. It was confirmed as well by not only her own words but her showing of memories of the incident. Once upon a time, he might’ve been angry about this development. I mean, a daughter killing her own father? Such a thought was dreadful to dwell on.

However, it was clear from these memories...his old friend had finally reached the end anyway. He went out on his own terms, unlike Ryujin himself, so instead there was a pang of jealousy. It was typical of that Firebird. He always got things to work out somehow.

“That is...a shame.” He finally broke his silence, in a sombre tone. He had hoped to see his friend one more time, but alas it wasn’t to be. His last memory of him will always be that of the young and proud flames he produced, of their exploits together…

How fitting it was, that their legacies had once again met on the same path even after so many centuries. Though Jasmine seemed nothing like the arrogant, proud hatchling he was at his respective age. Penny was very much like Solias however, quite much so in fact. Maybe the term ‘daughter’ was more….accurate than one first thought. The memories he had seen had certainly hinted towards that conclusion.

“That silly old bird. What kind of father makes their child cry? He always was a selfish idealist. Even now I still don’t understand him truly.” A large form began to take shape in Penny’s mind, shaking it’s humongous shadowy head. “Do not apologise for following his request young one. It doesn’t matter if one is a phoenix, human or even a dragon. They all must reach their end someday...just some sooner or later than others. Your father was one of the few lucky ones who not only got to choose the time and place, but also the method to let his flame be extinguished.”

He was certainly jealous of the phoenix in that regard. As well as his way with words and bing able to comfort those around him. He didn’t quite have that same skill, but he would try nonetheless. For his friends sake.

By now, he had fully materialised in her mind and pointed a talon, which was larger than Penny such was the immense size of the ancient dragon, towards the Fire mage. “But death isn’t the end. For with his dying embers, he lit a new flame. You my dear. Grieve and mourn as much as you desire, but do remember that he chose this. Unfortunately, it means you must live with his selfish actions consequences, but he wouldn’t have asked if he didn’t think you couldn’t handle the burden.”

All the while, Penny needn’t have worried about holding back the tears at least in the case of Jasmine seeing them. She couldn’t see them through the tears that welled up of her own. She had heard everything. Seen everything.

Ryujin, in the emotion of the moment, had forgotten his link with his slayer. What he saw, she saw. What he felt, she felt. For without this connection, he was simply nothing but a spirit as he said. He needn’t any tools to communicate with her like he did with others. It doesn’t mean he couldn’t have stopped Jasmine from seeing what unfolded in his conversation with Penny, but he hadn’t thought to stop her from seeing either.

At first, Jasmine had turned bright red and buried her face into her hands as they spoke of her with such praise. She really didn’t deserve it, she wasn’t strong. Not at all, despite what Penny thought. And the embarrassment of having realised she was the only one who could have heard Ryujin this entire time...she wanted to curl up and disappear. She would have to apologise to Penny for that later.

Then when she heard the exchange about Penny’s father...her mind came to a grinding halt. That was shortly before she had met her hadn’t it? Penny had been dealing with that, while also dealing with her own problems that she had selfishly dumped on the S-class wizard? Jasmine knew she was a burden….but this took the cake.

Guilt, shame and embarrassment swirled around like a cocktail of negativity inside her. Jasmine was unsure which was the stronger emotion at this point. Not that it mattered much, for she knew she couldn’t mope around. She had done enough of that the last couple of months. Ryujin was right, her guild-no, her family needed her. And with whatever little strength she had, she would give it. She owed them, Penny, mostly, too much to turn tail and run. And now that she had reawakened her magic she might actually become more useful…

Maybe.

Hopefully. One could only hope at the very least.

Time was of the essence here. She needed to make sure that Penny was aware of her decision. But...she couldn’t find it in her to speak. Instead, she stepped forward, tears and embraced Penny out of the blue. Hiding her face in the older girl’s shoulder, though she was still visibly shaking from the tears she barely held back. She really needed to learn to stop crying so much.

“I-I’m sorry Penny! You...you went through all that, and still had the time and strength to help a selfish, useless nobody like myself back then...I’m sorry!”

With fistfuls of Penny' shirt in her clenched fists, the rest of what Jasmine said seemed to come out in a incomprehensible babble. She wasn't able to hold back the tears afterall.

“Of course I chew! How rude.” With a look of annoyance, Rajah crossed her arms and huffed as Iggy moved away for a moment. How dare he suggest that she have no manners! Oh, she’ll show him! Though the thought was quickly banished when food was presented.

