Iron is a bit too advanced for now, you should probably go for a weaker metal like copper and then work your way up to bronze, then iron.
The Cindorayi Republic, Population: 142, Year 18 IL, Age of the Quarter Moon

Sonya smiled when the other creatures responded in kind, calling themselves "snobrewts". She quickly asked one of the others a question, and they handed over a moon crystal they had handy as they knew pacified the creatures in the east. She also took a pearl necklace from off of her neck, and placed one in each of her hands. She cautiously approached the creatures, offering it to the one in the front.

In the main town of Lunysvet, the entire population had gathered in the central square for a single purpose: the election of the new leader of the entire Cindorayi civilization. The votes from each of the other two villages were brought on stone tablets, though heavy, for counting. When the vote counter was finished, she announced: "Ekatyrina has been confirmed, with seventy-six votes, as the leader of all the Cindorayi."

"Thank you," replied Ekatyrina. Though the others who ran were slightly disappointed, they respected the vote and nodded their approval.

There was some discussion amongst the Council, and when it was finished Ekatyrina said:

"The Cindorayi Council has come to the conclusion that no leader of the Cindorayi should rank above any other, or be treated any differently from anyone else. As such, the leader of the Cindorayi, beginning with Ekatyrina, will be known as the First Citizen, the first among equals."

"The Council will be elected similarly, as every Cindorayi votes for who they believe would be best for each role."

"An election will be held every six years, to either confirm the current leader and councilors or choose new ones. This will mark the era of a new form of government, one we call a 'republic'. May it last a hundred years of learning!" The other Cindorayi all around cheered.

In the nearby village of Tyrnovuna, experimenting with ways to make agriculture easier, one of the farmers devised a shape of stone tool he called a plow, which makes a narrow trench in the ground that seeds can then be placed into. This makes them much likelier to grow and to not be washed away. This invention is quickly spread to the other villages for its utility.

@Mihndar
So like a civilization type "turns until research is complete?" Is it an additional 4 turns for completetion at rank? (Ex: 4 for first level of advancement, then 8, 12, 16 and so on) or is there a set time for each major project?

Exactly. And no, you can set it to whatever you think reasonable. It's just to make sure nobody develops anything crazy without one of the GMs noticing, or takes an unrealistically small amount of time to research something.
Anybody know a good site for details on all the weapons for the time period we're in?

It's obvious but it works.

MangoJuice and I have come to the conclusion that in order to keep track of everyone's technological advancements and ensure fairness, the time has come for important research projects (so you can invent a flute or something without this) to be recorded by a post counter.

For example, for the Cindorayi at the moment it would read:

Agriculture: 4/4
Masonry: 1/4
Stone tools: 3/8

They all advance at once, and you can have as many as you like within reason.

Also, there is to be a distinction between dialogue posts and proper IC posts. Dialogue posts contain nothing but interaction between you and another player, can be posted one after another, and cannot advance your technology post counters. Proper IC posts can have both and advance your technology counters, but can only be posted after two or more other people have made proper posts.

Any clarification needed on the new rules?
@Mihndar Do you think 50 Million is good?

Sounds about right.
What? Just the other day his nation had a population of like 126,000,000 I thought

Edit: Is everyone increasing their population?

Voltus increased his from 70 to 80, and me from 80 to 90, which I feel are both appropriate for our size.

Everyone else's is the same, though I should think Hambria should raise theirs considering 15 million is small even in comparison to Dong Wei, and yours for the reasons we mentioned.

Murtox's was much better where it was, at something like that, I have no idea when he increased it to that.
@Voltus_Ventus
Could you please replace the map on the first page of the OOC with the one I just posted late last page?

Um...
<Snipped quote by Cyclone>Along with the Zanjir Islands I say 250 million is reasonable.
I have 20-30 million people living on my side of the islands alone. And you at least own twice as much.

Those are some densely populated islands. I feel perhaps too densely populated.
@CycloneBTW, I tried to measure your country and Tin is actually larger than Russia.
Russia had the population of about 170 million.
I think you can up that count.
Similarly it won't hurt if most players raise their population by 20% or so.
At least it makes me feel less like a superpower.
I have 140+ million population because my mainland is practically equivalent to the USA, the entire landmass is well populated.
Then I have the colonies which was circa 30 million before including the Zanjir islands.
My territory owned from the Zanjir is almost as large as all my colonies combined.
So I have circa 50-60 million people living in colonies.
That raises my population to 190-200 million.

Yeah, I feel Tin should have the largest population. It is the "China" after all.

I'm considering raising mine to 80-90 million.
