Dear sir/madam,

Allow me to congratulate you on being selected as the new phantasm representative for the Phantasma Festival! ^_^
If this seems confusing to you, rest assured, an exposition fairy will fill you in on the details sometime later~ <3
Along with several other lucky candidates, you'll get to play around with magical powers that normal humans have long since erased
from their consciousness. Which was kind of silly, if you ask me. How do you guys live without magic? This email thingy is pretty weird,
I probably should've stuck with sending the messenger bunny? XD

But, anyway, magic powers! Expo Fairy can tell you about the magic you're harbouring, as well,
so I'll skip ahead to the fun bit! Our festival holds a tournament where aspiring little mages brawl in epic fights,
for the chance to win a wish granted by yours truly! Awesome, right? :O There should be a document attached that lists a few
terms and conditions, wish limits, blah blah blah, can't wait to see you guys~!

The Setting

So yeah, a magical girl RP (boys included too, because why not?), with a shocking, genre-twisting... twist. Namely, that the magical girls' powers will be based on mythological creatures. Whether it's an obscure monster like the wulver, or a world-renowned creature like the phoenix, all are eligible to be represented in the Phantasma Festival! Do note a few key things regarding which creatures to use, though:

  • Gods/angels/devils and the like are off limits, sorry to say. Although, if you want to play a creature that's technically divine, but not an outright deity, I'll probably allow it, just run it by me.
  • Half-breed/combination-type deals aren't valid either. No half man, half bear, half pig magical girl for you!
  • Playing as a dragon isn't going to mean you're automatically stronger than, say, that grass-fairy magical girl over there.
  • For creatures that have several different interpretations and lore, they're all valid. Additionally, there's no hard limit to how many people can use one specific creature as a base, but... diversity is recommended.
  • Finally, more as a general tip, you don't have to adapt every ability a creature has, at least not at the start. Everybody's a newbie, after all.

Obviously, everyone has access to stuff like flight, or generic magic blasts or shields, too, but you don't have to be exactly proficient at all of them.

The Plot

One day, you've received a weird email, one that most people would dismiss and delete (and be honest, you probably did), and move on with their lives. However, a few days later, you find yourself dreaming. In this dream, amongst a small gathering, a tiny, humanoid figure begins a thorough, seemingly never-ending lecture on things like magic, and this 'Phantasm Festival' thing. Whether or not you came out from it any more knowledgeable about the strange email's contents, one thing is now clear: You are now a magical girl fighting in some tournament.

For some reason, the exposition fairy really wanted to stress that the wish you'll win is perfectly safe with no strings attached.

Post your characters in the OOC. Accepted ones can be posted in the character tab.

  • Name:
  • Age: 10-15
  • Gender:
  • Appearance: Words and pictures are both fine. Note that this pertains to your normal appearance.
  • Personality: You can keep this brief, if you want.
  • General Info: For all your backstory or trivia needs on the character.

  • Mythical Creature:
  • Powers: For example, someone channelling a werewolf may have increased power at night, or even summon wolf familiars.
  • MG Appearance: Pretty much where you can describe/show off your characters magical outfit. You can even add some cat-ears to your nekomata costume, too!

-----------------------------

So, any questions?
Glad to see some interest.

Reserving angel.

I should note though, stuff like angels and demons weren't what I was aiming for in this.

So for some reason, you got a strange email that you were compelled to read, despite the... strangeness of it (what kind of email is 'myearsarefluffierthanyourearsibetyourejealousrightofcourseyouareeveryoneisjealousteeheeheeimonlykidding@magic.com', anyway?). Whether or not you dismissed or believed its contents, a short while later, you find yourself speaking with an actual fairy, who informs you that you have become a magical girl. Or a magical boy. And is now demanding that you train for some upcoming tournament. It's a weird week for you, probably.

