In a world where magic exists, yet not everyone can use it. Those who desire to go for the path of magic face great hardship in training under the rare few who mastered this path. In this world, children are usually done with the basic school system by the age of 16, then they have to pick a career to live their life doing. Most follow their parents and work under them. But some choose to follow the path of magic and seek out the various master to learn the basics of magic and start their journey, their reasons for doing this is entirely their own, they could actually be following their parent's foot steps but aren't allowed to be taught by their parents for many reasons, they could of had some encounter in their life that made them admire magic, heck some could simply be wanting to learn to simply learn.
Masters of magic are highly revered and feared to many, though the exact number of masters are unknown, only few designated masters are even allowed to take apprentices to ensure the highest survival rate for them. these master's authority can be much greater than even the various kingdoms, for there is an unspoken rule that these master in exchange for peace they are allowed to do what ever they wish in their territories. The reason for these rules is there use to be much more kingdoms than currently exist, multiple of them was wiped off the map because they angered a Master Wizard.
Our story takes place in, a huge hidden valley surrounded by mountains except on one edge which contains a beach to the sea, the territory of a wizard simply known as 'The Dragon' as a group of teenagers (4-5, ages 16-17) travel to train under this wizard and learn magic.
The world consists of 5 continents seperated into different corner of the worlds, 4 of them circling the center fifth continent which outclasses them in size, each with various kingdoms. There is three major human kingdoms. The Dottidian Empire, which owns the northeastern continent in it's entirety. Then the other two human kingdoms The religious sect of the Stairia empire and the Voston Dynasty fight for control on the southeastern continent. The North western continent consists of Beast-kin tribes, they are people who look human but have animal features (animal ears and tail for some of the most simple ones), these people was original the creation of wizards who preformed experiments on humans and animals.
The southwestern continent is a barren wasteland, there use to be other human kingdoms that existed here but they was wipped off the map for their own greed of going against the wizards, these place has never been recovered only things that live here is monsters that strive in the wasteland, as an example to all others. The final continent is called the Neutral zone, small towns live on the edge of the continent where people of the two known races intermingle all they desire, they trade with the various kingdoms and the unknown amount of wizards that find this land their home. This continent is covered in a verity of landscapes because of the wizards, and monsters love to roam these lands because many are the experiments and creations of these wizards.
Within these various kingdoms there are many beliefs. A common belief in the human kingdoms is discrimination against non-human species, while the Dottidian Empire will take them as slaves, the other kingdoms like the Stairia empire will outright kill them seeing them as vile impure creatures. The neutral zone is only place that various races can live in peace because there is no kingdoms, it is simply communities striving together to survive. The world has a shared currency the only difference being the picture on the currency, it consists of Bronze, Silver, and Gold coin, 100 bronze=1 silver, 100 silver=1gold
The magic system in this world works in a system of Runes and Magic Circles. In such a way magic users create magic circle designs in their minds using various runes they have discovered or learned of in their time. They then project this magic circle into existence before them, the bigger and more complex a magic circle is the longer it takes to use, more magic required, and harder it is to control. These Circles use these limitless runes to create the spells wizards cast. While the specific design of a magic circle doesn't matter, as long as it has the required runes it will normally succeed, as long as the wizard casting it has enough magic, control, and time to do so. There are other special forms of magic circles for enchanting, summoning (first time), rituals, and similar things, they follow the basic rules but require physically drawn/created magic circles instead of mental creations.
Example: a magic circle consisting of the magic runes with the meanings 'Magic' 'Small' 'Sphere' will create a small sphere of pure magic energy before them.
