Bio

I'm an eighteen-year-old autistic trans boy with a great love of people and Pokémon. I play Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop RPGs, and am heavily involved in the Nuzlocke Forums. I tend to ramble quite a lot and can seem rather pretentious, as I have a large vocabulary and tend to utilize it without thinking. I swear I'm a nice person I just sometimes Aspie out and end up going on super intellectual, disjointed rants.

I'm an advocate for civil rights and hope to become a journalist some day. I'm very queer and have a wonderful girlfriend, and hope one day our love will not be regarded negatively.

I generally enjoy well-executed genre deconstructions and stories which focus on plot and characters. Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Gintama, Baccano!!, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and Avatar: the Last Airbender, among others. As a roleplayer, I tend to lean towards these shows and elements.

@Crusader Lord
A wish that both has extensive implications and is well-worded. A sample character I rolled had the wish "I wish I was able to sense suicidal and self-destructive thoughts and save those with them," which I would use as an example. Note: if you choose to increase your ToF by wish, you can't by age and I would strongly recommend against increasing exp by age if you choose a wish like this. Witches made from these wishes tend to be much more formidable even if their bearers have a relatively low ToF.

@Guardian Angel Haruki She would indeed get a +1 boost to 8 ToF!

@sassy1085 Absolutely! Sweet avatar by the way.

@snake153 It can, but keep in mind it can stagnant your exp growth significantly. And you gain abilities in addition to what you had at the previous level, yes, sorry for being unclear about that.
@Crusader Lord Heheh, thanks. I am indeed! Also, I see this is your first post? I feel honored. .//.

@BCTheEntity No worries! I'm sorry about the inconvenience, just trying to make sure I keep the roleplay balanced. >> It's my first time GMing in a long while. Also, further discussion should be moved to the OOC thread, I think.
Name: Saeki Keiko
Magical Girl Title: Hummingbird
Age: 11
Gender: Female
Appearance:
A small, round child. Keiko is an elementary schooler and looks the part. She has long, navy blue hair and round blue eyes, and is usually struck by an expression of awe or wonder. When not wearing her school uniform, she usually wears pastel sundresses or frilly blouses, and almost never goes without some kind of hat or ribbon. She looks the very epitome of innocence.
Magical Girl Appearance: She dons a frilled, feathery sleeveless light yellow dress, with hazel highlights here and there. A long, flowing scarf compliments it, glittering in iridescent blues and teals. She wears a feathered hat much like this, and tights to match. Her shoes are similar in color to her scarf, and are adorned with yellow feathers.
Personality: Wide-eyed and wet-behind-the-ears, Keiko is unassuming, shy, and curious. She loves adventure and will often strike out on her own into the forest, searching for bugs and berries and all sorts of fun! She prefers to be alone, as it's a lot more interesting and less distracting to survey things on her own.
She's an only child and used to the freedom that comes with it. Her parents both work and she's been taking care of herself since she was about 7, making her own meals and sometimes putting herself to bed. While she's quite independent, she's also rather emotionally detached and inexperienced because of this. She's rather naive to the feelings and motives of others and does her best to avoid any kind of interaction that won't result in something interesting happening.
The only company she likes to keep is that of the creatures in the forest behind her house. Insects, spiders, birds and deer, she's a regular Disney princess, minus the 'animals love her' part. She's often covered with scratches and bites from her attempted 'friendships.'
Skills:
Intuitive: Keiko picks up skills quite instinctually and is very good at connecting them with abstract concepts.
Charming: Despite rarely interacting with them, Keiko enamors those around her. People tend to want to protect her, and dote on her.
Perceptive: She's very alert and usually the first person in a room to notice when something's changed. She's also very adept at eavesdropping and gleaning small bits of information.
Independant: Especially for her age, Keiko can take care of herself, particularly domestic needs.
Abilities: Keiko gains increased mobility and great speed, as well as improved reflexes that allow her to react in time with her newfound agility.
Flight of Fancy allows her to convert her scarf into a pair of shining wings, enabling flight and the ability to whip up razor-sharp wind blasts.
The wings are properly called Wings of Whimsy, and grant her the ability to convert creative energy into enchantments that she can apply to herself or others.
Wildspeak is an ability that allows her to communicate with animals. While it doesn't guarantee their allegiance, it's a rather useful ability, particularly for information-gathering.
Quill Barrage is her most offensive ability, allowing her to convert feathers to sharp, dangerous projectile weapons. Often used in conjunction with the enchantments from Wings of Whimsy.
Weapon(s): A hardwood baton that doubles as a telescope. It can be used to see things in infrared, magical auras, and life force, among other things. It's more of a tool than an offensive weapon, but it can pack a punch.
Brief History: The only child of two busy office workers, Keiko has been raised to be independent from a young age. She's been a latchkey kid since the age of 5, cooking her own meals since 7, and putting herself to bed since 9. This never particularly harmed her, per se, but it did a number on her social life and abilities. She learned to entertain herself and withdrew at school, the quiet, studious child in the back of the room who only stood to ask questions about things that interested her. When she did speak, she seemed rather precocious and knowledgeable, but coaxing her to communicate was usually a futile endeavor. Even at 11, she still rarely speaks to her classmates, preferring the company of wildlife and now her fairy.
Fairy Name: Tsubame
Fairy Appearance:

