Texarkana is a real place, and I am keeping it mostly true to form as far as the layout and buildings except as I note in here and a small but of expansion as the highway mentioned is not quite done in real life. So if you get curious or lost, feel free to look up a map. Or Google any buildings or parks I mention to get a better feel for it.
Exceptions.
I am adding another 10,000 people to the current population.
Commercial and residential areas will be spread out a bit further than they are now.
Downtown has been recently refurbished and repopulated, inspired as well by the construction on the Grim. This is a purely human reaction and no ties to the prince or any other supernatural can be found to cause this sudden interest in rebuilding downtown.
Buildings I have added.
St. Alexander's Home and Hospital to the Mentally Ill: or to the locals "St. Alexander's" this is a two fold mental hospital, one for the clinically and one for the criminally, insane. Built before the city was founded by an ancestor of St. Alexander. It boasts a remarkable success rate in treating patients, and is a well recommended facility for those seeking mental help. It also holds (separated by a steel and concrete wall, tight unit security, and a host of other fail safes) a harsh and solid facility for the criminally insane. Many inmates have come out of their psychosis well enough to go to court in sound mind and body for an appeal, though, oddly, most of those that do plead guilty to their crimes.
Estis Diner: this quaint little bar and grill was an established Elysium before the city began to spread. Said to be owned by a man named Alex, it is a medieval themed establishment, with a surprising amount of authentication to its period food and decor. One could easily believe this is how they ate back then. Nestled a couple of blocks away from the Grim, this restaurant (what was formally Cinema 218) holds very Christian hours of closing at 8 and being closed on Sundays, though, as some of the staff live in the apartment upstairs, there is always someone around, and the door is always open, to select few.
