Bio

Hi hi hi there ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I am Maiden, aka Maiden of a Million Words. I've been a member of RPG since 2010, and before Guildfall I was a notorious long-poster with a post count over 3000. In recent years since I haven't done much roleplaying; I don't trust myself to post consistently for long periods of time. Instead, I've been writing short stories and novellas whenever I feel the urge to make magic with twenty-six letters. Still, fond memories and a sense of nostalgia keep me coming back to the ol' Guild... even if all I do is post a new signature set and have a bit of a read through Advanced.

I'm a middle-aged female currently living in the Southeastern United States. I have a pretty average/boring clerical job. In addition to writing and roleplaying I enjoy hiking, horseback riding, shooting, graphic art and napping. If there's something you'd like to know, feel free to PM me and ask... I'll get back to you eventually.

@ Elsa:

@ Tigre: I LoL'd at "angel disks." That man likes his pancakes way too much. Also, if Bernie was on the menu, she'd be shark soup. XD I like Dante's reaction to her, and I'm looking forward to writing her reaction to being flirted with by a human. I daresay it hasn't happened to her before, and Angkrillian courtship is far different than humans' so I think she's going to be rather confused! Thank you for posting, I'm excited that I get to write for Bernie, too! <3

So, I'm still working on the post. I slept late and had some distractions today... it's a holiday weekend so I'm all about relaxing and taking it easy. I've got a lot to write, and (as usual) it's longer than I wanted it to be. I'll have it posted before I go to bed tonight. :)
@ Pumirya: I didn't mean to imply that you weren't, just observing that I seemed to be the only thread member online at the moment. I always hate that feeling, like, "I am all alone here right now!!" XD

@ Tigre: Huzzah! I <3 posts.

Speaking of which... back to work!

Once a day, erry day. Such a sad and lonely thing, to be the only one online.

Post is underway. It won't be finished tonight, and I wouldn't bet money on seeing it tomorrow. But Saturday for sure, "Good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise," as they say around here.
@ Katelyn: What I meant was I'd seen your post about starting to work on your CS, and didn't realize you'd posted again with the CS. It just shows that you have the newest post on the thread, and I thought it was still the same post you'd made earlier. Double post = back to back post, I didn't mean two of the same.

As I said before, I like what I see! :) Unless I'm mistaken (which I don't think I am) Lia is the first proper Elf in Twisted's history. I like Tolkien's take on Elves, and I'm glad to see someone playing an OC individual from a canonical race. Furthermore, you've given yourself a very natural opening to get on Buck's good side. I suspect Bernadette will like her also: the physical appearance will likely put her in mind of a Land-Dwelling Angkrillian. You've got a nice balance on the illness: she's distinctly sick but not unplayable. Her three personalities seem to sort of balance one another out: she'll be able to have crazy withdrawn time and solid interaction time. I'm impressed and interested!

@ Elsa: I really do hate to hear that you're having such a rough time right now. I've struggled with mental illness myself in the past, and if you ever need someone to talk to it would be my honor to lend an ear. Don't lose faith in yourself: we all struggle sometimes, and something as simple and seemingly small as a lack of focus can really derail your studies at school or projects at work. I know you well enough to know that you're an intelligent and talented young woman. Don't let a few bad grades make you think you're not!! I hope things get better for you very soon!!

Thank you for letting me know what's going on in your life. I'll move Sasha out of play, and whenever you feel like you're ready to come back we'll take a look at how to work her back in.

This is where I put my GM Hat on.

Currently, my only active players are Pumirya and Tigre. Pum, I know you're stuck waiting on interaction. I'm almost ready to start my next post. I'll be sending Cadie your way. (No Jax, you'll see why. XD) Tigre, you can reply to the post I wrote just for you any time. *cough* I'm just trying to keep you and Pum from getting too bored while I sort this inactive player mess. Thank you both for being so patient!

Katelyn, I'll give you an official verdict whenever the history is posted. I'm going to be starting a new IntChk/Recruiting thread in the next few days, so as long as Lia's done by the time the other new CS are finalized, I'm a happy camper.

Oblivion, I'm putting you on LOA with Elsa, and I'll go ahead and move Anya to her room in my next post.

Vampiric, Syblyx, and Kally (Cjayxo): Some of you have been active on other threads, and some of you appear to not have been on RPG at all. Either way, both my roll call and my PM's have gone unanswered. I know that I am partly to blame for the level of inactivity on these threads the past few weeks. Had I known I was about to change jobs I probably would have delayed starting this RP... but it is what it is. What matters now is that I'm running on all my cylinders and ready to move this game forward. I can't do that with two active players.

