The night had indeed been a long one; Luka himself hadn't been able to sleep much, mostly due to the unfamiliar presence around him. So he’d lay awake most of the night staring out the small hole of the burrow into the sky, watching the night progress. It was a very clear night and a bright moon was casting enough light onto the ground that a shadow moved across the ground as it travelled across the sky. He drifted off every now and then, but not for long enough that he’d even realised he’d fallen asleep. He was eagerly awaiting the approaching dawn where he could be rid of this human and things could go back to normal. I swear Cade you better have a good reason for leaving me here with her all night. The thought passed through his mind, but he still felt certain the daemon would be around some time to come relieve him. Perhaps he was just taking advantage of the night and doing some more hunting before coming back for what he knew was a certain meal. Eventually the light of the moon began to dim, giving way to the soft pink light of the dawn. All in all it certainly could have been a worse night. After all there hadn't been a blizzard. Suddenly the girl began moving slightly and speaking, causing Luka to flinch in surprise. However he quickly realised she was still asleep and he rolled his eyes slightly and kicked her gently to wake her. “Get up. You’re dreaming. The dawn’s here and it’s time for you to go.” This world wasn’t a place for someone like her. Or any of them really. It was a hard realisation Luka had accepted a long time ago, that for all his comfort around the daemons this was not his world. Hers was. And that thought terrified him.
Name: Grace Whyte Alias: Hasn’t decided yet Age: 16 Power/ Limitations: Water Manipulation -Can shape and manipulate water -Density manipulation/ water solidification -Is unable to create water, is limited to using existing sources. -Distance and the amount of matter depends on user’s strength -Controlling and manipulating greater bodies is exhausting. Personality/History (because I have a bad habit of writing them both at the same time): Grace is a very kind and gentle soul, who’s deeply concerned with ocean conservation and protection and has an odd love of mermaids. She’s a very shy girl, doesn’t like confrontation or attention being drawn to her and this often causes conflict with her strong views about environmentalism, more often than not her passion will overcome her shyness when needed. She is friendly and cheerful enough when she is around people she is comfortable with, but she’s hardly one to raise her hand in class to ask a question. She and her mother moved into (the area because I never thought of a town name) when she was five, mostly to be closer to a school for people like her in preparation for when she entered high school. Her father was a normal human, but left them once Grace began displaying abilities like her mother. Grace’s mother herself has fire manipulation powers, so it s theorised that the elemental manipulation part at least was passed down from mother to daughter, though manifested in a different way. For CS's I usually like to make them simple, but given the relationship our characters will be sharing I figured it will be better to include more detail so that we know how to interact with each other better during the early stages of the RP: Name: Alias: Age: Power/ Limitations: Personality: History: Appearance:
A closed RP between myself and Lost in my Mind
Okay first things first, before anyone gets too excited. -I expect at least 2 paragraphs per post but I'm looking for more around 3-5. I'm not sure what passes for 'Casual' anymore but I'm sick of getting one paragraph replies when I'm giving them 4 to work with. -A daily post would be nice, but I understand life gets in the way, so it’s not a must. That being said if I don’t get a reply or hear any word from you within 5 days of your last interaction with me I will drop the RP. -I roleplay via thread only. My apologies if this does not suit your tastes. -I will likely take on multiples of this RP. Just letting you know. Now that that’s all out of the way, the plot! Your character and mine have been next-door neighbours since childhood and are now entering high school together. Now this is no ordinary high school, instead they go to a school for very exceptional people, where the heroes of tomorrow are being taught the tricks of the trade. Superheroes that is. Think along the lines of Sky-High. People are aware of superheroes and they are widely accepted and loved, but there are also super villains. And in that, is where the challenge lies for our main characters. Unbeknown to any them their parents are arch enemies, with mine being the hero and yours the villain who is intent on making sure your character follows in their footsteps. Now for the relationship between our characters, I’m going to leave that up to you. They can be long time friends, or it can be more of a ‘girl next door’ type deal where they’re aware of the other but don’t really interact much, or they may be entirely oblivious to the others existence. Powers I’m going to leave fairly unlimited within reason, don’t go creating some unbeatable god but I would like their powers to please make sense together. For example fire-proof skin and fire powers is something understandable. However something like water-breathing and electrical powers have no right being together in the one human being. It just makes no sense. For the villain parent I would like some originality here as well, I tried this RP a long time ago and for some reason every partner I tried it with made the villain an absolute asshole who abused the shit out of their kid. You can do wrong things without being evil and can do wrong things but for good reasons. Whatever the things and the reasons are up to you but don’t make them an abusive asshole. On that note I am also willing to swap parents (meaning you’ll get the hero and I’ll get the villain if you’d prefer). Now if you’ve made it this far and are still willing to put up with me and my passive-aggressive ways please feel free to PM me with interest (as I often forget to subscribe or check my interest checks however I will always reply to PMs), questions or ideas and, as always, thank you for your time <3
Luka looked at her for the longest time, seeming slightly confused. “Well… you’re an adult aren’t you?” He asked, seeming genuinely confused. “Are you saying you still lived under your parent’s care? How long does it take for you to become independent?” He understood that daemons were slightly different from humans, but even so a mother only needed to care for her brood for a handful of winters before they were able to take care of themselves. What was even more curious was that she only looked to be his age, and he had been out here… for a very long time. Suddenly the questions began again and he groaned in annoyance, rolling over so that his back was to her. It was going to be an exceptionally long night and if Cade didn’t come along soon he was pretty sure he was going to kill her himself if nothing else then to get some peace. “I am alive because I do not overstep boundaries.” He said, trying to make it fairly obvious he meant the wall. “I wouldn’t say I can communicate with them exactly… they can understand us perfectly, you’d be surprised at their intelligence. In my opinion they’re much smarter than we are. He sat up for a moment, looking at her again, trying to get her to understand. “But I have a bit of trouble understanding them; I can pick up on a lot of body language and I kind of know what the different noises mean… but nothing like knowing words like I do with you.” Looking at her for a few moments longer the boy then lay back down with his eyes open, lying on his back so that he was looking up at the tree. Luka folded his arms behind his head, using them as a kind of pillow. In all honesty he was curious about the world to the North of the wall, but was having trouble thinking of any questions really worth asking.
