During the nights and mornings at Havasu, the interns got to lead discussions with the other youth. Some interns led special night discussions, while others, including me, did a Q&A at the end. We were told we were going to do so before the retreat, and they wouldn't tell us the questions, so I just took as many notes as I could on all of Romans 8:1-17 during the retreat just to make sure I'd be able to answer any question they threw at me.
here is where mildly amusing story begins
So they start asking one question to each of the interns. For one, Emma, it was asking what was different between Africa and here and struggles she faced that were different. For the next, Kaelah, it was asking what God had shown her during the week. Next up was I, and I prepared to answer the question that Kaelah had--but then they asked me to summarise the struggles I had faced over the previous three years as I integrated with the youth, especially when it came to my introversion and my walk with God. I carefully threw down my notes (lol) in mock exasperation, because they had invalidated the usefulness of every single note I had taken the entire trip, and then I spent a minute or so scanning my memories before I got to answer.
everybody found it hilarious
