Serene was stopped by the ship's captin. "Alright, hang on. The ship's got a captain's log so we'll just see if it has any answers." It seemed so natural to Serene as he type out stuff on a board of keys. Which gave Serene more confidences. The star chart that was on the screen disappeared and then appeared a series of journal entries. She glanced over them as Jared said "Come on, old man. Don't let me down now." and scrolled through the entries, "This one looks promising." he said before clicking one of the selections, allowing the entry to be viewed on screen by everyone in the room.
Jared began to say. That it was a pre-mission log, detailing the purpose of the ship and the assignment it was being used for. Like the old man said, it was an exploratory vessel, meant for the purpose of finding uncharted worlds and establishing contact with them. Along with the mission summary, the log explained some of the dangers the crew would likely face, namely the Heartless. Heartless, as the log explained, were creatures from some kind of parallel realm referred to as the "Other Side", that often emerged into this realm and fed on the darkness in people's hearts, preying on them and turning them into Heartless themselves. This knowledge was credited to a report written by someone called Ansem, who had apparently conducted thorough research on Heartless and the "Other Side" over a thousand years ago, even learning how to create his own "synthetic" Heartless marked by a Heart-shaped emblem they bore on their body somewhere. Just like that armored thing. So this Ansem guy created it? Weird. The entry went on to explain that all things, even the worlds themselves, had "hearts", and these hearts were like a doorway to the Other Side where Heartless came from. The heart of a world, as written in the report, is symbolized by a Keyhole hidden somewhere within it, one that only a weapon called a Keyblade could seal, effectively locking out the Heartless and preventing them from consuming the worlds. Keyblade...? Isn't what Dion called that thing I obtained?
"Well, I guess that answers some of our questions..." said Jared, closing the entry and reopening the star chart, "...but we have a slight problem. Quark is probably our best chance at rearming this ship. Problem is, it's a bit far way, and the ship's shields and engines are likely to run out of power before we get there. But don't worry, these things run on special energy cells that automatically recharge over time when the ship isn't in use. So if we just make a couple of pit stops along the way we can keep them good and charged. Here," he showed them the route to Quark, pointing out that a handful of other worlds were on the route toward it, "see these other dots? These are other worlds that we'll have to pass by on the way, so we should be safe to use them as pit stops to recharge the ship. Looks like we'll be arriving at the first one momentarily. It hasn't been charted yet, so we won't know what world it is until we actually arrive. Kind of exciting when you think about it, like opening a birthday present or something, you know?"
Exciting Serene did not know about she still wanted to know the biggest question that was in her mind. Where was Moon In-Sun? What had those Heartless done to them. Would she ever get to see him again? The thought she was thinking she keep to herself. She had learned quickly that it did not help blurting them out. Everything was so uncertain to her. The only the that she knew was that she was going to Quark. She could not remember every hearing of it. So it would be an adventure. Deep down she a worry but was excited. Something Moon In-Sun had said to her before she left was that what ever happened she would learn who she truely was and that excitement the other where feeling startd to fill her body. A tear ran down her face as she though of him. She quickly wiped it away hoping the others did not see it. She did not want them to think she was weak. Even thought this was the weakest she had ever felt.
