The iconic Commander Shepard successfully combated the Collector threat and was sent home to Earth for the after party. Now, the galaxy seems without any real drama. Of course, the chilling prophecies that Shepard made in reference to the fabled Reapers still remain, but most take no notice to it and write it all off as misunderstanding on Shepard's part. Maybe it's the public lying to themselves. But that's how the general outlook is. The galaxy moves on. In time, they'll forget.
Somehow, you have found yourself on Omega, in the Terminus Systems. The no-mans-land of the galaxy. No watchful presence of the Council to protect you. It's not safe, and it's not for the faint of hearted, so unless you are extremely brave, or stupid, you are probably not too content with being in such a place. You could have ended up here for any amount of reasons - work, adventure, or just more than your fair share of bad luck. Whatever the reason, you find yourself low on credits. Unless you're a hardened son of a bitch, you won't survive for long on Omega without some creds to keep you going - and if you are a hardened son of a bitch, it's unlikely that you want to stay out of pocket for long. Either way, you're getting desperate. If things don't get better, you'll soon be out on the streets - and if things get that bad, it's unlikely you'll make it through more than a couple of nights at most.
Things are bad. You have problems. But if you look hard enough, there's always a way to fix them - for you? You've fallen in to the path of Ticus Rakaelum, a sinister old Turian and high-ranking member of a criminal syndicate that spans the entirety of the Terminus Systems, the Circle of Absolution. As luck would have it, he's recruiting anyone with value, and you have value. Maybe he can't get you off this rock right away, but you're now getting thrown in to the underground in Omega, you're getting contacts, and you're getting credits. It's very likely that things are about to get rough.

I'm not exactly strict when it comes to posting, but there has to be some degree of consistency. I won't set a particular time-frame of which I require you to post within, but I'll make it clear that if you fall behind, we won't wait for you. Not for too long. I'll give you the chance to catch up, of course, but it will be up to you to read up on what you've missed. If this becomes a regularly occurring thing, or you disappear completely for a long stretch of time, your character will be removed from the RP. This isn't to punish anyone, it's just to keep it flowing nicely.
When it comes to the character you are creating, you guys know when to stop. No "biotic gods". These characters are mortals... you have the right to be a badass, but nobody that can take on armies single handedly. I think you can gauge what's too much on that front. Try and make an interesting character, too. If you see that someone already has a character similar to your idea, make something different. I'd like a diverse group if possible.
In terms of what's allowed IC, I have no problem with anything that is permitted on this site. Violence and language, when used in appropriate context, is perfectly fine. Obviously when it's actually breaking the site's rules, as long as nobody other than those involved find out, it's a victimless crime. Take it to PMs, folks.
Interested! Colour me very, very interested! I hope there's still space though D:
Yeah, still space. Would like several more people to start off with, people may come and go as time passes. So far, we have two humans, including myself. I'd like a bit of diversity in terms of races. I'm not going to say "you can't be a human," but if you aren't particularly set on anything, maybe try something that nobody else has. For now, I'd kind of like each person to have one character each to focus on. Won't rule out the eventuality of two but at the moment, one seems like a good amount.
Anyway, if you're in the process of making an app, maybe it could be worth posting what species you are here, so others know not to make one of that race. Would be sucky if our group was entirely made up of Krogans or something. But like I said, just cause one person has done it, doesn't mean you can't, just means you should maybe consider not doing it. I won't stop you though.
Right, I'm dealing with some stuff, then off to bed. (timezone problems) Whack me a PM if you have any questions or you've got an app sorted, will reply when I am back up. Thanks.
Great to see all this interest. Working on an OOC right now.
So are we people who already work for the crime lord or are about to be approached? Just thinking up character concepts and one I'd had was a semi-established criminal type who might already work for him.
The majority will be new, but if your character is of a criminal background, I'm fine with you already being part of the circuit. I'd prefer for you to be relatively small time, though. No crime-lord, or anything.
I'm quite interested in this as well. Have you thought about an overall plot other than the crime syndicate and character relationship angle? More specifically, will our characters be involved with something greater than roughing people up, mercing, shake downs, stealing, etc?
This is purely for my curiosity, for it'll help me with my character creation :)!
Yes, things will develop and will probably become more serious in time. Like I said, if we move in to the ME3 timeline, that'll open a whole new range of potential situations.

Okay, so, hi guys. I plan for this to develop quite significantly and last a while, so I've tried to come up with an idea that will allow a lot of future development. As you can see, our characters will start out on Omega. Hopefully a great deal of this RP will be the characters relationships with eachother, as I am very big on character development. That being said, the plot will also develop at good pace.
This RP is based in between ME2&3. Perhaps if we maintain it, we will move in to the ME3 timeline. We'll see how it goes.
I realise that the format of "criminal underground" limits some characters, i.e. people who wish to play 'paragon' characters. To this, I'd argue that whatever they do is out of desperation. I certainly do not plan for my character to be a complete 'renegade', merely someone reduced to crime as a way to make ends meet. However, if you cannot see your character possibly committing crimes in this scenario, then you can always have a word with me and we can find a compromise.
Your character does not necessarily have to be a combat-based character. You could be a doctor, or an engineer, or something of that ilk. Despite this, I'd like the majority of people to be combat-based.
If anyone has any questions, PM me or post them here. The real question, however, is if anyone is interested. Thanks.
