Royal Blood- Rayne

"The assassin was a woman... I remember that. Her tone, she said something about...Ghosts... Fulfilling a contract." Penelope's face paled. "...Something about visiting another royal family... The only one anywhere near here would be..."

Mikan's eyes opened widely as she finished the thought. "... Renalta." She looked at the rest of the party. "... This just became personal."

Rayne was not an emotionless person, but rarely were his true feelings visible to others. A weakness of his, however, was the feeling of being toyed with. And the fact that they expected him to believe the lies was downright insulting. Personal indeed. One did not need to be observant to see the true anger on Rayne's face, and he was completely fine with this. Finally, after so many days of showing none of himself to his companions, the persona and the true man inside agreed on something: this assassin wasn't fooling anyone, and would pay dearly for attempting to do so.

But perhaps the others did not see what he did. Lying convincingly, Rayne had learned over the years, was much easier than getting someone to believe the truth they did not understand. This conversation had to be moved in the right direction for the group to properly do their job, and who better to steer it than him?

Realizing that this would require Rayne to 'discover' the truth with the rest of the group, he allowed them to believe that his anger was a reaction to the news that his queen was being targeted and moved on with a perfectly reasonable question, one to bring the right later questions forward despite the answer being meaningless. "Wait, Penelope... How did you hear the assassin speak of this other planned attack? Who was she talking to?"

"I don't know..." She said. "If there was someone else in the room, I... I didn't see..."

Allowing a moment for that to sink in with the rest of the group, he continued with another question, slipping a bit of Confused Farmboy into his expression while asking "Penelope, where were you during the attack? Did the assassin see you? Why would she say these things in your presence?"

"I was... I was in the middle of the room. I'm not sure why I wasn't killed... The assassin must have seen me. I'm not sure why... This is all too much..."

"I'm sorry if this is upsetting you," Rayne lied. He then looked to his fellow Blades. "From what I can gather, this means that the assassin was aware of Penelope's presence, likely knew exactly who she was, and fed her the information she has told us of a contract, ghosts and our Queen being in danger." Of course, anyone could have already come to this conclusion on their own, but bringing Rayne along on a journey of played out discovery allowed for even the slowest of companions to keep up. "We must warn the queen of impending attack despite the fact that she is likely not truly a target of this assassin. I suggest we stay in the city and investigate further, find out how the assassin was so able to walk through these halls unseen, and question the former ranger on what he knows."

Turning to the Crown-Prince, he continued. "You and your daughter are the likely targets of this assassin, who I assume is still in town, waiting for your bolstered defenses to return to normal in the wake of the forged discovery of her intention kill Queen Kouri. If you can manage to somehow put even more defenses between your family and harm, do so as soon as you can. Keep watch over your daughter." A raised eyebrow over the last statement, adding other meaning than spoken, hopefully told the observant Xavier that he should not trust Penelope. Looking then to Mikan and the other party members, he concluded "I intend to go to the Rat Skull Charmé shop. If you've nothing to add to all to this, we should send that message to Kouri and go there immediately."
Just put in my second Royal Blood post. I felt that my first one was too quick, not revealing enough, so I apologize for my novella of a post. Hopefully it will allow you all to understand what kind of person Rayne really is.
Royal Blood- Rayne Walker

After his calculated, precise speech, Rayne eased into a simple, almost effortlessly carried personality of polite nervousness while soaking up every detail of his surroundings that he could. While his fellow Blades' members introduced themselves, he paying close attention to the room itself. A man on a throne, a falcon with no revealed purpose, a notable absence of guards in the room and a silent girl standing in the shadows. There was a precision here, a method in the details, and this told Rayne all he needed to know about the Crown-Prince and what kind of game he played. The man was not only powerful; he was a strategist. Whether friend or foe to the Blades, he was a danger to Rayne Walker so long as he paid the chameleon-like pseudo-hero any attention.

Every detail ended up becoming a note of interest in Rayne's mind, the notes quickly becoming a long, detailed list of questions that needed answers. Why did the Crown-Prince keep his daughter at a distance? Why had the gargoyles not been activated by Xavier's father as he was being attacked? Why were there no human guards nearby? Could Xavier himself be responsible for these deaths? Were the murders personal or part of a larger political game? Few of these questions mattered, but one important piece of the puzzle needed to be addressed before any other. And after the shaky impressons made by his companions, Rayne was the one to pursue the solution.

