"Sccrreeeeeeeeee..." The rusty wail of dragging metal scraping across the ground echoed through the halls of the dark restaurant. The chilling sound subtly stopped, and a hulking figure stood in the darkness, just out of view of the dining room camera. A dim orange bead of light shining out from the shadowed silhouette of the figure scanned the room silently for several moments. After quietly hulking in the darkness, the dark form disappeared down a hallway, rattling lightly as loose screws and sprockets rolled around inside it's metal body.
An absent gaze was cast onto the center of the gym by 221 where the other subjects introduced themselves and their abilities. He didn't see too eager be a part of the show. For the moment, blending into the background was his power.
Surprisingly, The small idol was a lot lighter than it appeared to be. Something easily noted as it was lifted off the grassy knoll and carefully examined by a captain. The statue was rough to the touch, like a piece of timber, yet as solid as marble. Even the smaller appendages on the miniscule idol seemed inordinately sturdy, such as the little wings or arms. A mysterious aura seeped out of the statue, invisible to the mortal eye, yet palpable as a chill in the air. The longer the captain held the ominous object in his hands, the more something within seemed to tug at him, urging him to take it with him.
Back! Sorry. 2 days away. Let me see where my little statue ended up.
@PeacelessThere's not a whole lot for my character to do either at this particular point. Hence him just kinda blending into the background for the moment. But that's okay. There's plenty of us so I don't mind posting a few mundane posts until it's my time to shine. Everyone gets a chance to kinda introduce and develop their characters while we sit back instead of everyone making a big flashy entrance all at once. (not that this has happened here) Just post something small instead of a text wall. A nice, casual, one paragraph or something, just letting everyone know your character is in the room and what they're doing. Even if it's as simple as staring off into space.
Yeah it's always accepting, as the title post implies in ginormous letters.
Seems that way
It had been weeks, possibly months, since the old wooden storage crate had fallen adrift from the large cargo freight that ventured through the pacific on its regular route. Now it bobbed aimlessly across the ocean toward an unknown destination, worn and ragged from rough tides and exposure. The crate was barely whole, with only a few loose nails and weakening planks holding it together. It didn't take much longer or much more punishment from the sea to finally wear the crate into driftwood, sending its contents drifting away. Of all the items to be sent wayward, a small dark grey idol carved in the shape of a winged creature with horns, seemed to move with the most haste through the current and waves.

After hours more of floating across the seemingly endless ocean, something subtly breached the horizon. As distance between the small statue and the object closed, it became clear that it was some sort of structure out in the middle of the sea on a constructed island. A loud foghorn pierced the quiet hush of the shifting ocean as a massive cruise liner like boat passed through the water, wading past the demonic idol toward the island. Some unknown force seemed to pull the idol through the waves and toward the island, until it ended up banging through the outer sanctum, washing across the jagged reef into a drain off pipe and through the plumbing.

Against all odds and in spite of every obstacle, the small demonic statue managed it's way out of the pipes into a large body of calm water within the confines of the resort. Another hour of drifting and a bit of tumbling ended up with the idol laying on a bed of grass in the community gardens, where it came to rest at last, motionlessly staring off into the sky.
221 observed silently as the others eventually made their way out of the dining area, following the Vlad down a brightly lit metal corridor. He stood for a moment, quietly looking at the food laid out across the table. It took some encouragement from the guards in the form of a nudge from the butt of his rifle to get him moving along with the rest. He followed along like a shadow, keeping to himself near the rear of the others. As they each filed into the gym, 221 found a place not to far from the doctor near some lifting equipment. He didn't seem to show much concern or interest as the young subject was sent into a writhing heap from a guards tazer and dragged aside. 221 seemed more content with watching the automatic doors open and close as guards and researchers passed through.
With everyone getting settled and Doctor Vlad making his presence known, the guards standing beside 221 excused themselves, leaving the oblivious subject to follow suit with the other experiments. Over all, he was a bit smaller then some of the larger subjects. The clothes he wore, a baggy grey military grade jumpsuit, made him look rather ordinary by comparison. Standing not to far from the commotion in the center of the room and the young mans foreign ranting, other than a slight cringe from the volume, 221 didn't seem to react too much. Not to the other subject, nor to the food. Instead his attention seemed to subtly wander, slowly gazing past the others in the room and across the walls in the background. A vacant gaze was even cast up to the ceiling for several moments. Every now and then, his eyes would settle on a guard or a subject.
