In Depth Appearance |
"I hear what you're thinking! The fucking Aussie's pale? Well fuck off, I am."Standing at around 5'3 and populating as much space as your average pole, Emilia is one of those strange (appropriately) pint-sized wisps that seem to look weird no matter what sort of clothing you throw them into. Not weird with the negative connotation (even if that somewhat applies) as she still seems to possess some semblance of natural beauty with an evenly distributed curvature. Her eyes are one of her best features, being a sparkling Mediterranean blue, and are only seconded by her smile which, paired with her slightly hazy eyes, perfect the whole 'I'll burn your fucking house down if you hurt me' look.
Long, tumbling chocolate-brown curls fade into her colour of the month, whether it be green, blue or red. In terms of clothing, she prefers the 'minimal' look; AKA, when given the opportunity she'll probably just strut around half-naked. She also has three tattoos - one of a rooted tree on her left arm, another saying "Just breathe" on her left side and a USB symbol on the back of her neck.

Personality |
You remember when you were a child and you read those shitty books on genetics for little people who think giant bunnies give you (conveniently) chocolate eggs to celebrate a man being crucified? Well, in those books, they would always detail how special of a snowflake you are and you're "completely unique". Not entirely true - you go through life and you categorise people people and often, what's unique about people is thrown to the wayside. Take note here because no matter what you do, you'll never quite be able to categorise Emilia Robinson.
The Bitch is insane. It's hard to say if that's what she has always been like or that it's simply a product of being diagnosed as a schizophrenic with multiple personalities for most of her life. She's not dangerous but it's probably not safe being around her anyway. She's prone to illogical decisions fueled by curiosity and occasionally by anger. Surprisingly, she's a rather bubbly person. Lies are simply not part of her vocabulary and she's one of those people that can talk about bullshit for hours on end with minimal effort. Gets on the best with males, typically, due to the simple fact that apparently every female that goes to both Mayweather and Delphina are excessively hot and have great butts (her Achilles heel). But, in the same breath, she's not particularly outgoing and only goes exploring when there's something to be found. For the majority of her time, she sits around and absorbs information. For the most part, she fills those information gathering events with noise; specifically, by talking to herself. Well, technically she's talking to a mental manifestation of her powers called Eliza but to others, she's pretty much talking to herself.
There's a few things in her rather excitable life which can give her pause. Love is one of them. Love terrifies Emilia as love is the greatest extent of her powers. To love someone means that every door in their mind will fly open to greet you. And in those dark corners of people's memories, you often find things which disappoint you, which make you rethink your love. It's a painful cycle.
Her powers sometimes scare her. They are, in every definition of the word, powerful. To be able to potentially destroy or dismantle someone's memories, the very things that makes them
them is staggering. She doesn't want to hurt people, to make them forget who they even are.

Abilities |
What if you could remember everything? That first painful breath of air as your lungs kickstarted, every dream and thought, every little detail that made up the world around you. That's Emilia - her mind is nearly infinite in size, capable of holding everything she has ever experienced and more; so much more. This, however, isn't really the crux of her powers but a bi-product of them. You see, Emilia isn't limited to her memories. Her capabilities vary but basically, she can steal memories from others and view them as if she was there. The depth of the memory depends on her relationship with the target. Someone who hates her will reveal entirely different memories than someone who's infatuated with her. As mentioned earlier, someone who loves her will mean that she has total access to their memories. Not only humans hold memories and she has taken memories from inanimate objects and animals as well. Once she has them, she never really forgets them which can cause problems because after a while, it's hard to differentiate between what's her memories and what's someone elses.
To others, it appears that Emilia occasionally likes to talk to herself. And, although she does talk to herself sometimes, she's mostly talking to
Eliza. Eliza is a construction of her subconcious, a personification of her bloodline. Eliza was the one who taught Emilia how to steal memories and for the most part, she guides her through life. Her personality is almost the polar opposite of Emilia, being dark and cynical towards the world. She's a bit of a bitch but Emilia would be stuck without her. Emilia has little to no control over the little voice in her head and often, it has led to disastrous situations. Eliza has the ability to add herself into memories and alter them but it's a somewhat rare event.
Her most powerful power and one that she has used only twice in her entire life is the ability to delete memories from someone. It's only possible if they share a meaningful bond with you (e.g. familial, romantic or close friend) and it carries a heavy price with it. Emilia refuses to use it as, although she is slightly crazy, she realises that taking away memories means changing someone entirely. Everything they've been through are the foundations of their character and to remove those foundations would to have the entire building come crumbling down.
|
Limitations |
Her powers are limited in the fact that she has to physically touch someone to use them. When they're sleeping, that's pretty easy but when they're wide awake,
most people aren't too amused with having a half-naked crazy bitch feel them up. Another limit to stealing vast swathes of information from people is that sometimes that can override her own memories and create amnesia, which she would prefer to avoid. Another limit to her powers is that to access the deepest memories, she has to be quite close to someone which isn't very easy for someone who's afraid of love. The problem with deleting other people's memories are that when she does that, she also deletes similar memories from her own mind. Just ask her who her parents are and the consequences are obvious.

