But despite all these criticisms, I have no issue with two characters in a roleplay forming a natural-looking relationship. No problem at all.

I played in a 1x1 RP where the two characters were childhood friends who hadn't seen each other in a long time, and quite literally bumped into each other as teenagers, and things went from there. So, not "love at first sight" in the normal sense, but still a "natural" progression, I would think. And certainly one way for a Romance to bud. Or... heh... explode into flowers and rainbows.

If you do a non-bio, on the other hand, you have the freedom to create things as you go along, but it's easy to lose track of what you have mentioned, therefore making consistency more difficult. What do you think?

I think for some people, it's true, while others have the ability to maintain consistency because they maintain the character's "bio" in their head. At least that's the way it is with me. Though I have no problem with a written-out CS, either.
Very clear indeed...

I only play characters of my own creation, never those made by others, since... well, they're not mine to play. But some people like to play "Cannons," while others prefer "Original Characters" (OC's). Whether they play those OC's in Fandom or in Original RPs, it really doesn't matter. Personally, I've use my original characters in Fandom RP and in original story universes, interchangeably. Sometimes, but not always, altering things about the character to fit the specific story.

Heh. I've had characters inspired by RP's I've read, but most often, a character simply pops into my head and I just go from there. As for animal characters, I only play non-humans/non-humanoids, mainly aliens and fantasy critters and the like. So, really, when it comes to creativity, the limits are only based on your imagination. And preferences. Which is what makes RPing fun.

ISo how long have you guys been on RPG?

Since before the Old Guild went down... lost some very good stories. Been RPing since I became a comp-user, back in 2000-2001.
Nothing wrong with being worried... unless that's all you do. Right? ...Grins...
See, I told you to be patient. Works every time... usually. Heh....

So he's not a rapists? Why exactly did you feel the need to state this part? o.O

Sorry, could have worded that better. As in, if the lady says no to his interest, he'll accept it and move on, though he is perfectly able to form a non-romantic friendship with the opposite sex. In other words, he's not the "pushy" type. That's what I meant. And I mentioned it because it was a point of character development. Aaand this topic has its focus on the romantic elements of roleplay.
But in that case, I've noticed people specifically mention that they want a partner who can create and use other characters for that specific purpose, while the whole "doubling" thing seems to have a more specific function. A limited application, if you will. Plus, "double" is just another word for two. Not for "I want you to be able to play more than one character."

Though I was involved in a 1x1 on another site (before I moved and lost my home internet) where the lady and I started with two, then started another two, while throwing in various background/NPC characters. So in a way, we evolved our RP into a doubling, going from two to four "main" characters. Heh. When I left, however, we were on our way to throwing in a few more "main" characters. Heading for a rather large "cast" we could throw together once we reached a point in the storyline where we intended to have a serious "situation" develop (the story was taking place on a "cruise" starship).

So yes, filling roles is not also necessary for story flexibility, but it's also quite fun. Can lead to very interesting turns. Even in a "romance" RP.

Well, yeah, if your bolding the text to indicate that their speech is different than normal that's different. xD
