You have to wonder if Greece does things to people. Before the Ottomans, the Byzantines were a stupid ttl sicknasty level of decadent court filled with backstabbing kinslayers. IIRC, one of those backstabbing kinslayers payed crusaders on the way to the holy land to help him backstab his kin so he could slay him and take the throne. Dick move.

It wasn't the Ottomans, really - the guy had strict orders not to do wacky shit like that, and he doesn't care about the Sultan's orders and goes attacking Vienna anyway, the absolute madman. More like a solo endeavor. But hey, I guess that's what 120 years of corruption leaking out of every orifice will do to an Empire.