History |
Emilia's parents were never massively wealthy nor did they come from good backgrounds. Her mother, Acacia, was originally born in Brisbane and was obsessed with the sea. Eventually, she went to University to study Marine Biology where her studies took her to America. She didn't mind it so much over there but she yearned for home. And, as these things go, she met Emilia's father and they fell madly in love. It was a bit of a rushed job but eventually, they moved back home to Australia where they settled down on Hamilton Island. Not long after, her mother fell pregnant and everything seemed to be going just right. Their life continued on plain-sailing when Emilia was born. She was a strangely quiet child but she was well-behaved. Wasn't very good with other children but they lived in a secluded area so it was never really noticed. Problems started when she started reporting about the "voice in her head". The voice told her to do things and, of most concern, it told her how to do them.
So, at the grand age of ten, Emilia was sectioned for active schizophrenia and posing a threat to those around her. Under her father's insistence and a good helping of cash, she was moved to a private home where she would receive a decent education, at the least. She didn't need it of course, she just had to pick up a book about something and she would know it inside and out. She never really told anyone about this which might have alerted them that she was something more than they thought. So, for four years of her life, she was raised in a home with limited access to her parents. If there wasn't anything wrong before then there was definitely a few screws lose when she finally got out. After four years, they realised that the voice was telling her things she just couldn't possibly know. It was telling her about the histories of those around her. She was finally released when she recounted her psychiatrist's life back to them. Her powers became somewhat obvious and there was a great deal of remorse and empty "sorry"s thrown at her but it didn't matter, right? She was back with her family.
You see, while she was growing up and having everyone tell her that there was something wrong with her, no one told her how to use her powers or when it was right for her to use her powers. She got in trouble in school after her way of dealing with bullies was to oust their entire lives to their peers. She would sit and daydream in class yet somehow, she was years ahead of everyone around her. AKA, she was collectively hated and simultaneously feared. She was bad and what she did wasn't particularly pleasant but she never intended for any of it to happen. That's what she told her parents at the least, when they said that she couldn't attend normal school anymore, that she couldn't fit in with normal people. That night, while she was meant to be sleeping, she overheard her father crying.
"Why couldn't she just be like the rest of them?" It's hard to describe what it's like to have your parents not even want you. Emilia doesn't do well with emotions so she did the only thing she could - she used her powers. When they went to bed that night, she took every picture from the house, every memory of her and burned them all. After, she went to her parents and despite Eliza's urges to stop, she reached into their minds and plucked every single memory of her. It took an hour, at best, to erase sixteen years of her life from the people who gave her it.
Packing the rest of her stuff, she got off the island and found her way to the nearest airport where she promptly booked a flight as far away as possible - America. She had family there, she reasoned, they could help her at the least. Within a week, she had found them. Or what was left, anyways. Her Grandmother was living alone on the West Coast so she went there. She was recognised, surprisingly, and questions were asked which she answered to the best of her abilities. She urged that her Grandmother never tell her parents about any of it. She understood - she had a share of power as well and it was painful to maintain.
Emilia stayed there for a while but it hurt too much so she eventually moved on. Her Grandmother told her of somewhere that could help her control her gift, help her control who she was.
Delphina. Emilia thought it was a somewhat decent idea so she went along with it. When she arrived to the school, she was asked a great deal of questions, despite the fact that she did have a secure position there. When asked who her legal guardians were, she misunderstood. So they asked about her parents. And, for the life of her, she couldn't remember a single thing about them.
I don't have any. She finally reasoned.
