So first off, let me say this. I enjoy and expect one of two things when I do RP's. Either A) Well done action sequences that are part of a well constructed plot. B) Well done character interactions part of a well constructed plot. My last partner dropped cause what I had thought was going to be an action rp wasn't, and my partner decided not to pursue path B within the 1x1 we had started, so that fell through. So I just wanted to give everyone an idea of what I am expecting from my partner when coming into an rp with me. It's essential that the plot is well constructed. It must then have either good action to carry it, or good character interaction to carry it. As long as the plot is good and has either one of these elements, then that's cool. If it has both good action and good character interaction, thank you, cause that's a lot harder to find here than one would imagine.
Anyways, now that I got that out of the way, let me introduce myself. I'm Phantom Sekai, I would call myself somewhat of a "veteran" on the old guild, building posts well into the 6 digit marks, maybe even 7 digits if I include all non-RP related content (stuff that wasn't IC, OOC, or int checks). That said, I'd like to think that would make people feel more comfortable about getting into an rp with me since I'd say I'm at least experienced, but whatever, just wanted to let you guys know my perspective on this whole thing :)
Now that we have that out of the way, let me explain my rules.
1. Posting: This is advance, I expect advance level posting. grammar mistakes are fine as long as it's still understandable. I make mistakes often such as "teh" instead of "the" but that's not post breaking. I also go for quality over length. If I give you 7 paragraphs, but you make a 3 paragraph response, as long as the response makes sense then it's fine. You don't need to drag out every action just to match my length. I find that boring and annoying. Just try to make good posts. Also, post once every 2 days. If you can't, please try and shoot my a message that you'll be unavailable for a time. If you don't reply to me within 2 weeks, I'm just assuming you've dropped and moving on.
2. Don't be a dick: I want a partner that is willing to work with me. If we don't agree on how something should be handled, I want to work out a compromise, not argue over who's right or wrong. If you can't do that, I'm dropping you. Don't be afraid to pester me however if I drag my heels in responding, I sometimes forget to respond.
3. Be proactive: I intend for this RP to be a team effort, where we both put in a good amount of work to help craft a good plot, world, and characters.
4. limits: I don't have limits, but I do believe in moderation. I don't mind if you curse, but don't curse every other word. I don't mind a sex scene every now and then, but I refuse to rp out sex scenes every other post. I don't mind gore, but we don't need to describe how bodies explode or contort when hit by a car to the point where we know the internal status of someone's body and how fucked they are. Get it, everything is fine in moderation.
I think that's it for rules really. Posting is my biggest pet peeve cause you'd be surprise how many people will post one lined response in an 'advance" rp. makes me want to break things.
Anyways, now that all the Business stuff is settled, it's time for fun stuff. Now I want to explain my style of 1x1 RP'ing. I know most are used to the traditional "each person controls one major character that interact and deal with whatever the plot is" bullshit. See, I like having two defined roles, the "main character" and the "world." One person takes control of the world, basically they can control the plot and NPC's as they wish, throwing obstacles and situations at the main character. The basically reacts to these events, and then with their personal input can affect the world and everything within it. Think of it like mass effect, where one of us would play shepherd, and the other would be the setting itself, throwing aliens, monsters, and other such plot devices and twists at the character for them to react to. I find this style to be a very act and react type of thing, where even the smallest actions could have huge changes along the story and plot. Plus both roles feel adequate. One person is the center of attention and feels important, while the other has an almost god like role in having that main character be thrown into whatever situations they wish.
So, I promised some ideas within this RP, but I don't have many, here they are though.
Idea 1
- The other World: The theory of alternate realities has been a long standing idea that almost anyone that knows about fantasy and sci-fi should at least have some knowledge of. This RP would basically have our main character be thrown into a world, by a plot device of some sort, that is parallel to ours in many ways. the real difference is that instead of having technology that runs off of electricity and other forms of energy, this world uses magic. Everyone has a "unique" magic to them (think
fairy tail where everyone can use a different and very specific form of magic like "ice make" magic and such.) I don't have a plot other than the main character trying to get back home, but I think this one could be branched into a bunch of different ideas and could be fun. For this, I'll play either the world or main character, this is up to my partner.
Idea 2
-...
So I don't really have any ideas besides my first, but I do however have the ability to take concepts and ideas my partner might have and work with them to flesh out settings and plots to RP out. If you're interested, please send me a pm or post here saying you want to work with my idea, or want to work one out together, and with which role you'd like to play.
