I changed my mind. I'm not really feeling it.

I'm interested in this, as well. Just so you know.
Well, given the general lack of replies and what not, we might as well shut this game down.
That was fast - very good. Hopefully, everyone else will show up in time. Otherwise, I'll push the game on regardless.

RenegadeRunaway, if you do take up the challenge and fight Jack, you're welcome to school him at your leisure. There's no way he would win, even if he didn't have a type disadvantage.

Finally found some time to post - at 2 am on a Sunday night, no less. Hopefully, you're all still around. I will ask everyone, though, to please let us know if you declare that you're going to post and then aren't able to get to it. I tend to just forget about it until I see an update.

And to answer your question, Lord of Evil, pokémon go was only released yesterday in my country, and it doesn't work on my phone.
"Who knows?" professor Oak answered with a shrug. "He stayed around for a while after his last duel with Red, but then he up and left. That was several months ago..." He scratched his chin. "I suspect he's gone off to train for a rematch. He had a bit of a revelation there, at the Indigo Plateau, and I wouldn't count him out of the game just yet. He's my grandson, after all." Oak folded his arms and nodded sagely to himself, then looked up. "But that's it for personal questions. I've got a lot of trainers to get to."

It wasn't long before everyone's registrations were finished, and the young trainers were ushered out of the lab. With a last reminder to read their pokédex manuals, the professor shut the door. Professor Oak's paddock lay empty, green fields still glistening with morning dew, distant sounds of people chatting and pokémon stirring making their way from around the building. Jack turned toward the other trainers and scratched his chin with the edge of his pokédex, then smiled.

"Okay then, without professor buzzkill around..." he said to himself, and with a flick of his wrist, his pokéball came rolling out of his sleeve and into his hand, "we can finally get to the good part." He threw the pokéball into the ground, where it bounced up, cracked open and released a small, green dinosaur onto the grass. Jack stooped down to pet it, while reviewing its page in the pokédex. "Green colour... you don't say? Footprints, blah blah, dietary needs, blah blah... ah-ha! Moveset! Oh, and, uh, hi there, little guy. You and I are gonna go far."

"Bulbasaur!" the pokémon cried happily in response, and Jack stood back up. "So, who wants to take us on? We're already falling behind those guys over there," he nodded toward the fighting on the other side of the lab, and Bulbasaur cried out again. With a quick gesture, he flipped his pokédex closed and stuck it in his pocket. "Off the record, of course. I can't afford to lose and go broke on my first day!" Jack grinned sheepishly, and Bulbasaur gave him a sour look at the vote of confidence.
I definitely appreciate it. I'd really like for this game to take off, and I'll pretty much share all the GM power I need to make it happen.
Sorry, I've got another batch of assignments that need to be done very soon, so I can't promise any posts until the middle of next week. If anyone feels compelled to usher us out of the building, feel free. I had no plans for Blue, myself, so if you want to decide what he's doing (or indeed, if Oak even feels like sharing that with a bunch of strange kids), feel free to do that as well.
It really is strange how uneven the type spread was in the early generations. Granted, I'm not sure if it's any different now.

Well, I guess I'll answer for professor Oak then, and then we can get the adventure started.
Anyone have any particular wishes for their future pokémon? A bit of overlap is fine, of course, but we probably don't want to end up with identical teams.

Obviously, we're not going to go around catching any legendary pokémon, but I could see us going on a quest to recover a fossil or two in the distant future.

Oh, and all pokémon are considered roughly equal here, so you don't have to feel forced to go with the ones that have the best stats in the game. Needless to say, EV points and other gaming abstractions are not a factor either.
