Diara found it difficult to keep her attention on superintendent King's briefing. With her hands in the pockets of her coat, she was looking around the crowd wondering who was there and who wasn't. She did her best to listen to King and whatever he had to say. But that man always made these briefings sound so boring, she was sure it would put even the most difficult babies to sleep. Sighing deeply, she tried her best to suppress a yawn.
Her eyes fell on a familiar face, but when she heard her name, Diara looked up at Superintendent King. When he called out her name and that of Ransom Hill and his partner, she knew it was him who she had spotted in the crowd of uniforms. She had worked with him a year when she came straight out of police academy. Diara had always enjoyed working with him, but when he got promoted she never saw him again. He hadn't changed much as far as she could see.
She made her way to King's office, moving through the crowd of people that were leaving the room. When she reached his office, Diara gave both the men a friendly smile. "Long time no see, Ransom."
She walked in when Hunt held the door open for her, taking a seat in one of the chairs in front of the desk. Crossing one leg over the other, she leaned back in the chair. When she saw superintendent King looking at her, she flashed him a friendly smile. She knew superintendent King was a Blutbad, a Wesen Diara feared. Getting on his bad side wasn't what she wanted, so she had to be on her best behavior around him. Then again, she also respected him, both as blutbad and as superintendent.
"Ten or eleven years?" Diara answered Ransom. She glanced at his partner and introduced herself to him. "You want us to work together?" She asked King. The uncertainty could be heard in her voice. This case made her a little uncomfortable because her sister Daya allegedly knew some members of the Freemantle Vipers. She had derailed from the path when she was a teenager and ended up dealing in drugs and hanging around with bad guys. Daria occasionally met up with her, but most of the time it was because she needed information from her. They didn't get along that well anymore. Because of Daya she found out some members were schakals, and that worried her. Knowing that her sister was hanging around with schakals, but also because schakals were usually violent and cruel. But at least this wasn't going to be a boring case.
