Hello all, thanks for dropping by. I decided to go ahead and make myself an official thread, but it's going to be a bit sparse for now. Basically this is going to act as a quick reference guide for some ideas I'm interested in writing about, as well as to act as a stylistic introduction and let those interested in roleplaying with me have an idea of what to expect.
So, first and foremost, the about me part.
Actually, first, a disclaimer: If you are looking for a person of a specific gender to partner with, I am not that person.
I can understand why you might have that preference, and while I respect your right to put down those limitations, I have no truck with it. To me, saying 'You're A so you can't write B, C, D, E, et al' smacks of a lack of belief that your partner is capable of writing characters of different genders than themself, or worse, your writing intentions stray to the 'could pass for an adult film script' rather than the 'genuinely engaging story'. Again, this is not to trash anyone who does look for that; I'm simply trying to be clear here that if you're after that, you're in the wrong thread. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors just the same.
Phew. Sorry to have to be mean at the start, but, you know. I've seen this stuff much too often in other threads and I feel like a disclaimer is warranted.
Now, on to my basics, and what I like to see in a partner. Please do read this - I don't want to waste your time or mine if you skip this only to find out we're decidedly incompatible.
About
Me: 27-yr-old autistic agender person, works full time, lives in Central Timezone in North America, 16+ years of roleplay history, loves to brainstorm and hash things out. Please be aware that sometimes communication failures will occur; if I say something that seems off-topic, or is hurtful to you, please let me know. I communicate far better via text than in person, but text isn't infallible.
You: 16+, respectful, civil, willing to put in a sincere effort in an RP. Ideally a long-term roleplayer. Nothing else genuinely makes a difference to me; I'm happy to rp with nearly anyone.
Post Frequency & Size
Me: Posts 2-3 times a week, depending on mental health and outside forces. Writes at a high Casual-low Advanced level. Emphasis on descriptions, character development. Not the best with plot.
You: Posts at least once a week, 2-3 per week ideal, barring outside forces. Writes at least mid-Casual to mid-advanced. Doesn't mind the occasional dash of purple prose. Has sufficiently good grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and general grasp of English. Non-native speakers welcome.
Characters
Me: Plays as any gender character, comfortable with up to 3 mains and up to 5 secondaries plus peripheral/background characters. Writes platonic and romantic pairings/groupings of varying sexuality and genders when the story calls for it; has no truck with strictly cisgender heterosexual monogamous pairings unless it is the only available option.
You: Plays whatever gender characters you feel comfortable with, can control at least 1 main and 2 secondaries as needed. Willing to write non-societal-standard platonic and romantic pairings/groupings if the story calls for it.
Mature Content
Me: Comfortable with writing scenes of an adult nature, as well as exploring serious/deep topics. Some limitations for sake of mental health; PM for details. Generally willing to try anything if the interest is high enough. Writes romance and adult scenes when justified.
You: Expresses boundaries and limitations up front and clearly. Respects boundaries and limitations communicated to you. Writes whatever you feel comfortable with, within respects of your partner's own boundaries. Doesn't force a romance or adult scenes. Is also upfront about your age - if you are under 18 please let me know. This is not so I can 'spare' you from adult content, but simply a matter of my personal ethics.
Where & How
Me: Strongly prefers PM due to shyness. Can be convinced to do forum rp but does not prefer it. Open to OOC chatter/hashing via 2nd PM, OOC thread, Trillian, email.
You: Willing to rp via PMs; open to OOC chatter/hashing in at least one method as described above.
Radio Silence
Me: Checks in at least once every week; provide information on reason for delays if delays are occurring. Considers an RP abandoned after 3 weeks of complete silence, or 2 weeks with activity on the forum but radio silence in our threads/PMs. Will not abandon an RP without significant cause, and if at all possible after making a sincere effort to resolve the core issue.
You: Checks in at least once every week; provide information as much as possible as to why delays if delays are occurring. Does not abandon without at least providing notification if at all possible.
