High Tier Powerhouse
Basic Information
=========
Superhero/villain Name: Emerald Knight
Civilian Name: Preston Westfield
Origin city/Planet: Earth
Hometown: Coast City, USA
Sex: Male
Race: Human
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 114
Age: 29 Birth Date: December 12, 1995
--------
Costumed Appearance: The Emerald Knight Himself
Civilian Appearance: Preston Westfield
Icon: The Lantern Corps symbol for hope, a thick circle with rectangles rectangles both above and below the circle. A stylized version exists on his uniform, while his ring holds a straighter version.
Costumed Personality: There exists little difference between how Emerald acts and how Preston acts. The Emerald Knight is the name of the unchained persona inside Preston. With the mask on, he feels like he's a completely different person with different responsibilities to Coast City and the earth as a whole. However, the biggest difference with the mask is that he's a little more "Hello citizen!" than he ever would be normally. As the Embodiment of willpower, he musters the drive to tackle any and all problems before him using whatever he can think of, and this bleeds heavily into his masked persona. If the man couldn't be stopped when he didn't have a magical power ring, think of what happened to his thought process after he got it.
Civilian Personality: A complex man with very complex tastes. Does he drink Dr. Pepper, or Coke? What movie should he watch for the fortieth time? Is he going to be the last person standing in a bar fight, or the second to last? These are the complex and important decisions that Preston makes every single day. Still a little bit of a child at heart, he refuses to step down from any challenge, including bleaching his hair and dying it blonde. He's determined to win, and win honorably. He sometimes lacks the foresight to see when a fight will land him in some serious trouble, or if its a bad idea to check out a meteor crash site, but it usually works out for the better.
Super abilities:
-Skills:
-Powers: Energy Construct Generation - The Power Ring grants Preston to conjure literally anything he can think of out of pure energy. The constructs are only as powerful as Preston is willful, but can still be broken by strong enough forces. This includes force fields, body doubles, and even generalized energy blasts. His constructs allow him to lift much more than any being could without assistance, though the lift would still strain his body. An underlying defect of the rings keeps Preston and other ring users from effecting anything that is yellow, to which he doesn't understand why.
Flight - Green Lanterns are able to fly up to Mach 10 in atmosphere zones, and possibly faster without anything holding them back.
Universal Translator - Being in an intergalactic peace keeping corps means that you have to be able to talk to any one and thing.
-Gadgets: Power Ring - The tool of the Green Lanterns, bore unto them by the ring itself, allows the Green Lanterns to do everything that they can do. Once a Green lantern dies, the ring chooses a nearby being who bears a strong amount of a certain emotion. In the Green Lantern's case, this emotion is Willpower. The ring is only as powerful as the user is, and their current mental state and amount of willpower are the driving factors as to how well the ring works. Each ring is powered by a battery, and must be charged once every full rotation of the current planet's axis, regardless of use.
Power Battery - The battery powers the power ring, giving it... power. It does little else, other than charge a ring. Power batteries are not interchangable. Blue Lanterns cannot use a Green Lantern Power Battery.
-Weapons: Imagination.
Civilian Occupation: Astronomer
Biography---------
Character History/Origin: Preston Westfield grew up in Coast City, looking up at the stars and wishing to one day hold one in his hands. His dreams were always above the clouds, in the mysterious void that was space. As a young boy, such interests were believed to be nerdy, before being nerdy was popular. As such, he was subjected to bullying. However, being bullied never made him timid. He stood tall during every confrontation, and waited for the first swing before doing anything himself. He never took any classes of any sort. He learned brawling during his schoolyard fights, protecting his love of space and those who shared his interests. As good of a fighter as he was, he was no athelete. He wanted to be a scientist who studied the stars.
As he grew older, Preston set his sights where his dreams were. His top-not knowledge landed him a full ride scholarship to the university of his choice, where he studied astronomy. His dreams were coming true, and after high school, he was hardly involved in fights. That didn't mean that he wasn't involved in them. He still protected the little guy, up until he left his university to go back home to Coast City. He had already been talking with the local labs of the city and had gotten himself a job as a paid intern, doing what he always wanted to do.
That was when it happened.