But yeah, this a magical girl RP, in which the mages' powers and costumes take after mythological creatures, monsters, just about anything from ghosts to dragons. Obviously, no one's going to have an inherent power advantage based on their chosen creature.

I'd like the tone for the RP to be light-hearted and fairly comedic. Nothing too dark and depressing, just a place to have some fun. Although more serious arcs could come up later, for now, let's just get used to changing into frilly clothes instantaneously.

So, any interest?
No idea what to do with Beatrix at the moment, so might as well let that scene continue a bit.
Hitomi always had to leave for school early.

Why, she had no idea, but her parents insisted on this all the time, even when their current place of residence was barely a ten minute walk away from the Building of Education. Heading out a full hour early was just pure evil! It wasn't like Hitomi had forgotten to brush her teeth, brush and tie her hair, or even forget to eat! Her schoolbag was hanging from her shoulder as it always did, homework belonging to a couple of others in class that had begged her to help them out (something about too many chores preventing them from completing an assignment, and Hitomi was only too happy to assist), and...

Oh, wait, she'd forgotten her scarf! And woollen gloves. The cold air was biting at her unprotected skin, and the shivering girl was quick to succumb to the frosty temperature and rush back home, setting her satchel aside once she'd stepped through the door, the twin-tailed blonde climbed the stairs and entered her small, but cozy room.
In her haste to locate anti-weapon equipment, the organised little space was quickly transformed into the remains of a clothing store that had gotten into a fistfight with a minefield, and took a couple of hard hits in the process. But at least she found her favourite pair of white gloves!

And so, stumbling over the small piles of clothes litterig her bedroom floor, the adequately-protected high-schooler was now once more walking to school. She still had plenty of time after all. After an uneventful six minutes, however...
"...Aw, darn," she mumbled, coming to a stop. Her satchel was missing. She'd sat the thing down, right? With a light knock to her forehead with a knuckle, Hitomi once more hurried back home with a light jog.

Satchel once more procured, Hitomi headed for school once more. Still about half an hour to go, more or less, so no point in rushing there! Despite the setbacks (which were a lot more common than even Hitomi seemed to notice), she wore a content smile on her face. Even if she wasn't exactly someone that was part of a large social group, she felt as if her whole class was like a large gathering of friends, so school wasn't a terrible place to be for most of your week. And come to think of it, she was sure that a few of her classmates had mentioned something about a transfer student? It was a bit of an odd time to transfer, Hitomi hoped that whoever this new student was, they wouldn't feel left out or anything...

Having finally reached the school gates, an ominous feeling overtook Hitomi. There was... something not right, right? Something was missing... but what? She'd gathered everything...
Hesitantly, she opened her bag and looked at the contents. Yep, the homework for her classmates was still there... school supplies...
And then Hitomi realised it: her own homework was still sitting at the dining room table from the previous evening. Hell, she'd even looked at it this morning! How did she forget that?!

"Uwaaaah..." the normally-cheerful girl couldn't help but moan pitifully, turning heel and downright sprinting back home this time. What a lot of good leaving early turned out to be.
Yep, should be fun.
Clearly, their overpowered abilities should be used for incredibly mundane tasks. Everyone dismisses what they see as CG.
{Appearance} - "G'day, guys!"

{Name} - Yamada Hitomi
{Age} - 15
{School Year} - 1st

{Six Traits}
Friendly, well-intentioned and cheerful. Conversely, she's quite clumsy, dim-witted and gullible.

{Brief Background}
Due to her parents' work, Hitomi has had to move all around Japan throughout her school days, rarely living in one place longer than two years. This has led to some difficulty in keeping long-term friends, and only has a few contacts that haven't simply petered away completely. Despite this, however, Hitomi tries hard to be a good friend to people, and tries to endear herself to others.
Since the start of the school year, Hitomi has managed to become known as that one clumsy, silly girl that'll do just about anything you ask with a smile, which hasn't exactly always attracted the best people, but... at least she always means well?
