Amanda Smith

Basics

Name: Amanda Smith
Nickname/title: A. Smith; "The Journalist"

Build/physicality: Not particularly muscular though still solid-looking. She couldn't last long in a fistfight, but she could probably get away from the fistfight with incredible speed.
Appearance: Linked due to size.

Background

Psychological status: A touch of general anxiety, largely untreated.
Quirks, ticks, conditions, sensitivities to the paranormal: She tends to fidget - mostly plays with her lighter if she is not in a higher-class setting.
Magical potential: Yes, albeit low; don't expect her to be hurling fireballs.
Personality: Considering some attitudes to a female reporter, Amanda's learned how to move quietly and keep things hidden, physically and emotionally, from those she speaks to in order to avoid trouble. She can come across as unusually emotionless as a result to those meeting her for the first time. To her, anything interesting is worth following up on for a news story, even if she can't always explain how it happened, and she will follow it to the end of the earth if necessary.

Biographical writeup: Amanda Smith was born 1893 in Baltimore, MD, to a pair of lower-class parents. When her mother died of tuberculosis, she was expected to seek employment at the age of 10 - however, this was around the time pressure was put on factories that hired children, and she was turned down. The best she could do to help her father was beg on the street. During her time, though, she saw quite a few things that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. She had a knack for writing and was able to sell a few articles to local papers under the name 'A. Smith'. When she was old enough, she was hired by one of her publishers to work as a full-time journalist. She was able to begin relaxing then, reading and beginning to study writing and past news articles in an attempt to improve her own work. She's also taught herself how to operate a camera and has been trying to learn Chinese due to the number of Chinese workers in her city. At 25, she received a better offer and moved away from her hometown to Boston. However, the offer didn't quite pan out as well as she hoped, and she had used considerable funds to get to Boston. She's been working her way home since, in a way. Her most recent stop is in Arkham while following a potential bootlegger piece.

ETA: So extra thoughts (and one reason I wanted to do this early).
1) "Quirks, ticks, conditions, sensitivities to the paranormal:" - do you mean physical conditions (e.g. asthma)? What would sensitivities to the paranormal entail?
2) What counts as combative, aside from guns? Pocketknives? Explosives?
3) How much is allowed for noncombative inventory? Are items at home supposed to be included?

@Conquer All Typically, "squishy" characters are characters with little in the means of physical attributes. They may have magic out the wazoo, but a solid hit will knock them out of a fight.

Thanks for the consideration. To clarify - while I have been in large group rps before, my last such rp was about 4 months ago, and I know slow posting can kill a rp. I'm mostly concerned about taking too long to post and in such event would suggest I be skipped/dropped, if I do join.

"Oh, that sounds really cool!" Sonia positively beamed. "Hey, maybe Keramon and I can help! I'm on vacation - school's out for a while so we've been exploring or I guess I have while Keramon knows most of this stuff, but I mean after lunch we don't have anything really planned and Keramon knows everyone here!"

"Well, not the foreignerz." Keramon laughed, an odd hollow sounds that didn't faze Sonia in the slightest. "I waz hoping to to take you to the Village of Beginningz, however."

"Well, she said she's just investigating the festival, we can go afterwards!" Sonia nodded. "We can hammer it out during lunch." She seemed to be taking it as a given that their help would be accepted and why not? Six eyes were better than two.

"That we can." Keramon's general irritation seemed to have faded with the promise of Sonia's attention and the confirmation of no future splitting, and her benevolence felt much more genuine. "Flawizardmon livez thiz way, if you would?" She floated forth, cutting a path through the other digimon.

"C'mon, Foxsumon!" And Sonia was right behind her.
