The robed woman swept aside some of the long cloth, turning and giving the girl some time to think. Obviously she was utterly perplexed by the whole situation. Her single eye blinked, not sure if her words would help the young girl. Thrusting the truth into people wasn't going to make matters any less confusing anyway. She thought of releasing a sigh, but kept her lips tight. Her shoulders didn't slouch but she was weary of the constant reminder of how the peace around them was only a temporary thing, and while she'd rather spend it alone, it would've been a nice time to sit down and conduct her studies.
"We are the protectors of humanity... the ones who guide the dead to another life." the woman said, her face still faced away. There was a moment of silence, the voice suddenly growing very stern as she spoke up again.
"But we are not angels. In fact we're more like reapers, using our powers to kill many more Souls than we can ever hope to guide..."
She seemed to be searching for the next proper sentence, but the sound of voices echoing down the side caused her to turn, immediately scowling at the sight of Corwin's "stupid' smile. Her eye glanced between the blonde man and the individual they had found earlier in the Divide. Despite her gesture towards Corwin, she made an attempt to smile at their Jessie, albeit with a modified frown that was very dragged at the sides.
Her single purple eye locked onto the young man, her body standing a few inches taller than him, "Are you doing fine? I'm sure Corwin here has explained things to you."
The eye abruptly shot to Corwin, who quickly turned his head up and away from her gaze.
The robes swung as she turned around, "We would have to move soon, and judging by the time, Mark is running late yet again." She shook her head, "He's probably off drawing a picture or talking to some spirit again..."
