~ History ~
Ever since Morgan came into class declaring she had power over helium “just like her mom”, Lola spent everyday excitedly waiting her power to appear. One by one her classmates would come in proud with their new elemental power. Even Patrick, with the lowest scores of her entire class had one before Lola. Still, she didn’t give up hope, telling herself that it was just a matter of time. When days turned into weeks and Lola still didn’t have an element to call her own, her worry turned into self-loathing. Something must have been wrong with her. Gone was the happy-go lucky Lola.
Lola fought her parents hard about college. She saw no reason in going even though her grades were fine. What good would she be without a power. They finally agreed to send her to a small technical college where she received a degree in biology. Lola loved her courses, except for the practicals and labs. Everyone else was able to use the power, but Lola was stuck on the sidelines watching. Her bitterness just grew.
Not even bothering to look for a job, afraid of the rejection she was sure to get, Lola answered the first help ad she saw for The Neptune Hotel. She was a maid in charge of setting the robo-maids up each morning, and maintenancing them when they inevitably broke. At least the hotel had a view. Concierge would often send up requests a robo-maid wouldn’t be able to handle, small errands that helped break up the monotony of the day.