A sudden meteor shower had occurred over Coast City. There was nothing foretelling the event. Preston had been driving home after a long night at the bar, finding some more thugs to persuade into finding a happier life. He was still at the top, even if his body hurt. The shooting stars shone overhead, catching his attention, but they were much to large and much too bright. With a smile on his face, he knew he had to follow the direction the asteroids were moving. There had to be something that landed on the ground that he could show off to his coworkers.
It was then that he realized that it wasn't a meteor shower. They were moving too slow, more than enough for him to follow the trajectory to arrive at the crash site.
It was more than Preston could have ever hoped to find. It was an actual alien space ship! With an actual dying alien! Wait. Oh no.
The alien spoke vocally, but it was through thought that Preston could understand him. In his dying moments, the alien allowed his ring to be slipped off. Preston watched it float into the sky and dart around. He wanted to follow it, but it was much too fast. It was only seconds later that the ring returned, proclaiming Preston as the successor to the ring.
Preston disappeared for three weeks after that. The ring had sent him to the base of the green lanterns for training. It seemed like it was a public job. But one that offered no reward. Preston was all fine for a job that was paid in smiles, but he still needed to pay bills. He donned a mask and called himself the emerald knight, because green lantern sounded silly, and Preston could actually make himself a knight using the powers of his new ring. Only after succeeding in his training did he come home to be the protector of the stars. His stars.
And he couldn't be happier.
In the years following the mythical invasion, Preston made the decision to entrust the future of humanity in the Justice League. His plan of showing the world the stars had fallen apart. With monsters on the rise, they simply weren't ready for space. It was a hard move to make, but he had been reassured that the world would be safe, but just a little safer if he dropped in every once and a while.
So, Preston took to the stars himself, protecting his portion of the universe and eventually finding Sotra, a planet filled to the brim with techno-organic wonders, as well as political warfare. The planet was in a civil war, one that Preston couldn't look away from. A total of about two years had been spent fighting on Sotra, trying to find peace between the warring factions. In this time, in the midst of war, he found love with one of the natives of the planet, Catalea. After the fighting had finally settled and peace was on the way, Preston finally felt comfortable with leaving the planet. Rather than flight by ring, he was gifted a ship, and traveled with his new wife to show her the rest of the universe, starting with his home.

Biography---------
Character History/Origin: Virgil was born to Robert and Jean Hawkins, and was raised near the neighborhood of Paris Island, in Dakota City. Paris Island was known for being the poorest and most dangerous area in the city, and places like Virgil's block had some problems because of it. Growing up, Virgil always knew to stay away from the gangs and from that neighborhood, and he listened well. It wasn't until his Freshman year that rumors began to brew. A big showdown on Paris Island with nearly every gang in the city. The news moved around for months, and many of Virgil's friends decided they wanted in. Virgil was the last to join, and only due to the pressure of others that he knew.
The news wasn't well contained. News of the "Big Bang" spread far and wide, eventually reaching they Mayor's ears. SHe captitalized on the situation of such a large gang presence. She wanted to use an experimental tear gas, dubbed quantum juice, that could leave a tracking marker on all of the people it touched. When the Big Bang finally went down, the gas was used, and chaos proceeded.
The quantum juice had a disastrous effect on nearly all of the people involved in the Big Bang. more than 90% were killed due to the gas alone, and those that survived either mutated violently, or developed incredible abilities. Virgil survived, and was revealed to have become the latter option after Richard Foley, another friend from school, dragged him to an abandoned gas station near the scene. Static was nursed back to health over the course of the weekend, but his powers only began to show a week later.
He wasn't the only one to be affected by the gas in this manner. Many of the other survivors, dubbed Bang Babies, knew that this was the law's doing, and quickly relied on villainy to exact revenge for what had happened to them. Virgil would not accept that, and donned the name Static Shock to fight crime.
For two years Virgil fought the Bang Babies of Dakota City, as well as various other villains who rose to the escalating occasion. In this time, Richard had been exposed to Virgil long enough to adapt powers of his own, and became the hero known as Gear. With his powers, Richard was able to help Virgil even more, both on the streets and in the workshop. Static was better outfitted than ever before, and it was all thanks to his super-genius friend.
