decided to write a sample of B using her power, because you guys haven't seen it in action. I'm not just making a random explanation for a generic speedster, it's just the best term I could think of at the time. I'm trying to be creative, by imposing limits that challenge me to use my character in unique ways. This writing prompt may come tomorrow. I've already spent more than 6 hours today on this website. This phone is so inefficient.

Edited my writing samples for tense. I have my IC post ready to get B most of the way to Kell. Waiting for more talk about my character's power to post anything.

edit: I also leaned away from the quick dash when stopped for B. If she's caught when not in motion, she's at a severe disadvantage.

Poitr backed away, allowing the doctor to help Ella, picking his phone up from the ground. He hung up on the operator. His mind was conflicted. His whole life, he grew up learning that shapeshifters were evil. How could Ella be evil? The only ones evil here were the ones who hurt the child, leaving her for dead.

More medical workers arrived, bringing a rolling stretcher with them. Carefully, they moved Ella onto the stretcher. Poitr walks with the stretcher, planning to ride with them.

Behind the ambulances a police car showed up. It didn't bear the local police insignia though. Instead, a single stripe, thicker at the top and bottom, was painted on both sides, the hood, and trunk of the vehicle. The two men who exited were wearing suits. Why is the church police here?

One was carrying a notepad. He waved Poitr over. "So you found the girl?" "Yea." The other man was about to ask Poitr a question too when Poitr interrupted: "Can you question me on the way to the hospital?" The two men discussed amongst themselves for a few seconds before the men agree. One stays behind to investigate the scene, since the local cops will be there momentarilly. Poitr rides in the passenger seat. They are behind the ambulance for only a moment. Poitr sees the doctors frantically working before the ambulance speeds away.

I'm in the process of rewriting the void gate opening. Need to read up on the lore of that more. The main thing I'm trying to tell with that is that she was injured pretty badly. I'm incorporating some reflections on her injurious and state of mind into what I have prepared for a first post.

With this character I started with the power and went from there. I didn't even start with her bring a speedster.

What if B's and Blake's kages have history together? I would have to talk with Yugeto since it's his character.

Maybe, on viewing Blake's power in action, B's kage can tell her that Dama (Blake's kage) is quite evil? This can give B some hesitancy to join up with the group. If the situation is right, this could lead to an interesting conversation between B and Arianna too at some point.

edit: Is Dama from Dune? I could name B's kage Odrade instead.

Beatrice "B" Magin
Beatrice stepped to the side and began stretching the moment she left the aircraft. Though not eligible until age 16, at age 14 the Arcanian gymnastic team had invited her to train with them before the bi-annual worlds held in Sovereign. The team would have paid for a shuttle, but for this opportunity her parents didn't mind splurging to cut the travel time. B was used to traveling throughout Arcurus for gymnastic competitions, but she never got used to being confined for so long.

B observed the other passengers exiting the aircraft. Most were dressed in business attire. She noticed a girl, slightly older than her, wearing an Arcanian gymnastic team shirt. They had talked briefly before boarding the aircraft. The girl didn't notice B, and she continued towards the aircraft terminal without stretching. She has zero chance of placing. This girl, who should have been peaking in her training for nationals, hadn't so much as stretched once in the last 9 hours. Sizing up the girl, B was familiar with the type. This girl had been enrolled in gymnastics from an extremely early age. She was talented and comfortable with the sport, but lacked the drive to train, the drive to dedicate every fiber of her being to be the best. No wonder the Arcanian team always finishes last. Beatrice looked to change that.

Appearance

Pre-Sovereign: Brown hair, blue eyes, short (5'1" 110lbs), extremely fit.

Post-Sovereign: B shaved her head after an encounter where a man grabbed her hair, it is now a little over an inch in length. She has a few scars, the most notable extending from just above her right eyebrow to her left temple.

Name: Beatrice "B" Magin
Age: 15 (14 at time of initial Sovereign quarantine)

Birthplace: small town outside of Argos (is there one I should use?)
Current home: Same small town. Visiting Sovereign for training at time of explosion.