“Ah, I knew I kept you around for a good reason Sir Ignatius.” With Iggy having returned with food, Rajah took it with a momentarily nod of appreciation before proceeding to scoff the food down in about half a second. The exceed could probably eat a dragon, such was her insatiable appetite.
Jasmine Lockwood and Rajah

@MarshiestMallow
"Hmph. I may be omnipotent, but I'm not immune to everything." Rajah huffed, arms crossed. Just who did this girl think she was talking to?! Sure, her magic seemed to be a little effective against her but she shouldn't get too cocky! She could wipe the floor with this Phoenix Slayer if she so desired, she...just happened to not want to! Yeah. Totally. That was it.
"I can eat just fine Sir Ignatius...speaking of which, I desire sustenance." Now that Iggy mentioned it, she was quite famished. Then again, when wasn't the little menace hungry was the bigger question at hand.

"I-I don't know. He just said he wanted to speak with...uh 'Solias's daughter'." Jasmine mumbled, bringing her hands back to her chest once the pendant was safely in Penny's hands. She felt...weird without the little piece of metal around her neck. More uncomfortable than usual. Why was that?

Once the pendant was in her hands, Penny would feel a tingling sensation spread throughout her body. The source quite clearly being the small piece of jewellery in her grasp. A peculiar, unassuming little piece of metal really. Though it had a gleaming, almost mystical sensation about it. A small jewel in the centre soon began to faintly glow, before soon a voice was heard.
"So you are the one known as 'Penny' I presume? Hmm...you certainly have the feel of your father about you. The young one has told me about you, and I have seen enough of her memories to assure me of the faith she has placed in you. I'm a little...envious even." A deep chuckle soon followed. "Excuse me, it would seem that my manners have forsaken me. I got excited as you remind me greatly of my old friend, though you are his daughter so it isn't a surprise. I am the Water Dragon; Ryujin. Tell me, how does your father fare? I haven't seen him in...oh, a few hundred years at least."
Jasmine Lockwood and Rajah

@MarshiestMallow
With the song over and Penny crouched down near the exceeds, Jasmine stumbled a little and blinked. She felt weird, and not from Penny's spell. Whatever that sensation from before was, it made her feel tired. Had she subconsciously used a spell to protect herself from the song? Or was it...
"Hmm, it seems like your body still isn't used to casting magic again just yet. In hindsight, it's not surprising." At first, the voice that suddenly appeared in her head startled her. But, much like magic, this was something she needed to get used to...again. Of course, it was Ryujin who cast the spell, Jasmine didn't know or remember how to at least.

"...Can you please give me some warning first Ryujin?" Mumbling softly, she sighed. She was appreciative of the help, but she would rather not feel so weakened all of a sudden either. When she heard Penny talking she snapped back to reality, trying her best to shake off this feeling.
"I-it's ok Penny. I'm sorry for provoking them...." That's right if she hadn't provoked the little exceed then maybe Penny wouldn't have had to use her sleep song on the creatures. Speaking of which, as Penny pointed out, around them were dozens upon dozens of those flying fish. All fast asleep as well. This was startling as neither Penny nor herself had obviously noticed them to this point....maybe that song was for the best.

"A-already?" She seemed surprised that they were returning to the guild on such notice. All because of a couple of flying cats they had just encountered? They had barely gotten here. I mean, it seemed that they had already completed their request. And it was also true that Jasmine wanted to get as far away as possible from this place. The heavy tension and fear of the place, let alone the paranoid and scary people that inhabited the town, really wore her down. They hadn't even found out what had caused the fish to act like this...
"It's wise to be cautious young one, but it's also sometimes best not to question such good fortune. You should listen to her." Nodding softly, seemingly out of nowhere to Penny as Jasmine hadn't caught onto the fact that only she could hear the dragon, Jasmine walked over and scooped up the two sleeping exceeds.
"I-if you say so Penny, i-it's your call. I was just tagging along after all." With a soft smile, she hugged the two fluffballs close to her. They were so soft and warm.

Whether it be out of consideration for Jasmine or not, they didn't travel the whole way by carriage. While that meant that they got back to Magnolia longer, it also meant that Jasmine wasn't going to be sick the entire way either. It also opened up more avenues for getting some magic control and training in for her newly reawakened magic. She got both tips from Ryujin and Penny, though she had yet to tell Penny of Ryujin's existence yet. So when she was talking aloud to him, having not realized she could just think back at him, Penny must've given her some concerned looks about her sanity. But considering Ryujin seemed to spend most of his time sleeping, it wasn't like it was a constant thing. Just constant enough to have a few questions marks over her sanity was all.

She also took turns with the older exceed on carrying the sleeping Rajah. She did feel a little sorry for the young exceed, basically being asleep most of the time and she was pretty angry about it too every time they woke her. But she made such a ruckus and fuss about everything, that if they hadn't the trip would be ten times longer....and a hundred times more annoying. For such a cute and adorable creature, she was one extremely angry existence.