It's all good :) No rush
The cold air stung his lungs as he ran, feet flying through the snow. All around him other dark shapes of daemons were starting to emerge from their dens, some of them looking at him curiously as he ran past, no doubt wondering why he was in such a rush, or perhaps why he was awake at all. Soon the entire clan would be awake. But he didn’t care right now. The only thing that mattered was getting to Cade. He needed to see what all the fuss was about. Another deafening screech echoed through the forest. Now her sight wasn’t nearly as good as the others during the night, hence why she elected to sleep during the darkest hours and did her own hunting throughout the day. As such she didn’t see the other figure running in the opposite direction until it was too late and the pair collided, sending both sprawling onto the cobblestone road in the snow. Mari was the first to recover and she pushed some of her hair out of the way as she jumped back, glaring at the… the human? She’d just smashed into. A confused look crossed her face before she pulled a sharp looking dark blade from beneath her clothes.
Luka stood there for a while, looking at the girl. Technically, he could very easily leave her alone in the tree. But that doesn’t mean he should. Sighing loudly the boy walked over towards her at the second request and crouched down, lowering himself into the small burrow as well. The dirt was fairly warm, creating a fairly cosy space, so long as you didn’t mind the bugs and spiders that also called it home. It was small, so between the pair of them they’d warm the space up fairly quickly, meaning at least they wouldn’t freeze during the night. That being said he still wasn’t overly happy about it. This burrow was nowhere near as comfortable or as large as his den. “I don’t see why you need me to stay with you.” He eventually said as he settled down, apparel getting ready to go to sleep. “I mean I don’t even know what you thought you were doing over here. Were you trying to get yourself eaten or something? Those things are unforgiving to intruders to their territory at the best of times… but it’s the middle of winter. I don’t know how well you people eat over there but these guys are hungry and you’re an easy meal.” He shrugged again. “You should try and get some rest; it’ll be a very long night otherwise.” He wasn’t sure he’d be able to sleep himself; it’d be a very strange night for him as well. He couldn’t remember the last human he’d seen alive. There had been an odd increase of them crossing the wall recently, but he had only seen them in the morning… or what remained of them in the morning after the daemon’s had their fill. As it was he wasn’t sure what Cade wanted him to do. Was he just minding her until later when he came for her? Is that why he’d been sent after her?
Looking at the girl cautiously Luka approached her slowly, she was panicked but if she kept being loud like this she was only going to attract more of them. It was always a strange habit of humans, when they were in the most danger they made the loudest noises. When she grabbed his hand he flinched visibly and jerked back, though this was mostly a reflex rather than any actual fear or desire to get away from her. “You need to calm down.” He replied slowly, keeping his voice level and calm. “You’re not thinking clearly. It’s the middle of the night and you’re lost in a strange forest. You don’t even know where ‘back’ is.” He did. But he wasn’t about to go crossing the wall willingly either. “This way.” Reversing the grip on her wrist Luka looked around himself before he began leading her in a seemingly random direction. “They’re too active at night and with all that noise you made you’re pretty much announcing your presence to them. You’ll never make it back during the dark.” He stopped at a tree and moved aside slightly for her, indicating to the small dark gap between the roots, leading to a small hole beneath the ground. “Don’t worry, they can’t fit through here. Too small.” He seemed confident, but didn’t want to mention they could probably dig them out if they wanted to. “Go on.” He encouraged, taking a step back and moving out of the way for her. All around them he could hear the noises of the daemons, although they were far away their cries tended to carry exceptionally well. They were hunting noises though, not the same as the ones they made when fighting, which had now ceased, meaning Cade and his combatant had finished fighting, probably because they realised their meal had gotten away. “Or you can take your chances out there with them.” Luka offered, indicating to the darkness and, honestly, without the sun to guide her he highly doubted she’d be able to stumble back upon the wall in the darkness without running into a daemon first.