Most of all, I am, and I look for, someone who enjoys writing. Nothing in roleplay breaks my heart like getting deeply into a story, having crafted a world and characters and developed them with care and effort, and then to have my partner simply throw up their hands and say 'Forget this'. If you and I start a story, please want to finish it with me. If there's a problem, talk it out - be the kind of person who takes pride in their stories and puts in the time and effort to complete them, even through obstacles. If you start and quit rps at the drop of a hat, listen, that's fine, but that's not what I'm looking for. Yes, I know it's 'just a story' but let's be honest here, with the creative energy we put into these things, it's as much a labor of love as it is an escape from our own realities. Be the kind of person who understands and respects that, and we'll get along fine.
Also, bear in mind these are more of general guidelines. Even if you think you don't fit the bill exactly, let's at least talk about it.
If you've not been scared off by now, go ahead and peruse the next section to see if there's anything that piques your interest, or if it seems like I might be keen on an idea of yours!
(Updated: 8-11. Removed taken ideas, stale ideas, added clarification, added new ideas, updated keywords/pairings/fandoms list.]
Okay, so this was a concern more than once so let me quickly address this: an idea marked as 'fully fleshed out' does not mean 'I have already planned points A through Z and expect you to follow them rigorously'. It doesn't even mean 'I've planned out the general arc and beginning, center, and end parts'. It means 'I have already got a fairly good idea of what I'd like to happen and the beginning of this story is well-formed and ready for us to jump in with minimal discussion, however, because roleplay is a collaborative effort please understand that I don't have the whole plot written out in my head and very much encourage you and I to let the story happen as it will, because if I wanted to write alone I wouldn't be posting it on a roleplay forum and I want you to be my equal creative partner and not my understudy'.
Partially fleshed out ideas mean 'This is a cool concept but needs more discussion to get a basic plot hammered out, care to try it?'.
So again, 'fully fleshed out' = we don't need to do a ton of talk to get the party started but I'm not looking to be the GM and you the party members, and 'partially fleshed out' = this idea is cool if you're interested let's talk it out into a story to start.
Thanks for reading.

Fully fleshed out ideas:
In a medieval kingdom, a princess' most anticipated day is usually her wedding day. Particularly when she's to be wedded to her dearly beloved prince of a neighboring land, thus ensuring peace and prosperity for both. Everything is set to go off without a hitch, until a jealous unknown rival, wanting the prince themself, curses the princess with lycanthropy. Devastated and fearing for her life, she flees, a mere fortnight before the royal wedding is set to take place. Not wanting to risk the kingdom's alliances and of course, wanting her daughter returned, the ruling Queen puts out a plea: anyone who can find and return the princess safe and sound (and cured) in time for the wedding will receive a grant of fertile land, wealth enough for the rest of their lives, and the royal family's eternal gratitude. Naturally the competition is intense - the problem is, no one knows where the princess has gone, and how one gets a wolf-woman home without losing one's own life is a whole other challenge, too. With everyone from common sellswords to wizards, witches, and warlocks on the prowl for the bride-to-be, it's a race against time to find her and a spell to break the curse. Of course, nothing in the royal decree said the reward could only be for one person...
Partially fleshed out ideas:
***Sorry, this idea has already been taken!*** The life of a wandering priest is a simple and often straightforward one: go from town to town, banish demons where needed, bless newborns and buildings, accept charity where given, and generally do one's best to create as much good in the world as possible. Naturally, the only true enemies of any holy follower are the demonic creatures that, from time to time, make their way into this world to cause chaos and feed off the spirit-energy of the living. Their existence justifies yours - like night and day, two sides of the same coin, both need the other. But what does one do with a demon that seems more interested in following you than doing any sort of evil, and worse, seems unbothered by the usual charms, invocations, and blessed waters used to banish its kin? **** This idea is one I've bounced around with a few other players but never got any good response on. It's intended to be a mildly humorous and easy-to-write story, despite being open-ended. I do request for you to play the travelling priest/ess, but other characters are welcome to join in as the story progresses. It's also not fully fleshed out - why this particular individual, why this particular demon, what purpose is there in following them, at what point if any will the demon leave, so on and so forth. If this does intrigue you, let's try to work out a full concept.