As per OOC Rule Number Three, clearly stated on the third post of this goode OOC, all your characters are now belong to me. The loss of players is actually built into this roleplay as an element of the game, and while I hadn't anticipated having to make the first cut this early on, it's totally workable.

Your characters will be puppeted out of the Cafeteria, and briefly through the rest of their Institute tours. They will be returned to their rooms. Some of them may simply be exhausted by the stress of the new environment and decide to take a nap. Others may decide to act a fool and get a heavy dose of sedatives... or hallucinogens. (Because that's how we roll here.) Either way, they will all slip into comas. If Twisted's history is any indicator, that will be the end of that. Should any of you ever wish to return to Twisted, we can discuss whether or not I'll let you have your patient back. Because I'm evil like that. >:D

And now I've eaten up a lot of time with this gigantic rambling OOC post, and need to brainstorm about what happens next IC. I shall bid you all goodnight, and if you’re interested, have a listen to one of my favorite theme songs for the RP.

In this house on a hill,
The dead are living still.
Their intention is to kill
And they will… they will.

Sweet Cheesus this is long, sorry for potato again!

Edit: Shin, in that case I'll just mark you down as a lurker. Welcome? XD
Ah, Katelyn, I didn't realize you'd double-posted with the CS! NewGuild is tricky like that sometimes. XD

It's late and I'm really tired, so I'll make a proper reply tomorrow. Suffice to say that I very much like what I see so far and I'm looking forward to reading her history!

In other news, I didn't finish Bernadette tonight. I had too much other ish to do. Sorry for potato, and thanks for understanding, Pumirya.

Now... sleeps.

The girl with furry ears and a furry tail wasn’t the only patient who liked raw fish for breakfast. Hers were small and silvery, where Bernadette’s was big and bright blue with lime green stripes, but the Angkrillian was still relieved to see someone else finally choose the same item as she did for breakfast. Though she wanted to go introduce herself to the feline woman, Bernie had more pressing matters to attend. Just as soon as she’d finished wolfing down her meal, she just had to visit the pool. Bernie’s skin was already itching from the lack of submersion. If she didn’t spend at least an hour every day in the water, her iridescent blue skin would crack and leak silvery blood.

The nurses seemed to like her blood: they thought it was pretty. Since it wasn’t red, they didn’t seem to realize that it was still her life flowing out of her crispy flesh. Or maybe they did, and just didn’t care.

The pool at Osmond’s Institute had clearly been designed with Earth’s mermaids in mind, but could be altered to suit the needs of most semi-aquatic species. The salt content of Engalaste’s seas was significantly lower, and it was laced with minerals that would only be found on worlds distinctly extraterrestrial. The staff at the Institute adjusted the water for her the first day, a small blessing she’d never stopped being grateful for.

After a brief soak (Bernie broke up her swims into five or six twenty minute increments a day) she was padding back through the hallways, barefoot and dripping wet. All her life she’d worn clothes that went easily from land to water and back again… taking them off and putting them back on to avoid getting them wet had been an incredibly difficult habit for her to get into.

She was headed back towards the Cafeteria, hoping to snag one more fish before they closed down for the hour between breakfast and lunch, when Bernie was blessed with a unique opportunity.

Early on in her stay at Osmond’s, Bernie had learned that one of the higher-ranking nurses (or at least she thought he was higher ranking, from the way the others treated him) was very averse to water. Lo and behold, it was Greg leading a new blonde guy down the hallways. He was distracted, rubbing his fuzzy jaw, and didn’t see Bernadette heading straight for him, picking up speed.

He flinched a half-second before Bernadette bowled into him, tackle-hugging him to the ground and giggling maniacally before chirping, “Good morning, Greg!”

For good measure, she rubbed her wet hair all over his face.

“Damnit, Bernadette!” the bearded man roared, scrabbling frantically to distance himself from her drippy person. “You didn’t take your clothes off when you went in the pool! And you didn’t use a towel! STOP HUGGING ME!”

“Noooooh, Greeeeg,” the silvery-blue female whined, full of forced sincerity, “you are faaaaaavorite. Where I come from, you and I turn into water, and flow in to the sea… so far away from land it be just bad memory.”

She stroked Greg’s hair, feigning fondness, making sure to get it nice and damp. When the male nurse started to feel where Bernie’s wetness had soaked through his clothes and was now in contact with his skin, he got serious about fighting to free himself. He was much stronger than she was, and flung her off to his left side.