Penelope was even more dangerous than her father. Her story, her current state, everything about this girl stood out to Rayne. As her father beckoned her to the table, Rayne was slipping silently from his simple mask to a more delicate, soft persona.

Knowing early in his quest for absolute power that just being a fighter wouldn't do, Rayne begun searching for truly heroic and wholly good people to lift the personalities of for his own sick use. After a few uneventful nights Soulwalking in the city guards of Renalta's capital, he set fire to the stable outside an inn and waited in the body of a nearby guard. His labor bore fruit, as the man entered the burning building and pulled out not only several patrons of the bar, but also a child. The way he comforted the kid, the kind and understanding compassion presented by the guard, was a perfect mask to wear when having to fake such silly humanity.

Benevolent Guard. "Crown Prince. I must ask for your permission to speak with your daughter."

"...If you must." Xavier responds, his look cold and foreboding.

Nodding in silent thanks, Rayne quietly leaves his chair and walks to the other end of the table, sitting next the Penelope. "Hello, Penelope. My name is Rayne." Softer words, light as air. "I work for the Queen's Blades of Renalta. Your father has asked us to help find and bring justice to those that brought tragedy to your house." Bring her in with the story. Slip in Honest Farm Boy. "When I was younger, I was the only survivor of a bandit attack, and as the only witness to such horrors, I was forced to retell the events of my terrible experience over and over again. So I understand the weight of what I must request of you, but please understand the importance of it.

"Penelope, I need you to tell me everything you remember of what happened before, during and after the assassinations, in as much detail as possible. Return to Benevolent Guard. "Take your time if you wish."
Alright, Team Royal Blood. Private convo is up.
I have a question about the Royal Blood situation.

So we're now at the table with Xavier, ready to ask him anything before beginning the investigation. But what about the documents? What do I, as a player, do to read them? Do I simply make a post asking to see them? How do small actions like that work?

Also, other Royal Blood people (Maxim, Tempest, Aerandir and Selvi). Do you guys want to have a private convo where we can share notes and decide how to move forward as a group?
Alright, everyone in Royal Blood have introduced themselves. What a strange group we are when put together.

And now we have to solve a mystery. Three guys and two girls working together to unmask the villain? We're nearing serious Scooby Doo territory.

I will ask you all, to, at the top of your posts, mark WHAT MISSION YOUR POSTS ARE FOR.

I second this request.

Sorry about that. I added the mission name to my post.
Just made my first post. I didn't know how long one should be, so I focused on the important points of my character and how his perspective will be delivered through his time in the RP.

So how'd I do?
Royal Blood- Rayne Walker

"What, are your names... And why did you choose to volunteer to come to a kingdom which openly disdains the one you work for."

Farm Boy deep in thought. He tilted his head to the side, gazing off at nothing in particular, as if all his focus was on trying to formulate an answer to the Crown-Prince's question. A rehearsed pose, a memorized action, one of hundreds that made up the character of Rayne Walker.

Of course, this action was learned from extensive Soulwalking in the bodies of young Renaltan farm boys. Though his current forged personality usually takes the form of a young lord- polite, educated, understanding, willful- Rayne knew that people usually noticed and appreciated the actions that reminded them of his origins. However, the Crown-Prince may not yet know where Rayne claims to have come from. It made little sense for the young Queen's Blade to share his biography with the man unless asked, but it was possible that enough of these rehearsed movements, accompanied by a more commoner-sounding way of wording certain things, would allow the Crown-Prince to pick up on the origins of this persona. If not, even better, for that meant that he wasn't paying nearly enough attention to see through the disguise.

Young Lord before royalty. Stepping forward, clearing his throat, Rayne begun to speak in a respectful tone with a layered-on hint of nervousness. "My name, Crown-Prince Xavier, is Rayne Walker." Add some Ambassador. "I chose to come here in the hopes that my people and yours might find a way to peacefully coexist." Treading lightly over a sore topic. "From what I'm to understand, you feel that Renalta and Liveria believe in things that are too different for peace, but both our being here and your request for us to be here in the first place prove that there's greater need for us to come together than there is for our kingdoms to want a divide." Kind Commoner to finish it. "Darker times loom ahead, and only by working together can we make our way through the darkness. This is why I joined the Queen's Blades, and this is why I'm here." Hopeful nervous gaze.
Azathoth said Can't wait for this.

And PCStuffin, that was a nice pic. I wish I could do that for our team/

Thanks. I had to get all kinds of fancy with Paint to do it.

I was thinking of also making some for the other teams. I still got the blank template.
