In Is RPGuild dying? 10 yrs ago Forum: News
"Is RPG dying?" Well, I don't know. I don't really care if it is or not. I'm still enjoying it. Yeah, people are busy, but I'm still having fun roleplaying with what we have right now. It could be better, but I'm patient and I can wait for improvement whether it comes or not. Really though, it's a little stupid to have this debate over whether it's dying or not, since it's not something we can easily change on our own, and since opinions over whether it's dying or not are simply mere speculation. Even if numbers and experiences detail RPG's possible oncoming death or continuing growth, we don't actually know if it is dying or not.

People have lives. People do things in real life. People have free will. We move, we change forums, we work, we go to school. Things are going on in the real world right now, and some people are busy and have left us permanently or temporarily, and some people have left to other places. This is normal. These things happen often in online communities, and it's expected. We won't know if it's dying until it's dead.

Debating this topic so far has proven fruitless to solution, and the original poster is clearly baiting some argument and espousing some philosophy that Iwaku is somehow better than RPG and that RPG is dying. OP doesn't know if it's actually dying or not. People move. So what. Doesn't say anything. A lot of people from well-to-do countries migrate to the US. Their countries don't die. Whatever. Someone's probably gonna scrutinize this for whatever reason, but eh. I don't really care.

This discussion was dead to start. Saw this post about a few hours ago, not surprised some sort of debate was incited. This person came here with the intent of sparking some move to Iwaku. It's like leaving your hometown and then returning and saying "wow does anybody give a fuck about this place anymore lol i mean honestly." Don't feed this person or fuel the fire. Carry on with business as usual and care less about this guy and his thread.'

TL;DR: I don't care, nobody cares. Ignore this thread and let it die because this whole ordeal is leading nowhere and revealing nothing people aren't already aware of or can't figure out on their own.
The brown-haired teen had arrived a fair thirty minutes before the assembly, and he sat on the left section, close to the front, of the auditorium. Daren isolated himself from the interactions and exchanges of others in the auditorium; he instead pondered and drowned in his own thoughts in lieu of conversation. In the wake of the briefing, Heiligwald paid an untypically and uncharacteristically low amount of attention to any discussion about the actions that the Coalition planned next, so little informed he was. With that, the announcement, that the leadership of the Yeshuite Coalition was to make in the coming hour, would be completely new information for Daren, given his random bout of ignorance. While he patiently waited for the briefing to proceed, his brown eyes combed over the crowd.
Protagonist said One more thing: Christians were all raptured in the cataclysm, and the religion was rediscovered later by our characters. You may wish to adjust your character's history to that (IE, his parents were raptured when he wasn't christian, and he became christian after).

Everything's been fixed.
Personally, I was a little undecided on the occupation since I didn't have much in the way of details to pick from. If I had some idea of exactly what the YC is and what positions or occupations exist at this point in time, I could more decidedly put something down.

I already planned on changing skills since I had afterthoughts matching what you just said.

Edit (11/26/14 01:20 CST): Changed skills, awaiting more information on occupations.
I'm in. :>

Name: Daren Heiligwald
Age: 17
Quote: "I won't reduce myself to hatred. I love all, and I have hope."
Theme:
Appearance: Daren is of average height, roughly 5'10", and of average weight, around 165 pounds. He has soft, medium-length brown hair layered with shorter cut hair on the sides, and he has big, dark brown eyes that look like amber in the light. When he doesn't shave, his facial hair covers pretty much the entire bottom half of his face, like a regular beard.
Religion: Christianity, practiced in a way similar to the old rite of Catholicism before the Cataclysm, many of its core beliefs and practices maintained by a religious family for generations in the dark. Sometimes verges on gnosticism.
Occupation: None, at the moment, but aligned and active with the YC. Volunteers often, especially with first aid and as a medic, and takes up writing and art as his main hobbies.
Weapons/Equipment: Unarmed.
Skills: Good at strategy/tactics, persuasion, critical thinking, and problem solving. High analytical and cognitive ability. Halfway decent at predicting future events from current knowledge. Fights personal bias and sees bias and propaganda/corruption easily.
Implants: Icthus Implant.
Backstory: Heiligwald's father came from German and English descent, and Heiligwald's mother came from oriental descent. Being devout Catholics, they died in the Rapture in Daren's earlier years, around age 12, and left him utterly alone. Their deaths pushed him to renounce Christianity as his faith and become atheist. 5 years passed, and Daren received visions from beyond. He was warned of Delmore, and his suspicions once held down in the back of his mind developed into a understanding of Delmore's depravity. He was told of the transcendent destiny in the future of mankind, and he decided that he would work within the YC to destroy the GWC and subdue the threat of Delmore. These visions forced him into the role as a chosen hero, and he became devout, reviving many forgotten practices.
Really, though, what about the character age limit?
Brink_ said Sure thing.

Thanks!

How many more people do we need before the thread opens?
I propose we include a novice or intermediate level roleplay forum to hold what we currently label "High Casual." In my opinion, a novice section could fill the gap between advanced and casual where people don't want to commit to the restrictions, rules, and standards of the advanced board and where people seek middle-ground to improve upon their skills with other people of similar capabilities. On the downside, a new novice section could initially be empty, inactive, and excessive. Thoughts?
May I have a spot? I like this, gives me some nostalgia for the Legend of Zelda.
I'm interested. :>
