Bio

Y'all can call me Bard.

I've been RPing for about 15 years now.

I'm also an aspiring novelist and an avid writer of short stories.

I believe hardship and bad karma (regardless of how much good one does) are necessary for character development, aptly explained by a well selling writer:
"Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see what they are made of." —Kurt Vonnegut

Also, my sheet (so I can provide a link rather than a hider)

Name: Marshall Knope
Age: 14
Godly Parent: Apollo
Years at Camp: 5

Ability: God-granted accuracy - meaning he could shoot a quarter out of the air from about ten meters away, rarely misses a shot in basketball, and all the like.
If he says a hymn to Apollo (it doesn’t have to be out loud) and touches the intended recipient of the prayer, he can heal them or remove ailments.
Skills: Quite a skilled poet, he has notebooks filled with poetry. He also has been working on becoming a better writer, with quite a few notebooks dedicated to short stories.
He is quite skilled at tending to wounds simply using modern medicine, as well as ambrosia/nectar.
Weapon of Choice: Bow and arrow

Appearance: Having not hit much of a growth spurt since he was eleven, he’s only 5’ even accompanied by a lanky frame. He looks like he would barely weigh 100 pounds wet while still maintaining the youthful roundness to his face. A mop of auburn hair sits atop his head, just long enough that it gets into his eyes; because of its wavy nature, it tends to give him the perpetual bedhead look even when he has brushed all the tangles from it. His eyes are almond shaped, and aquamarine in color. He has a nice smile - from what he has been told - and carries himself well despite his weak physique. Like most fair skinned people, he tans the more sun he gets - generally sporting a ‘farmer tan’ from a dislike for taking off his shirt even if he’s out in the sun all day - and his tan fades during the winter. He has a fondness for hats and has quite the collection. The leather bracelet and necklace - both braided with beads - stay on him 24/7.
He has a messenger bag, which he keeps on him at all times, that holds at least one composition notebook, some medical supplies, and some ambrosia squares and a flask of nectar.

Personality: Quiet by nature, he is shy. He blushes easily, especially when flustered which tends to make him stumble over words and fluster him even more. Being around his half-siblings doesn’t make him as flustered, but he still gets nervous talking to others. He prefers to read or just sit outside watching nature, and absolutely loves animals; he loves fantasy, mystery, and romance stories best, though his writing grew a bit darker ever since the Titan war. He gets extremely embarrassed when anyone finds/reads any of his notebooks in which he attempted to write stories.
Despite being uncomfortable actually talking to others, he does like being useful and help others (though he works best if he’s just pointed in a direction, given the instruction, and allowed to just work without having to talk.) The dislike to talk does help him be a good listener, though it’s best to just ambush him since he’ll feel too awkward to actually leave.

Brief History: The news of ovarian cancer had made Charlette Knope sad and depressed, until she met a man that brightened her outlook on life; one thing led to another, and in the same appointment where they were checking to see what option was best for treatment she learned that not only was the cancer gone, but she was pregnant. Nine months later, her little miracle was born. His mother homeschooled him, both a convenience because they lived on the outskirts of town and an overbearing protection to keep her special present all to herself. It created an isolated childhood, and gave him little exposure to other kids.

Tragedy struck when his mother drove off the road when a huge black dog appeared in the road before them. She told him to run and distracted the beast; despite his desire to stay and help his mother, he didn’t want to disobey his mother. After so long of running, he ended up coming across a strange boy that turned out to be a satyr; the satyr took him back to camp. After a few days, he learned his mother hadn’t died and got permission to go visit her in the hospital. It was then that she explained it was best he live at camp to make sure he always stayed safe. He writes to her weekly to stay in touch, and meets with her in a nearby city for his birthday and Christmas when he can. It wasn’t possible once the Titan War was in full swing, and since then he hasn’t wanted to see her as much - too scared that she might not approve of him anymore.
Hey, so the site just finally started letting me on.

