Insula Of Lost Animus

A list of plot points we have been coming up with:

* The islands are called "Insula of Lost Animus", Latin for "The Island of Lost Souls."

* It is a group of 5 large islands and outcroppings of several smaller islands. The five large islands are connected to each other with underground caves and tunnels. There is a volcano on one of the islands.

* The islands are not on any map.

* They were first discovered in the late 1800s- and were inhabited up until the 1920s.

* Those who lived on the islands were all part of a secret organization and their family members.

* The members of the island were doing experimentations and creating things.

* Around 1910 they discovered something on the island that should have been left alone, but they experimented with it and tried to figure out how to make it work with the idea that they could create more of this item and sell them to the highest bidder.

* This backfired when the "something" proved too much for them to handle and as a result everyone on the island ended up dead around 1920.

* It is now year 2020 and the island has been growing wild and evolving. The "something" from before lays dormant again, but there are now other much more dangerous things on the island.

* The "something" opened a dimension rift around the island, opening portals from several different dimensions all around "Insula of Lost Animus."

* One of the portals has a supernatural effect on the islands, creating a sort of force-field around them and the water for miles and miles, causing anything that gets near the force-field to not be able to enter.... or leave.

* The only opening in the field is from up above.

* This is the only explanation for why flight DL6799 was able to crash land on one of the main islands.

* Now these survivors have no way of calling for help or leaving.

Greetings everybody!

I am Mjoll. I am experienced with role playing, though it has been a good while. I am here with @Dovahkiin who is a complete newbie to role playing and writing. (He has tried Nanowrimo the last couple years) He is also my real life husband. We are trying to create our first role play together. Wish us luck. Any advice you would like to share for my husband (or other newbies)?

General physical description:
She is five feet, seven inches tall. She has always been on the slender side. Her skin is pale white, a huge contrast to her red hair. Her hair is past her shoulder blades and a mixture between wavy and curly, depending on the humidity outside. She usually lets her hair down free around her shoulders. She has light blue eyes.

Hometown:
Small town in Australia, though she is born from American parents, she has always lived in Australia.

Type of home/ neighborhood:
Close community, everyone knows each other. Not many high paying job openings, even for those with college degrees.

Her family moved to Australia while her mom was pregnant with her. They moved for her father’s job. He was a zoologist and got his dream job in an Australian zoo. After Sera was born, a year later, her mom had twins, a boy and a girl named Tessa and Troy. 2 year after that, her mom had another boy named Gregory. When Sera was 11 years old, her mom had her final child. During this birth, her mother passed away. The baby was a girl and her father named her Sabrina to honor their mother. Sadly, he could not quite look at little Sabrina like a father should.

Herold threw himself at his job, leaving the 11 year old to look after the others. When she was 18, her dad lost his job due to the zoo going bankrupt and took an offer in America. Sera decided to stay behind because she was really dedicated to her schooling and did not want to leave.

Friends:
Since she was either caring for her siblings or doing school work, Sera did not have much time to make lasting friendships. When she went into high school and her siblings were older and more able to help out around the house, she poured her soul into her school work, hoping to make something of herself some day.

Other close relationships:
None. Her family is scattered all over and she is no longer close with them.

Relationship with men:
Non existent. Her life was either her siblings or school.

Relationship with women:
Same as above.

Job:
She went to college to get a degree in publishing. She has always wanted to be a writer and work in the publishing field, but now that she has graduated and has her degree, she can’t find a job local to her. She has had to settle like so many others in her town and work at fast food to get by. She is barely getting by though.

Dress style:
Casual during her free time, though she hardly has free time. She works 40+ hours a week at her job. She really does not have a sense of style, she was never one to keep up with trends or read style magazines. She just wears whatever she is comfortable in.

Religion:
She believes in a God, but does not actively go to church.

Attitude to religion:
Like politics, she would rather not discuss religion. She is not good with subjects that might turn into a debate.

Favorite pastimes:
Devouring novel after novel when she can, and of course writing.

Favorite sports:
Does not know anything about sports.

Favorite foods:
Anything that is savory. She loves pasta and mashed potatoes. Ice cream, pizza and slushies are her favorite junk foods.

Why she is on the plane:
She was not able to make ends meet and was being evicted from her apartment because they raised the price of rent. She was sucking up her pride and moving back in with her father until she could find a proper job in her field.

She got really lucky when a wealthy businessman started to show an interest in her, and before she knew it, she was married to the guy, living a life she never dreamed of. Sadly she cares more about the money and her little "Princess" her teacup Pomeranian she got as a wedding gift.

Background: They are twins who are on the airplane with their mother and stepfather. Sid is withdrawn and does not talk much. Angel is much more talkative and outgoing.

Flight DL6799 from Australia and heading for California, USA was supposed to be a normal flight. Then a storm came out of nowhere and blew them off course. At first, nobody was too worried, but things started to get strange when the pilots noticed the computer equipment going haywire, everything on the plane was starting to malfunction. The next thing everyone knew, they were going down fast. A force nobody could fathom hit the airplane causing it to rip in half. The front part of the airplane hit down near a beach on an island. The bottom half of the plane fell into a swamp.

Many died on impact. The survivors are hurt, scared and unsure of where they are.
