I'm a 15 years old from the Netherlands. My main interests are video games, music, books, and series. I roleplayed here a few years ago, but I decided to return.
My roleplay interests are prisons, gangs, low fantasy, science-fiction and history (aka vikings). I have nothing with anime and I really dislike werewolves and vampires, so I tend to stay away from those.
I'm currently watching Oz (about prison life, HBO's first series) and I'm currently reading the Icelandic Sagas. I listen to metal, rock and hardrock, though I'm open for anything. My favorite bands are Amon Amarth, Alice In Chains and Allegaeon. As far as games go, I like strategy games. Paradox' Crusader Kings II is on the top of my list, followed by TaleWorld's Mount and Blade series.
I´ve been inspired by the HBO series called Oz and the video game called Prison Architect to create a prison role play. The role play will portray a realistic prison, it´s inmates, the Correctional Officers (guards) and the staff.
Here is a basic idea of what I'd like to see.
Characters Since I want this to be a realistic prison, I'd rather not have over the top characters. Creepy serial killers are okay, as long as they are realistic to an extent. That means no Jokers. I encourage gang members and/or prisoners of a certain racial group.
Gangs Gangs will play an important role in our prison. They run the drug, tobacco and alcohol trade in the prison. Gangs can make plays inside the prison to show their dominance over a certain part of the prison, for example a yard or a common room. These groups extort other prisoners in exchange for money or other goods.
Jobs There are several jobs around the prison to which the prisoners will be assigned to. Examples: the mail room, the kitchen, the workshop, the laundry etc. These jobs can be important, as they can be used to smuggle contraband inside the prison. Inmates can buy goods from the prison shop with the money they earn from the jobs. The inmates also use money to pay each other for contraband and certain deeds.
Staff If you don't want to play as an inmate, you can also play as someone from the staff. You can play as a guard, as the psychologist, as the priest, as the warden and anything else you can think of.
Character Development A thing I personally want to pay attention to is character development. If your character was a complete wuss before going into prison, try to make him more tougher and dangerous as the role play evolves. This is, of course, an example of how you could do it.
Experimental Units Some things I want to include in this role play are experimental cell blocks. In these cell blocks, prisoners will be dealt with differently to create a different outcome in their behaviour and re-offend rate.
Goal Now what is the goal of this role play? The ultimate goal for everyone, inmates and guards, is survival. The inmates do their best to not die until they are released. The guards may suffer from financial problems and they might decide to go corrupt. The goal could also differ from person to person. One inmate might want to rise to the top of the foodchain, while others are planning their great escape from the facility.
For those who want it, here I got a temporary character sheet:
