He released her, and gave a quick dust to his left shoulder. His cold eyes, crimson in color met with the boy's that were also crimson in color. He could find no roman numeral etched into the right, so he had to assume this one was human. It'd be pretty inconvenient if there was more than five of them running rampant somewhere, nearly immortal with respect to body composition and the fact that they didn't age. Royce's claim was enough for Salforge to heed without second guessing. Placing his hand behind his head, stroking his neck and raising a nonchalant shrug. His palm was laid flat and the narrow pass of the alley restricted even tighter, securing all exits.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we're now boxed in." he said proceeding to find an empty a parking lot dumpster to sit on.

Gavin on the other hand, began to quickly assess what he had seen. The black haired male with the red eyes seemed to possess some manner of abjuration, protective spells of some sort that seemed to have decent damage resistance, but not infallible as the cold air managed to pass through with little complication. This was just his first impression, easily changeable pending on what else happened by this enemy. His keen eyes sharpened as the woman the male was protecting offered her name and expressed her suppressed rage. Paying special attention to her, she constructed what seemed to be blood, although hardened and about as dark as his heart, if that were possible.

This was a bad turn of events...for the woman. If it got any colder, they'd quickly see who would be the one that started moving more sluggishly and how effective her blood would be if it was frozen. As her twin projectiles entered his range, the temperature dropped, and the black mesh of darkness waft past them, turning them into onyx colored slabs of ice, shattering as they hit the ground. Gavin placed two fingers on his head, his dull face growing somewhat sorrow-filled, before executing a taunt.

"Bang."

His body tilted over in a discombobulated contortion, and icy wind trailed from his breath. The darkness rose from his feet, and quickly traveled upward to consume his body that had gone limp. This was him "Playing dead" And the heartless from earlier flocked through the cold regardless of the hostility of the unforgiving temperatures. They proceeded to feed Gavin's darkness, effectively increasing his range as the stretches of where the shadow lingered across the ground stretched further.

"Kid-ding" he said, catching his balance, and lashing forward with a grasp of his hand. From the base of his feet, the darkness traveled up his arm, and extended into an arm itself. It was whirled forward with all intentions of grabbing Ryoko as she liked to be called, with a touch of cold. Because this was an alleyway, Gavin had anticipated this working by a simple jump, or to parry. His arm was low enough that she could duck or roll away, either way, it wasn't very speedy but the limited space gave him more options.
Under the veil of shadows, there was a red cape that tattered in the wind. A rather young man wandering down the way of narrow passes of hollow bastion's more metropolitan areas. He'd been unhooded and seemed to take rather light, but slow steps towards the end before stopping. Raising his lazy eyes, he saw from the darkness two more silhouettes quickly move inside. First instinct told him to otherwise let them be and he continued walking.

Walking for felt like a weeks time, in search of the gathering spot on this world, only his third day on the job. The red-haired youth was prompted to find them, no real description of their faces, but he had a single location in mind. Trudging along, bat heartless seemed to fly past, quickly stopping and marveling over the teen as if they'd fallen in love. He possessed a potent and strong scent that they could smell, the darkness that wrapped around his heart completely distracted them from their master's tasks.

The mercenary turned his head, Ryoko would surely follow.

"Does that always happen? Seems the heartless have...someone in mind?"

Salforge's eye tinted and flickered bright red for a moment. The teen he and Ryoko had been looking at, hardly seemed like a harmless resident, the empire had a massive registrar of the locals after intervening on this world and building the factory. The heartless persisted, but watching the teen, the mercenary noted he put up little to no signs of bother or even resistance against the beasts. While they possessed or show no means of harm he just stood there, as if his rights were suddenly revoked. Then he did the oddest thing, he raised both of his hands and put them behind his head.

"Um...is this kid serious?"

"....." he said nothing, it only made this situation more awkward and equally as daunting.

Lifting his hands slowly, the mercenary could finally see it. A detonator switch, his eyes flickered again hearing a swift press. He spun around cupping Ryoko under his left arm and threw up his right to condense a quick three-layered wall the radius of the alleyway between them and the stranger. As if he were per a terrorist faction, his entire body ignited like a nitrogen bomb, there was a cool breeze and that spot went up and froze, though not passing too heavily beyond Salforge's barrier. The air quickly grew cold and the mercenary used those seconds to partially code Ryoko with his shells.

"I take it, this is one of the ones we're looking for. Fine." Salforge stood up and peered past his barrier, a pool of darkness swam, with a slight tint of blue. The teen's clad was flapping about in the now subzero temperatures, that was more of what Salforge worried about, but he unlike Ryoko was cold-blooded and could function perfectly fine, his extra coding would at least keep her up against the lowered temperatures.

"You're with The Empire?" his first words spoken, the red haired teen separated the veil of darkness and could now be seen. Pointing back at himself, "Gavin."

"Not much of a talker are you sport? Fine by me, long as I get to waste you that name is irrelevant to me."
I'll be posting as Gavin pretty soon, since I omitted my bio I'll be explaining my affiliation to UH in my first post.
This wasn't going anything like the mercenary would've expected, one had to keep in mind he'd only been on active deployment in Commander Capricious' division of the Empire's armed forces as a hired mercenary for a little under a week. He'd been around others such as General Ciel Odine, and Haruka, for over three years and completely away from these new faces. They knew him by name, they knew him by reports, but they didn't know him like the other's did. His experience with Ryoko would likely be similar to how he worked with Ciel, if he were to be too crass and uncooperative he could potentially endanger himself.

Snapping from his daunting state of self-reflection, Salforge's eyes fell on the maid that lead them out of the elevator, and sure enough this was nothing like what he was expecting. Although he wasn't present for their conversation, Ryoko was given specific orders to come here and fortify this location from the emperor himself. A leader regulates his manpower and the chain of command is always aware of what their soldiers are doing. To surprise another General...Salforge's eyes hovered over to Ryoko. As he scanned the room by panning his head from left shoulder to right, and right shoulder to left it was as lively as it could be.

Ryoko's intensity was determined by her presence. The mercenary could've made an abrasive comment, but his eyes flickered and he chose to resolve his unease with silence and eliminating that need as "petulant". Salforge stepped backwards and waited as the elevator doors remained opened, with the hark that echoed from Ryoko's rage she wasn't long before she returned, but not without a grim glare of belligerence.

"Does this sort of break in command and briefing happen often?" Salforge said to Ryoko as the elevator descended.

She never did answer his question, it was his guess, that was the last thing intended. When the elevator reached the ground level they'd quickly passed into the communication room. A brief message was made, he leaned against the door as Ryoko came out. She made it a point to point out a loophole in a direct order, back to his question from how information was passed down the chain of command it was in disarray with this lack of communication prior. He unfolded his arms, and stood straight, pushing all the weight to his left leg.

"With any luck we could find someone that scouts for them. Is that what you mean?"
ignore this.
Salforge tossed the side of his overcoat aways, spreading his black denim jeans and forming a mild gust. As he'd entered the room after Catherine whom was miffed, although silent. As per usual, the mercenary was greater by "preferred name" and by preferred, it was her preference.

Tin Man.

Had he the standard roundabout of thoughtfulness and feeling, he'd ring her in laughter because it was quite the jest. Alternative to this, he simply egged this exasperation on by replying with his usual disrespect. "Nice to see you too Ryokomata" (He's calling her cat-woman, but using her name instead of "Neko") Salforge said and gave an unimpressed and dull expression. He quickly was given a very short-winded brief before a portal of darkness had surfaced. Things had seemed to be rather tame for the moment, Salforge paused for a moment looking back at Catherine to whom had a fixed scowl across her face as she glared at the mercenary with scornful eyes. Soon he vanished and was swallowed whole by the blackness surrounding both him and General Ryoko.

The air was cold, the sounds of the machines went along and aloft without rest. They stood inside the lobby just outside the main area, the mercenary looked to his left, then to his right. The portal of darkness had thusly dissipated and his eyes did a quick pan of the room, then further out. This had to be no place other than the factory located in Hollow Bastion, from the Castle it wasn't exactly in walking distance. The Bronzed finish found in the pipes, Salforge touched the glass door and ran his hand down to make an annoying screeching sound against the glass.

"Whoa seriously?" He said luring Ryoko into conversation, "There no one here but us, and theres no dust to be found...when did we enter the new age of microfiber glass?" and ended on a sarcastic note.

He poised and released a sigh. "Anyways, you said we're to secure the perimeter right? It's already secure..."

This was likely a most confusing thing for Salforge to say, an easy question of how can that be? Yet he was 100% serious with this declaration. It came down to understanding just how powerful his the extents of his Steel Heart truly was. He snapped his fingers, and made everything visible and reflective for just an instant, Ryoko would notice it as it would only last a second, and that was more than enough time to catch glimpse of the factory from top to bottom. Covered in blocks, blocked off and boxed around every inch of everything. Large ones, done so in seconds and from there he'd proceed to layer them, something time consuming, but when the shells reflected the viewer's sight back at them they vanished, they were imperceptible anyone but it's handler, unless he wanted to make them visible. It was no different than looking at Salforge, it was anyone's guess what he really looked like considering he himself is always coded. Turning to Ryoko, he had something of an eerie feeling.

"Ryoko, if it's just us, and yet I have this tickling sensation we won't be alone for very long. Don't"

Salforge stopped talking in the middle of his thought, and he turned his head.
Name: Gavin
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Personality: Gavin is really quiet, to such a point its almost awkward. He holds it in, but in truth his dreams are the scale of a catalog of worlds. It's in his nature to withhold information for an X-number of reasons. Anywhere from self-protection or even just his somewhat timid nature with talking to people. He's introverted which is not to be mistaken for synonymous with "anti-social". To put it plainly he has limited energy and a constant sense of caution of others. However despite this airy and ambivalence surrounding just how to feel towards Gavin he's quite...refined in fighting...refined in killing.

His nature doesn't seem or appear like an acceptable aesthetic for him in appearance alone. Where he pretty much has fallen off the bus in terms of social interaction, it's made up in the clear cut address of his combat competency. Skilled with all forms of melee armaments, familiar with pressure points, basic kido, and even able to identify vital points on warm-bloods, and weaknesses on all manner of machinations as well as the feral creatures of darkness. Gavin's acts are nearly extinct, nigh feral and beast-like, it'd be comparing him to a rapid animal. He instinctively can immediately identify strength from the sense of smell, and presence.

Faction: Unbound Hearts

Weapon: Gavin utilizes one set of impeccable armor broken into three pieces.

Curse of Akreiss (Gauntlet, Left Arm) - An intricately designed gauntlet located on his left hand. Gavin has been unable to free his hand from the hold since it first appeared. With a chalky white finish, it's light and one third the weight of his arm. It's design was not meant to defend primarily, but it has been imbued to boost all of the body's known physical skills and perceptive senses. Because of this Gavin is able to jump a one story building with ease, at lift up to a maximum of six-hundred pounds on his own. His strength is determined by his base body weight of 193 lbs, and his jabbing speed of about 36mph from a stationary pose.

Darkwatch - (Wristwatch, Right Arm) - The darkwatch is a wristwatch that synchronizes with the user down to the flesh. It imbues them with a number of abilities related to stealth, camouflage, illusion, and self-visual augmentation. See, this in turn reflects on the fact Darkwatch is semi-sentient, meaning it's alive. Bound to the user's wrist, it has a function to react to the environment on it's own without Gavin truly doing much to influence a change. This weapon ability is known as "Extreme-Conditioning" which will enable Darkwatch to adapt in terms of camouflage.

Note: Gavin is normally naked with the exception of underwear and socks, the rest is provided from Darkwatch emulating clothing.

The Black Prism - The prism is the third and final piece of Gavin's set of armor. It in turn is not truly armor, rather it is a relic of some kind. At the center of Gavin's sternum, a transparent crystal is embedded inside of it. The Prism is what powers the other two pieces of armor, Gavin is fused with, but it seems almost impossible to remove from his body. In addition to being a potent power source, The Prism is closely related to the nature of Gavin's heart. Despite the fact that he's naturally good, he has a strong and potent alignment to darkness. Darkness has turned this prism black, yet has given Gavin a life blood. The major draw to the prism, should it be released from his body, he'd die instantly. His death in particular, guarantees he will not spawn a heartless or a nobody.

Powers/Abilities:

Abnormal Human Senses - All of Gavin's senses, of which includes the ability to detect heat, are amplified beyond human levels thanks to the effects of the prism. His sight is keener, sharper, and his eye can diffuse objects in motion while panning the background completely clearly. His ears can pick up sounds that echo off of objects, not sharp to hear a pin drop from more than 30 meters, but below that, yes. His sense of smell and taste are augmented to the point his tracking skills are vital.

Tracking - Gavin is by no means a hunter, but he's had some form of basic survival training. Tracking is more or less a professional skill, able to discern the size, weight, and species by utilizing visual clues and scents. He is also quickly able to discern time periods from how long an enemy or ally has visited an area, by doing simple measurements of footsteps and how potent their individual scents are.

Noesis - Gavin possesses a sanction of cognitive thought, or perhaps it's his intuition. Without pause or delay, Gavin quickly asserts his cognition with paramorphs inside of his head, like putting pieces together or playing a game of gungi exceeding all personal set expectations. It is the ability to quickly measure and immediately weigh three things. The situation, the environment, and all surrounding objects and persons to bring forth a keen countermeasure in a rather hastened fashion. It is far from standard intellect, at times appearing occult, but it intact isn't and mostly relies on extensively educated guesswork for a series of actions to be perceived as "correct" to bring Gavin to his desired outcome. Noesis however, is by no means infallible as it can be disrupted by an opponent with sharp instincts able to guess at Gavin's sequenced planned and prevent at least two or more of his steps to disrupt the entire sequence.

Frigid Vestige - "Within darkness, also exist unparalleled cold"

As per the prism, Gavin is a living deep freezer among all if not other things. From darkness, he draws upon the coldest temperatures and brings forth arctic levels of cold air and moisture. This manifests itself as darkness, the coldest of its kind. Victims of either direct touch can range anywhere from being slowed to halted in their tracks. Gavin's darkness is deep and vast, he can create a chasm about the size of a finished basement when utilizing the full reaches of it's range. Able to afflict the air as well as the ground, create projectiles, and is nigh immune to the effects of cold. Even Gavin's breath is a real icebreaker, he can even blow a cool gust of wind. Between the cold and the ice meshed with his darkness it leads to a number of other applications, none yet discovered.

Note: This part of my abilities will potentially be the only thing that grows with this character and will be implemented in post before it is added to the template itself.

Bio: Holding to omit this for now.
Aloft nothing but the edges of faint light, a faint but present sign of a silhouette sat in a windowsill. With but a leg dangled and arms folded, the motionless spec of life opened it's right eye. The was a reflective shine of red light from the iris, reflecting white letters "CI" in place of a pupil. They belonged to the mercenary, his eyes were cold as often a reflection of his ice-cold body. Where it not for the heart of steel, then his reanimation would be understood by others as grasping at straws.

From his perch he could hear echoes of rapid movement and loud clanking. Averting his eye to the storehouse, he simply rolled the eyes, he was off duty and unassigned. Playing "first responder" was never in his best interest, and when you had his salary, it'd have to be 3 times his current wages and shillings to pay for more initiative. Commonplace to mistake it for greed, but it was an exchange of camouflage, the trade of a hired arm to dirty their hands with the blood, sweat, and flesh of the client's enemies. The thought became a ravenous all consuming animal, all the more the mercenary thought, the darker his intentions then intern became.

He actually smiled, it seemed quite out of place for him, but as he stood from the window, it opened up behind him. A gust of air sucked inward from the slide, as the draft came in. It was none other than Catherine, General Ryoko's maid coming to retrieve the mercenary for an audience with "her master" as she often said bitterly. The mercenary tilted his head, slowly and cut a cold but heavy veil of ice towards the battle-turned maid.

"What does she want. Why didn't she come herself. Wasting my time, you-"

There was but the sound of something unsheathe, it was clean, it was fast, and most importantly the sound past in a mere flit. Fine steel, a rapier about 93 centimeters in length. Pointed directly in front of the mercenary's glowing eye, a scowl had appeared across the maid's face. Talking to her in such a tone was unacceptable, and thats putting the situation mildly. The mercenary took his finger and prodded against the tip of the rapier, in awe as he tried to examine it alongside Catherine's intentions on pulling it out on him. He was hardly even remotely sexually provocative or even active to be enticed by such a sadhist disguised invitation such as this (or so he thought to himself).

"Thats enough, I will not tolerate any more degradation from the likes of you military dog. It's scum like you that-"

"Remind you how a soldier becomes a serv-"

BASH!

The should of the metal shattering against the mercenary's head, and the steel splintered into pieces of loosened metallic shards. There was a loud ping, and right before Catherine's eyes, her Arc Blood Rapier, a prize from her past occupation has been repealed at a quarter swing across the mercenary's skull with the intent to slice his head clean through. She let out a high pitch scream of confusion mixed with anger and shock.

"Ouch...not me, the blade. That looks pretty damn expensive, I'm guessing you'll want me to replace that...well, i could always become your sword Catherine."

Her frustrated screams escalated, and she took him by the collar of his jacket and shook him violently, clearly forgetting he was still standing on the windowsill, held up by nothing but Catherine's hands flailing his torso back and forth.

"Ugh! Just come with me already, of all the mundane things, is obedience to an order really that difficult for you?!"

"Well no, not at all. Should you of all people, really be giving this reprimand to me?"

"Nein! Just be quiet and move your feet, military swine!"

"Yeah yeah, easy on the shaking...i'm seriously gonna fall to my death, for real this time."

In moments she'd pulled him through the window and they'd proceeded down the hallway to Ryoko's quarters.

Hey, to anyone with an empire character, would they have potentially known Trisean? He did serve as an agent for them for some time before joining the unbound hearts. Also, no one in the unbound hearts knows that.

Just to clarify, usually stating your longevity now will help resolve any issues of identity and level of familiar right away. My character is relatively new, and the way the Empire is set up, it's split into two "armies" so to speak, the second army is currently behind the curtain to be revealed later. All current Empire character fall under the first of the two armies. Unless Piercing light has any objections to that, we should all be on some level of familiar with each other right away.

Clacverk finds Salforge to be bothersome and unreliable =P as per past experience.