This high would only last so long, though. As Virgil became more adept with his powers, the more dangerous his foes became to combat such skill. Virgil was unable to keep his identity away from his family, who, were glad for Static for protecting the city, were more worried than ever for Virgil and his well being. Virgil almost had to hang up the goggles, but an agreement struck between him and his parents, and he was allowed to continue to fight crime.
One night, Virgil made the mistake of patrolling alone. As he combed through the streets, a Bang Baby by the name of Aftershock was prowling around near a gas station. Static had never faced another electricity based Bang Baby before, and was completely unaware that Aftershock's powers were the one source of electricity that could harm him.
The gas station exploded, and eight lives were lost that night. While nobody in the area knew that Static was present, Virgil took the loss hard. He stopped heroing for months, leaving Richard to suit up full time in Static's place. Eventually, Virgil decided that he wasn't worthy to protect Dakota City. Gear was doing a fine job with the few whom he had recruited. Virgil told his parents the truth about the gas station explosion, and offered him sympathy.
Virgil wanted to leave. He did. Without a word to Gear or even his family, Virgil took off for an unclear amount of time. He kept in touch with Richie after a bit, and eventually his family. To keep him in school, Richie was able to hack the school security and worked with the Hawkins family to make Virgil homeschooled as quickly as possible. For months he was out on his own, breathing fresh air and clearing his mind from the mess he was involved in. He heard about the school in Atlantis. A place for Metahumans and Homo Magi to grow and learn and figure out who they were meant to be. Virgil couldn't not look at such a place, and made some calls to a certain King and Watchdog.

Costumed Appearance:
Civilian Appearance:
Icon:
Costumed Personality: With her face hidden, Patricia lives without fear. Her Scarab ensures that she can get away with just about anything, an envelope she pushes further and further every single day. Sometimes she feels benevolent enough to use her powers to get free pizza, other times, she can make just about anything in the world free for her. This doesn't mean she lacks humanity. She tries not to kill the people she's harassing. Mortality is more important than the materials she's taking, but you can never make a good omelet without cracking a few skulls together first. Mistakes happen. Whether to call it a mistake, though, depends on the context of the situation and how it favors Pat.
Civilian Personality: A simple girl getting through a simple life. She loves those who she's close to, and would give the world to them if she could. Pat is a family girl who takes care of her own family, and not any family her father in involved in. Despite her animosity towards him, she can't deny how far his teachings took her. However, she's better than him. She still lives a somewhat honest life with a dayjob and everything, and doesn't murder people.
Super abilities:
-Skills:
-Powers:
Scarab Armor generation - The Scarab generates a suit of armor for Patricia to use, and the abilities of this suit are numerous, though not infinite. The armor can generate in sections, meaning that Pat can summon only a part of the suit if she doesn't need all of it.
Superhuman strength and Agility - Paired with Pat's natural strength and agility, the suit allows her to lift more than fifteen times of what any normal human can, and rival many animals in terms of on-foot speed.
Environmental protection - The suit can withstand high extremes for both heat and cold, including high speed atmospheric re-entry, and sub-zero temperatures.
Antagonist Adaptation - The armor can tailor its blasts for use against specific opponents (e.g., Kryptonite radiation against a Kryptonian, suppression blast against a mob). The blasts can penetrate a Green Lantern ring's shield. The armor can call up anti-magic effects against magical opponents. By the Scarab's own estimation, it can even develop countermeasures that can take on the Spectre.
-Gadgets: Sarhi-Ra, the Scarab - The powering tool behind all of Pat's superhuman abilities, Sarhi-Ra is an invention of an alien species known as the Reach. The scarab is a heralding tool that selects a host from a viable planet to ripen the specific area for maximum productivity when the Reach inevitably come to claim it. This Scarab, however, was defective, and gained artificial intelligence. It refused to be a part of intergalactic conquest, and though it doesn't always agree with Pat, the two are bound together, and the human has a much stronger will than that of the scarab. The two get along rather well, and Sarhi-Ra even assists Pat in stopping collateral damage when they conduct low or high level heists.
-Weapons: energy blasts, which can be shot from her fingers, or from a blaster created by the scarab.
Civilian Occupation: Personal Trainer at the Heidi Moneymaker Gym.