Personality: Competitive, driven, hardworking. On track to be on national gymnastic team. Can be very judgmental. Survivalist, Avoids conflict.
Bio: (tl;dr: She's a competitive gymnast with a cushy past. She develops as a character throughout her survival in Sovereign.) Her mother from Valira and her father from Arcurus, they joked that Beatrice's competitive nature meant she had been switched at birth with a Warshiran.
They raised their child outside of the city of Argos. Her father, Roy, teaches at the engineering branch of the College of Argos, where he does biomedical research involving prosthetic limbs and lungs. He works closely with core researchers. During the semester, he spends much of his time at a small apartment rather than commuting. While at home, Roy pushed his daughter to succeed academically.
Her mother, Lauren, was previously a miner. After she found out she understood cores better than her boss, she switched careers, and went back to school for core research. There she met Roy while he was studying abroad. Now she teaches at the local high school, planning to continue her research once B graduates. While a stickler for Beatrice getting her school work done, Lauren pushed Beatrice to find what she enjoyed, and B discovered her love for competitive sports. At age 9, Beatrice was set on dancing for a living. She planned on attending a renowned high school for dancing in the city of Argos. Classical dancing,
which almost all dancing competitions in Arcurus are, turned out to be too rigid and not challenging enough. She turned to gymnastics at age 11, Where she quickly caught up to - and due to hard work, surpassed - those who had trained from younger ages. Her quick advancement led to some animosity from the other child athletes, and she spent too much time training to spend much time out of school with her classmates. Her closest friend was her coach, Rachel.
At age 13 she was noticed by the provincial coach for Arcurus. At age 14 she was sent to train with the provincial team, who was training in Sovereign a few weeks before Nationals was held there.

Special attributes/gear: Extremely athletic. No notable gear.

Kage Type: Kamikage
Kage Name: Ballizein
Kage Primary Power: Manipulation of kinetic energy in a short range (5 feet) around him. This manifests itself in a slight telekinesis, but more-so ballistics. She cannot create kinetic energy, but can transfer it from multiple objects - including herself - into a single object to send it flying.
Kage secondary power: Rooting. Range: contact. Se can "root" an object (or portion of an object) in another dimension. This causes the object to maintain its momentum. The spirit cost of this is directly proportional to the energy change that would have occurred to the object. It can turn an object into a shield at the cost of constantly draining spirit, but every hit and push threatens to "unroot" the object. Note: Not even she can manipulate the kinetic energy of a "rooted" object.

Beatrice primary power: Kinetic energy manipulation (range: self). This manifests in B to make her a speedster. She can change the direction of her own momentum 180° in the blink of an eye, as long as she is in contact with something. She can twist like a cat in the air, but cannot change her trajectory. Can also be used to increase the efficiency of her movements.
Beatrice secondary power: Momentary rooting. Whenever B changes directions quickly, she can root both a small portion of whatever body part is in contact with the ground and the ground itself. This stops self-harm when changing direction rapidly, maintains traction, and allows her to move on some fragile surfaces without breaking them.

Hey all, interested in joining. I've been talking with Sage. He has my cs and writing samples, waiting for his approval to post it here.

My CS and writing samples are definitely on the short side. This is because I currently have to post everything from this old Android phone. It's mostly the researching that takes forever: loading and switching between pages takes forever. I am definitely capable of making longer posts, and I can put the time in to make my posts IC long enough, but I can't put in the time to make my cs detailed enough until I fix my laptop. I spent hours a day for the last 4 days making them.

Poitr is stunned. Adrenaline had helped to hold off his emotions from the day and but this news seems to unleash them all, and more. All he can do is hold his hands to his head; that is, until he sees the girl is holding something out to him. He inspects it, and finds a medallion with a figure on it. He is not quite sure what it is, but he recognizes it as a symbol of the heretics.

Poitr isn't given much time to think. The first set of sirens is approaching fast, about to turn the corner.

Feeling sick to his stomach, he does something he might regret. He takes off his own necklace and places it around Ella's neck. He then takes the necklace from her hand and rips the ribbon that it was made out of.

"This pendant is yours. You ripped this necklace off of one of your attackers. You were attacked by shapesifters."