Fairy Personality: A matronly, proper sort of fairy, Tsubame sensed a power potential heart to ignite one day whilst wandering through the forest. She was surprised, if not slightly dismayed to see it belonged to a girl so young, but contacted her regardless, as she couldn't afford to be picky. She's rather temperamental and traditional, often attempting to educate Keiko in the ways of the world and becoming irritated at the girl's eccentric behavior. Despite her hang-ups, she truly cares for the child, and has found herself almost becoming something of a surrogate mother to the curious loner.
Theme Song: Pizzicato Drops
@BCTheEntity Alright, thanks! And I'd prefer to stay away from thought manipulation/mind control, if at all possible, I had a discussion with my co-GM yesterday on how they could be destructive to a roleplaying environment, which is why I scrapped Lucy as a character for this. If you want to run the character by me and her first, that can work. ^^
Puella Magi Dum Spiro Spero

While I breathe, I hope.

We've all heard the stories, be they from religion, folklore, or gossip. Malevolent supernatural beings that exist only to bring grief and suffering to those on Earth, who seduce their victims with a kiss and drive them to despair and death. They lurk in dark corners and under children's beds, and are combatted only by chosen warriors, those of the conviction and innate strength to face down the ultimate evil...

Witches and Mahou Shoujo are locked in a never-ending cycle of battle, bloodshed, and rebirth, all for the sake of a small white creature's merciless, coldly logical whims. In exchange for a wish, the pied piper known as Kyubey contracts young human females to a fate of battle and eventual despair as a Magical Girl. No matter their wish, no matter their motivation, they must fight, fight or be killed, fight or let others die, fight or succumb to the ever-growing taint of their Soul Gems.

This is a Puella Magi Madoka Magica roleplay set in modern-day Santa Barbara, a Californian coastal city which is a popular destination for tourists, immigrants, and families alike, and a hunting ground rife with Witches. Magical Girls, be they passers-by or call the territory home, cooperate, compete, and clash, generating the energy Kyubey desires and struggling to survive.

Where do you fit into this chaotic scene? Are you a veteran, trying to rid her territory of witches and defend it from other magical girls? An idealistic greenhorn who wants to be a fairytale heroine? A jaded youth who just wants to survive, and is willing to do so at the expense of others?

There will be some randomization regarding starting stats for variety's sake, but the majority of your character will be determined by you, the roleplayer. Each starting stat may be rerolled once, and they are negotiable. The amount of despair you receive after certain encounters will be randomized, however.

(note: most of this system has been adopted from various roleplays I've read, most notably this. If you are the owner of any part of this system and wish for me to stop using it, I will comply.)

This roleplay will have a Discord once the main cast is decided. I am not certain what the player limit will be, but it most likely be no more than 10, not counting myself and the co-GM. There will be some plot direction, but nothing along the lines of railroading. Feel free to suggest lines of plot to me or personally PM me about things you want to be kept secret from others!

If you have a specific character you want to play and your stats don't line up with her, I encourage you to roll (heheh) with the punches, but exceptions can be made! I'm not a monstrous, unyielding GM, I promise.

You can die. This does not mean you are kicked from the roleplay, you can play your fallen character's witch and/or roll another. The tone of this roleplay will be similar to that of the Madoka Magica anime--while there will be humor and light-hearted moments, it is serious.

I'd prefer you be available at least once a week, but if you're busier than that, don't think you can't join! We'll schedule sessions based on availabity and make certain players who are less active are still plot-relevant!

All you have to do is post here saying you're interested and I'll roll your ToF, experience and despair! Post your character sheets here once you're finished!

Players thus far: NightinGem (GM), byteoflogic (co-GM), GreenGoat, Shaymin, Veiled Angel, Flamelord, BCTheEntity, snake153, Crusader Lord, Guardian Angel Haruki, sassy1085.

Status: We've reached ten! Maybe another, but I don't want to overwhelm myself, this is my first time GMing since middle school.
@BCTheEntity You can use those rolls if you want, I'm not super picky and I believe ya, and feel the pain of wasting luck on illegitimate rolls. The high despair balances pretty well and her knowing the truth about Witches might be advantageous, given she might shatter her own soul gem before Witching and potentially TPKing? I rerolled your stats btw and I'm not joking I got
Experience: 6
ToF: 7
Despair: 21%
So if that's a bit more appealing to you you can use it, it's a tad less powerful but stil works for the character.

@snake153 Alrighty, let me pull up the ol' diceroller!
Experience: 7
ToF: 1
Starting despair: 10%

I think I have enough interest that I'll open up an OOC thread!