Biography---------

It united itself with Pat and was fused to her spine. Soon, it attempted to speak to her, telling her about the forces beyond the stars, and how she needed to defend the earth against them. Pat wasn't down for that life. With her steel will, she made the scarab bend to her, or so she thought. she refused the scarab and it's desires andShe fled again, northeast this time to Amnesty Bay, Maine. In the time that she had been living up there, she finally became a US citizen, and hid her crimes under under a nice looking carpet. But she was getting too big in her plans. Maybe she did need the power of the beetle to help her elevate her game...
Following the One Week war, Apex made an effort to keep herself a low priority in the eyes of the Justice League. Governed by spite, she operated in the shadows, building her string of spies and agents with the money she had stolen before the war. She needed to keep an eye on her son, careful to not wrap him up in the world of villany or heroing. The war had taken life and limb away from the whole world, and she would not allow the same to happen to her son. The Justive league and all available heroes should have done more. They should have been more widespread to keep the people alive.
Of course she did her part to help, using her Scarab to save as many people in her little town of Amnesty Bay before relocating once more to avoid detection. She needed somewhere new, somewhere far away. With the world still suffering from the abrupt arrival of might and magic, Patty and her son traveled west to Jump City, California, ready to take on the new coast.

Civilian Appearance:

Biography---------
Character History/Origin: Born to a life of organized crime in spain, Patricia was trained to be a tough fighter and breaker of wills. Her body was always pushed to its limits growing up, and her mind became as hardened as her body. She resented this life. She wanted to be a normal girl, but she knew that she would never experience that. The first chance she got, the hopped on a ship and left her family without a word. She'd be her own woman in America.
Living down south in Florida was easy for the first couple of years. She didn't make a mess of things, and she actually had her life together. It wasn't until she made a grave mistake in who she was talking to that she was forced to run west, finding herself in El Paso. There, she found an artifact, a stone scarab.

Civilian Appearance:
Costumed Personality:
Civilian Personality: Years of being at war has forced Catalea to be rather strict, especially serving as a high ranking officer for the Vespasian Military. Peace and freedom for all is always at the forefront of her mind, though Preston has made her realize that the worlds are never black and white. There are always more options to explore. She has a sense of curiosity and wonder to her that opened back up after the war was over, reveling in what new experiences are available to her across the stars. When the foes fire first, all bets are off, and Catalea is always ready to drop into commando mode. Sometimes her search for the extra option can work against her, buying the enemy more time to bring her down.
Super abilities: Anhanced strength, speed, and durability
-Skills: Surgeon-like precision, tactical mind, cold-weapon proficiency.
-Powers: minor electric discharges
-Gadgets: Cybernetic body - Due to the nature of her species, Catalea is a techno-organic organism that is more synthetic than cybernetic, and thus has a variety of enhancements that puts her at an advantage against purely organic foes. This also allows her to easily replace parts and upgrade herself.
-Weapons:The Broken Spear- An iconic tool of her people that she used to lead others into battle, the Broken Spear is a modular weapon that is just as versatile as she is, transforming on the spot as she needs, and can charge and use an electrical current for minor electrical shocks.
Civilian Occupation: Catalea worked as a high ranking officer of her planet's military before joining Preston to defend people wherever she's needed.
Biography---------
Character History/Origin: Catalea grew in Niu Vex, a Vespasian megacity and the largest augmentation plant on the planet. She grew up an only child, revering peace and justice above all. Her father was something akin to a policeman, but Cat wanted more. She joined the military in a difficult time as rebelious sects were growing, aimed at trying to disrupt the peace. As time marched forward, the sects united and grew in power, becoming a much larger threat than anyone could have anticipated.
She saw her world devolve into black and white, and between the two sides came the Emerald Knight, the new Green Lantern of their sector. The Vespasians had never been strangers to the Lantern Corps, and waited eagerly to see which side he would chose. While he did align himself with Catalea and the military, he made it clear that his intentions weren't completely with them. Winning the war was the best way to introduce new concepts to the planet without falling into anarchy like the rebels wanted. It had taken the greater part of three years, but in the end, the war had finally ended after more than two decades of conflict, and Catalea couldn't have been more thankful for Preston.
Despite her planet finally reaching peace again, Catalea wanted more. She wanted to see more, to do more. There were more people out there who needed help just like she did, and she decided to join Preston in matrimony and take to the stars to help those in need.
