"Lesson number one in real world socialism. Don't be a hero if it doesn't benefit you."
Name: Eawyn Stanier
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Nationality: Raelin
Heritage: Raelinian
Personality: “In this world its every Man for themselves. Only rarely are you blessed with kindness. Sorry but I’m looking out for number one.”
Eawyn Stanier is a realist, while she does favor the negative side of things, she doesn’t throw away the positive opportunities that come with it. If the situation calls for it she can help both sides with little to no effort, she’s just looking for the most efficient way to end a problem and during her travels helping out folk (while also bartering for payment upon completion of the quest), she would often end it with her winning.
From this phrase, it can also be derived that she’s not one to let an opportunity pass her by. Should there be multiple chances she will weigh in her options and choose the most rewarding regardless of the risk that comes with it. She can be very two-faced when she wants to.
“I’m not one to let bygones be bygones. Once you piss me off, it’s a fight to the death.”
The Stanier Noblesse is not one to forgive so easily. Maybe you spilled the stuff she had been hauling, that’s okay. You accidentally hit her in a crowded area, that’s fine too. But the moment a person is bothering her on a constant basis when she rejects their idea or when one is after her or her companions’ lives. She won’t rest until she weeds them out completely.
Because of this rather hostile attitude, combat with her is more barbaric to that of Warriors and even less of a Red Mage. Every so often, the weapons she has amassed in her inventory would often break just to stun or create a fatal wound. Her spells, although not on the magnitude of a Black Mage, are still quite dangerous. Being a Red Mage, she can switch between magic combat and melee combat mid-battle and even combine the two by imbuing melee weapons with elemental properties.
The fact that she’s a bad-mouthed, dirty lipped young lady in the prime of her youth could make even a wandering traveler think she’s just a commoner’s vagabond.
“You wanna be friends? With me? Are you sure? …n-no… just curious. Besides I’m not the type you should befriend. It's for your own good unless you're the kind of person who likes to go on wild rides.”
If one has bonded close enough with Eawyn, they would find her to be a little shy regarding social activities such as making friends. She sees everyone as tools that needs to be taken care of, not so much as friends made for talking. In fact, her whole life hadn’t revolved around the aspect of genuine friendship when her noble bloodline was part of the major influences of the Empire. When it dissolved, her parents’ teaching stuck with her and it’ll take a lot of effort to get her to open up.
Biography:
Childhood
Eawyn Stanier was raised by the magic-oriented Stanier Line, one of the noble houses known in the schools associated with the Spectrum Mages. The entire family up to its first ancestor, Heliodoris Stanier. They were talented in the ways of the arcane that most of their family had ended up becoming part of the Spectrum Mages serving directly under Arius himself long before the Empire had stood proud as a show of strength. They were passionate imperialists. The whole family despised democracy in secret so as to not gain any unwanted attention.
Her mother was a talented Spellblade and her Father, a Black Mage. They had pampered Eawyn in her early childhood as well as helped her spark her interest in magic unlike most who would often just shove their ideals onto their children whether or not they like it. Of course, while all things seemed innocent and wholesome at the end of the day, they were still Nobles, regularly caught in the game of cloak and dagger intrigues for favor. It was a thing in the Empire and it was a thing now… except this time commoners are involved.
Her only tutors were her parents, it was enough. They believed their own flesh and blood are enough to train her into a well-bred prodigy, Prodigy yes… but a master of one school? No. She aims to master all the schools of magic someday. That was her dream.
Spectrum Mages: Schools and Education
Her parents had no trouble presenting Eawyn to the academy of sorcerers in Raelin. Accepting her immediately because of what her family represents. True to the name, she outclassed the novices in her own section house and is one of the top magi that are above the average set of students enrolled in the school. Eventually, she graduated and was offered several contracts to join the orders under the approval of the Spectrum Magi.
Holding pride to her heart… she declined, a mischievous smug. This wouldn’t be the first for her… it never will.
Supposedly she was to marry and select handpicked suitors who have promising potential in casting the elements. Although this is mainly to incorporate them into their family which comprised of mixed bloods even from the Imperial era. Eawyn however, would often reject these “suitors” challenging them to a wizard battle in their own courtyard and should they beat her, she would agree.
So far, that hasn’t happened. She still aims to master all the schools of magic in her own way to forge her own legend. To make her family rise above the other Raelin Houses.
Ifrit’s Inferno: The Dragon’s Breath
Taking official quests from Guilds, Taverns, and Hunting Lodges. Eawyn regularly joined adventuring parties that challenge mission ranks one level higher than their average. They once came across a cave where a Bandersnatch was causing trouble for a Raelin village up north. Being in a cave was a disadvantage given their setup and Eawyn gave an idea to lure it out of its hiding spot by repeatedly attacking it with her learned spells.
The Bandersnatch, enraged. Roared and broke through the cave with its enormous size and upon closer inspection looked a whole lot less of a Bandersnatch and more of a dragon-like creature with its behavior. It had a dragon-like head, ruby gems embedded on its crown and its tusks are non-existent. Wing-like frills would every so often spread out as an attempt to intimidate them and it was used to create a low flight for it. The battle was tough but they were able to get through it with some of the party members tired and injured. When it disappeared, one of its gems were left behind. A big, fire red, ruby was left on the ground for her to pick up. She didn’t know what it was but whatever it is, it gave her body a surprising jolt and no sooner than later she was able to cast fire spells much more effectively.
With a shrug, she would keep it as a nice-looking accessory. Having yet wonder what this amulet could really do. Eawyn allowed her party members to go ahead while she investigated the narrow-looking cave ahead.
As it turns out, it was a ruined shrine of Ifrit… red crystals like hers grew around there. Upon approaching, the crystals that once surrounded the shrine had their colors faded, a red-orange light coming out from the pointed tips and into the gem that she got as loot from the “Bandersnatch”. Surprised at what it did, she deemed this item an Eikon and was happy enough to keep it for herself.
She would soon come to know what it truly is.