Bernie landed hard on her right hip, and winced a little in pain, but it was gone as quickly as it came and she was left with only laughter. Her body slid to a squeaky, wet stop mere inches from Dante’s toes, her broad smile showing not one but two rows of razor sharp teeth. She looked up at him for a moment before getting to her feet. Greg had immediately gotten up off the floor and begun to walk in the direction of the nearest nurse’s station.

“Greg! Where you go?! Your patient!”

In response, the nurse flipped her off, and kept right on walking.

Bernadette was still chuckling a little as she turned to the tall blonde Greg had abandoned.

“Ah-ha, made him real angry! Bastard deserve it!” She hoped she was using the word ‘bastard’ correctly… Bernadette hadn’t quite mastered the Earth-language, but she had been lucky enough to have vocal cords that were capable of it. Poor Jax sounded like a bird squawking no matter what he said!

“I am…” the noise Bernadette made instead of an English name sounded a dolphin’s echolocation intermingled with a song in what might have been ancient Etruscan. “But since your Earth-tongue cannot say my true name, you call me Bernadette like others do. Nurse has left you, so I will show you this place, if you like… but first tell your name.”
Well, diversity is good. And speaking of diversity, I thought it was time I add someone unusual to the mix.

Tigre, have a shark... alien... chick... thing. XD

How's that for strange? I'm having so much fun making her that I'm going a lot more in-depth with her CS than is strictly necessary, but I need to in order for one vital aspect of Bernie to be explained. She's not actually crazy. On her own planet, she's the most insane version of themselves that anyone could imagine... but if you put her on Earth and totally disregarded the language barriers, physical appearance and culture shock, she wouldn't be diagnosed with any mental illness. It will all be explained in the full CS. Which I will finish at some later point in time when I shouldn't be going to sleep. ;) Edit: I also feel like I should mention that in my head, Bernadette's speaking voice sounds like she's originally from India and the Caribbean... somehow... XD

Also, I dunno what's up with all these girls. I feel like I need the next few of the Thirteen to be boys.

In the meanwhile, please enjoy a brief post... that is short and only effects Dante. LoL! Pum, now I have to finish Bernadette next because -twitch- I hate Works In Progress. I don't know what I'm going to do with Cadie, Jax and Buck. They're all in the Cafeteria and I want to leave them free for the moment, in case I need them to tie off any loose ends. ;) I should have something up for you in a few days, once I know what I need to write.

I know I've been slacking off a little lately, but when I say I'm sticking with it this time, I mean it. I don't mind a slow and steady pace, but I'm bound and determined that it will be steady!
Katelyn, your timing couldn't be more perfect right now. I have a few players who are needing a bit of time off, and we're at such an early place in the roleplay it would be no problem to have you join in. We're not officially open for applications just yet, but in all likelihood I'll need to do some recruiting in the very near future so I see no reason to make you wait. Go ahead and post your CS whenever it's ready and we'll go from there! :) Thanks for your interest!
You always have such charming gif's, Tigre! No promises, but it's still early so I hope I can get it done tonight. I will probably hold off finalizing the CS so I can get the IC post done.
Okay, so PM's (and/or bad men) are going out to Kally (Cjayxo), Syblyx and Vampiric immediately following this post. Those who do not respond... will be replaced.

I have a post about halfway done, I wound up doing more babysitting and horse stuffs than I'd planned to this weekend so I wasn't able to get as much writing done as I would have liked. I may wind up scrapping most of what I have done: it removes Cadie from play, and since we seem to be low on active players at this point that may not be the wisest idea on my part. I think instead I will send Cadie and Jax your way, Pumirya. Just sit tight. I have a rough CS for another of my Thirteen that should be finalized and posted tonight, and I will endeavor to get a brief post done to send her Dante's way.

Tigre and Pumirya: My two active players, lol. Just hang in there while I handle bidness. Your patience is appreciated.

Elsa: I'm going to go ahead and mark you as 'inactive until further notice'. Let me know when life settles down for you and we'll work on getting you back into the game. If you're not going to be able to write a post removing Sasha from play, give me a heads-up and I'll puppet her into her room for ya.

Oblivion: If you can't make a post before exams start, please let me know. I need you to at least get Anya to her room. If you can't, same offer for you as for Elsa: I'll move Anya for you. I am hoping that once exams are over you'll be out of school for the summer and can write more... yesyes?

Kally (Cjayxo): I know you were working on a remake of Anna, but I've not heard anything else from you. Please give me an estimate as to when you'll be ready with the new CS so that we can initiate the changeover. If you're not going to be able to post, please at least pop in and let me know.

Syblyx and Vampiric: I have no idea what's going on with y'all, it seems like forever since you've been around. Please post here asap!
