Tae crossed her arms, looking the man in the eyes, trying to read his intentions. Why would a man like this one want her to break into the Golden Cat? Not that Taegan was against robbing a place like that, but what did this guy have to gain from this? He was clearly better off than most, and rich enough to afford the Cat's... services. The Golden Cat had the potential of being the score of the century, provided the intel this guy offered was any good. Plus, he wasn't hiring her, really, he was simply giving her information in exchange for her promise to rob the place. Normally, she was hired to steal certain keepsakes or "borrow" valuable items, but he was just asking her to steal whatever she wanted for herself. Certainly, he was setting her up. What if he wasn't, though? She would be denying herself a fortune if she turned him down!
"Why," she demanded.
"Because there are holes in the security, and they need to be revealed. No better way to bring change than ruin someone's business, right?" he replied, clearly nervous. She considered his answer for a moment. He was definitely hiding something, but she didn't care enough to find out what it was. That answer would have to suffice. Even if she did get caught, she wouldn't be worse off than she already was. The rat plague had definitely lowered demand for those with her profession.
"Fine. What's your information?" she asked. The man visibly relaxed and held out a piece of paper in reply. Tae accepted the paper and watched as the man walked away. Unfolding the paper, she rolled her eyes. It was blank. Not that she cared, she had already made up her mind to rob the Cat, with or without the man's information. It did leave her wondering why he had done this, though. Did he really think a thief on the street had any worth to her word? She chuckled a bit, then crumpled the paper and shoved it into her pocket.