They had finally reached the outskirts of Magnolia. For the last couple of hours, she had been mumbling and muttering seemingly to herself from Penny's perspective but had obviously been talking with Ryujin. One might think they would be talking about something serious, like her still not fully worked out memories, or her magic. But really, they were talking about...
"...How on earth do you find this creature adorable?"

"Come on...look at her. She's so cute and fluffy." Mumbling, Jasmine nuzzled against the top of Rajah's head.

"I beg to differ. May I remind you that she threatened to wipe you from existence?" With a heavy sigh, if he had a physical form he would be rubbing his temples right now. Such was the severity of a headache that threatened to form.

That's right, they had been arguing about this subject for the last 2-3 hours. Why? Well, because Jasmine wouldn't stop remarking about how adorable, fluffy and warm she was. And how much she wanted to keep her. With Ryujin trying his best to dissuade her simply based off of Rajah's terrible persona.

Luckily, they were disrupted by Penny coming over to them now. She seemed frustrated about something, which concerned Jasmine. Did they have to turn back? Hadn't they finished the request properly? Had she done something wrong? A lot of things went through her head, but it wasn't till Penny spoke that her thoughts were banished. And instead replaced by a sudden surge of fear and helplessness. Whatever was happening on the Island was of grave enough importance that several guilds had gone to deal with the menace. Penny's concern about it only adding to Jasmine's dread. Mostly that, even if she did go...what could she do?

"I-I..I don't know...I would be too much of a burden...wouldn't I?" Shivering from just the sheer fear of what could be on the Island, she shook her head furiously. No, she would be a burden. She couldn't go. She would only slow down the Phoenix Slayer, cost magic power she might need to help get there. And distract her when they got there, as she knew Penny would try and protect her. Jasmine could get her killed!

"WOULD YOU STOP DOING THAT YOU HEATHEN?!" Were the first words that erupted out of the little creature's mouth, the sudden screech hurting Jasmine's sensitive ears. With Jasmine instinctively covering them, Rajah dropped onto the ground and glared at Penny. She would make this bitch pay tenfold for putting her to sleep! (Numerous times)

"Hmph. I am ok Sir Ignatius, I worry for these two more. You're both so weak and pathetic. Of course, she's going; I've decreed it!" Jasmine looked down and blinked at Rajah. What on earth was she going on about this time?

"Dangerous? Bah, that Island will be nothing once I arrive. Damned dragons, thinking they can do as they please without my permission! I'll show them! And for that, you are needed!" She had heard everything, and she had learned of things from Iggy before they had met the two slayers. She wouldn't allow such a shameful display from her new champion! Pointing towards the blonde, Jasmine also pointed at herself with a blank look.

"M-me?"

"Yes, you. Who else would I be talking about?! Unfortunately, my powers are useless against a dragon, so to that end, I require your Slayer magic to get the task done for me! That should teach those whelps their place in the pecking order." With arrogance oozing off of each word, Rajah made her bold declaration.

"N-no way! I-I can't! I-I can't fight a d-d-dragon! I'm weak...useless...I would just get in the others way!" There were dragons on that Island?! Just the sheer thought of staring down a dragon sent shivers down her spine. There was just no way she could! Just the very thought petrified the poor girl.

"Of course you can fight a dragon! It's what your magic is for! Isn't that right, Sir Ignatius, heathen girl?" Rajah looked to the other two for support in her argument. She had honestly expected more from Slayers from what she had heard from Iggy. She had heard they were proud and ferocious warriors...not weak and cowardly mutts that ran away whenever danger reared it's ugly head.

"I'm telling you....I-I can't!"

"You are correct young one, you wouldn't stand a chance against a dragon as you are. Normally, I would be very much against the idea in fact." Ryujin's tone was soothing, though it didn't really have the intended effect. Making her feel worse and worse. She really was just baggage as she was, wasn't she? Though he hadn't quite finished. "However, who said you would be fighting alone? You'll have not only myself, but your fellow wizards by your side won't you? If the stakes are truly as high as they seem, our-no, your power will be needed."

His words made her blink a few times. Taking a few moments to sink in and digest. She was needed? She couldn't, wouldn't, believe it. She denied it with every fibre of her being. She couldn't remember a time when she wasn't weak and powerless, how could she ever help anyone? Let alone in a fight against a dragon, or multiple dragons!

"Pass your necklace to the girl. I wish to speak with Solias' daughter."

"W-what do you mean...Penny's right there Ryujin. And why my necklace?" His words once again left her puzzled. Why couldn't he talk to Penny as is? Couldn't she hear him? And wait...how did he know who Solias was? Jasmine barely knew who he was, and what she did know was whatever Penny had decided to tell her. Though Ryujin had gone silent and ignored her words. With a sigh and much reluctance, she reached behind her neck to remove the jewellery, slowly and carefully extending her hand out to Penny to take the pendant.
"Ryujin said he wanted to speak with you..."
