Most non-generic anime is anything in the mid-2000s. Or anything that's not recent I guess.

There's a couple good non-generic anime from recent years. Tokyo Ghoul was fantastic, and One-punch man is pretty great from what I've seen. I'm just unsure of what to watch now. I really don't care about stuff like Naruto and all that. Idk man, I just want something that like, doesn't have literally the worst fanbase ever.