***This plot has already been taken, sorry!*** Set in an early Renaissance-level world, where common life is interrupted at times by the presence of strange, beastly creatures of unknown origin. Some say they are cursed humans, some say they are cursed beasts. Either way, each have their own mark and dangers. The foxling, a creature of fire and blood, marks its home with a patch of ground dense with white-stemmed plants. When they flower, the whole ground turns red with their crimson petals - when they flower, the maker of the mark is on the prowl. It is a bad sign to encounter one at all, but to be a simple farmer, with a family of your own, and to stumble upon this ominous mark sewn into your fields, is a dire and awful find. When a foxling's field flowers, they walk among their human prey, seeking to enthrall and carry away one in particular, for purposes unknown and doubtlessly sinister. No one taken by a foxling - or any other beastling - has ever returned. But they are persistent and brilliant hunters, and rarely give up until they've ensnared the poor wretch they select. **** In this one, I'm happy to play either the creature or the human, so if there's one role you'd prefer that's fine. Also be aware this is intended to have mature themes and the strong potential for adult content, so please do not inquire about this idea unless you're 18+. This story draws from darker mythology surrounding faefolk, as well as the classic kitsune myths. There is a strong possibility that there will be no happy ending.
Keywords, Pairings, and Fandoms:
A short list of some general concepts and genres I enjoy, + symbols indicate level of interest. If it seems a little magic and fantasy-heavy, well it's from years of playing in a soft sci-fi futuristic roleplay. Just one, yes, seriously. I'm ready for some lower tech and more magic-based stuff. Of course, a sufficiently good idea and I'll try damn near anything.
Magic (high/low) +++ Fantasy (high/low) +++ Low-tech +++ Modern ++ Steampunk (esp. set in other countries) ++ Futuristic, alone in the universe + Futuristic, multiple spacefaring races ++ Sci fi (hard/soft) + Slice of life +++ College (setting or story) ++ Post-apocalypse (various, no zombies) ++ Mixes of two of the above +++++ Strangers stuck together +++ Subverting expectations +++++ Long journeys ++++ Betrayal (great or small) +++ Transmogrification +++ Self-exploration +++ Gentle giants +++ Iron fist in a velvet glove (either interpretation) +++ In media res ++++ Characters from vastly different backgrounds +++ Anthropomorphic creatures (humanoid, semi-humanoid, and quadruped sapient) ++ Ghosts (limited ability, no poltergeists) ++
These are just generalized pairings/groupings of types of characters. These come without a readied plot and are great for affixing to some other ideas to make a mulligan story if nothing else is readily available. Please note that these are not inherently romantic pairings; I don't write romance stories, I write stories where romance may happen but I don't like forcing it or expecting it. Pairings that are intended to be for adult roleplays will be marked with an %, pairings that are intended to be for strictly platonic roleplays will be marked with a ^. The number of + symbols indicate level of interest.
Fairy x Witch +++ Knight x Ruler ++ Exile x Priest/ess +++ Knight x Thief x Tradesman x Magician + (as a questing group) Witch x Human ++ Foxling x Farmer % ++ (see 'The Red Field Flowers') Demon x Priest ^ ++ (see 'Strange Companions')
My fandom selection is currently nil as I'm not active enough in any particular fandoms to justify listing them. As a general rule, I prefer original content, but basing a world or story in an established universe is fine so long as we're both familiar with the basics of said universe.
So, that's all I've got for now. Again, communication via PM is ideal - if you post here I'll try to get back to you shortly, but I respond to PMs most reliably.
***EDIT: At this time I've received significant interest and am going to have to request no further inquiries. As is, I am only looking for 1, at most 2, partners and am already discussing with several more than that.
Hello all. I've recently broken my years-long hiatus from the RP world and am looking for a 1x1 partner who is of similar level to myself and willing to be patient with me as I shake off the rust. If you're looking for a committed 1x1 partner who puts a great deal of importance on well-crafted characters and stories, read on.
I'm primarily interested in mid-to-long length story roleplays, with more focus on character and story building and (somewhat) less on world building. I am comfortable with most content, up to and including adult/mature themes and situations. Original worlds and fandom worlds are both acceptable, but I do request we stick to material to which I am at least somewhat familiar (and I extend the same respect to you). In regards to age or other restrictions, I do request to at least know your age as I cannot in good conscience write adult content with someone younger than 18. Otherwise I am not particularly concerned. Please peruse the qualifiers list before posting; I don't want to waste anyone's time nor have mine wasted. If you feel you match most of the qualifiers and believe you would enjoy writing with someone who has made such a list, please contact me via PM or by posting here.
A shortlist of qualifiers, with plus (+) indicating the item is required