I still have to read over some sheets, others are getting approved. Still waiting on a response from ArkLoH, sheets from others.

@ NarcissisticPotato - I guess we can open up to one more. Shouldn't hurt too much. (And I get that about the second series. Took me forever to be convinced to start reading it, and the only thing keeping me going to get to the end are the Leo, Jason, and Percy chapters.)
Just wanted to let you know quickly that I'll be at a New Years Eve party for most of the night, so I might not get to reading and approving/critiquing sheets until tomorrow.

@ArkLoH - just two quick things while I'm here.
1) How did he get the Stygian weapons? It's rare for gods not associated with the Underworld to even have them, let alone demi-gods.
2) Phobetor is a type of spirit, and is not an alternative form of Morpheus.

I just wanted to point that second thing out, and can discuss it more with you later. Sorry, time's short for me to be on.
Only if you don't mind spoilers. There won't be anything directly taken from the books, but this takes place at some point after that one. So the OOC already has some spoilers on it.
I suppose two more can't hurt...so long as you guys have read the series.

I'm waiting to see the sheet of the daughter of Poseidon before I determine exactly when our RP takes place in reference to the end of the Titan War.
Corsair, you need to read the books before you join. Kyla's history doesn't fit canon for a child of Ares, from how she came to camp and D&D being a thing campers would be into.

At this point, I've decided that only people who have read the series can participate. I don't want to hold someone's hand to help them keep a character accurate to canon or worse - and what I foresee happening because it's happened to me elsewhere - having to keep correcting people once the RP starts because things keep deviating from canon.
The OOC is up.

The people listed with spots are those that have expressed interest, but not noted they have not read the series. If you have expressed interest but have not read the series, I once again reiterate that it will contain spoiler references from the first series, and it is best you read the series before joining as it will help you understand a lot of what may/will happen as well as scenery.
Disclaimer: There will be spoilers from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series in this RP. If you have not read the series, do not participate.
--- The Titan War is done. Camp Half-Blood and Olympus are safe. More cabins are being added all the time for those of minor gods now recognized by the Olympians, reducing the overcrowding in the Hermes cabin by quite a bit. A new great prophecy has been given by the Oracle of Delphi within her new host, Rachel Dare:
Hard won courage spurs a group. From ruin and rubble, the pithos recoup. The Flame regain, but at a cost. To its home restore, or all is lost.
Though most of the campers are unaware of this prophecy. For them, it's just another summer at camp. Until the first issue arises. --- So, if people want, I have a series of minor plots that we can have the characters head out to deal with - as in other quests that will lead them up to the bigger quest. At the start, it will just be life at camp. Rules:
  • You must have read the series in order to participate. (For the most part, yes - I can tell from sheets if you haven't read the series.) This saves all of us the trouble of having things that go against canon come up in the RP.
  • All characters must be original characters. Canon characters are only to be used in the background.
  • This is for campers at Camp Half-Blood only.
  • I can't believe I'm saying this, but Greek gods only.
  • There can only be one (1) child per person of the Big Three. If there is a child of Hades, the son/daughter must have a reasoning behind being alive.
  • One character per person.
  • All abilities must be kept accurate to the series and are subject to approval if the god chosen has no demi-god children featured in canon.
  • No anime pictures as photo references.
  • This is casual, so all posts must be at least a paragraph (that's 5 sentences) long with your best attempt at spelling and grammar.

Approved Character List (Currently approved characters of people that haven't been online since the relaunch) Tyrant from the West = Del
Please note if you're interested in doing a quest. This will help how things are plotted in the future (i.e. how many quests I have run at once and/or if they're run via group convo or in the thread itself.)
No.
Okay, well, I'm out ans about right now, so don't mind the errors from my mobile.

Players/characters are unprodictable, but all quests get prophecies. the prophecies wouldn't be railroady though - if people are up for that.

So I'll work on the OOC when I get home, and hopefully get it up at somepoint tonight.
