Bio

Okay, let's see; I started roleplaying by post way back when that meant writing a turn down by hand, sticking it in an envelope and sending it to a GM through the plain mail, not email. Games I remember with fondness are Saturnalia, Amaranth, Absolute Heroes....

I'm a wannabe writer and love inventing and developing characters and worldbuilding. Fantasy, horror (supernatural) and superhero are probably my favourite genres. I'm not adverse to a bit of cyberpunk or space opera, but hard sci-fi with lots of technobabble leaves me cold.

I can be found lurking on the Nano site or YouTube when I'm not spending time exclusively in the real world and have the same username everywhere, so if you see a Shaitarn on another site feel free to wave.

Name: Viktor

Universe: Underworld films

Appearance:

Personality: Cold, cunning and utterly ruthless. Viktor is capable of projecting an impression of charm and friendliness (in a high-handed superior sort of way), but he is equally capable of betraying or sacrificing anyone if he feels it necessary. He believes vampires are superior and their purity must be maintained. He deals with threats coldly and efficiently; basically, get in his way and he’ll kill you.

Powers/Skills: Endurance - Viktor is capable of taking a considerable amount of damage without even slowing down.
Strength – Viktor is strong enough to pick up a charging lycan in one hand, break its neck and fling the body at a wall hard enough to crack it (the wall, not the body).
Agility – being a vampire, he’s capable of lots of agile jumping up walls stuff.
Speed - can move faster than you'd expect - a hell of a lot faster.
Healing - He can recover from injuries much faster than a human.
Weapons expert – he’s been using a sword and knives for centuries, so he’s an expert with them.
Limited invulnerability – to kill him you need sunlight, decapitation or the destruction of the heart or brain.
Blood Memory sorting - he can read some of another person's memories by drinking their blood.

Brief Bio: Viktor was a Hungarian warlord born sometime in the 5th century; when he was nearing death he was turned by a powerful vampire and became one of the most powerful vampire elders. Fighting a running battle with the lycans (werewolves), he spared the life of the first shapeshifting lycan, Lucian, and brought him up as a slave in his own castle. He regretted that when his own daughter became pregnant with Lucian’s child and was executed by the order of the vampire council. His private grief at her death and eventual revolt of the lycan slaves has led to him starting a war of genocide against the lycans (I’m imagining this being between the end of the third film and the start of the first).

Equipment: Wearing a black shirt and trousers and a long red leather coat that is tough enough to count as light armour. Carrying his preferred weapons of two daggers and silver-plated longsword.

Others: I'm happy to add some weaknesses if you want.

Cool; thanks!
Very interested. Now I just have to choose who to use... I take it we're limited to one character each?
Like virtually everyone else who's English, I also have ancestors from Wales and Scotland. Born and bred in South London, but I'm moving to Yorkshire later this year.
Random Dragonlance reference! I've sent you a PM.@Squishy623
Interested!
Great; anyone else?
Jin's enthusiasm for schemes had made her smile and now his enthusiasm made her laugh out loud; not a restrained lady's laugh but a genuine ringing laugh of delight at his words. While she was less likely to be swept away by enthusiasm than he was, she couldn't deny that there was something delightful about his eagerness - so different from the 'we must not upset anyone' mentality of her parents that had driven her to distraction while she was growing up!

His image of the lord begging them to stop playing tricks was something else that made her smile, and sent her brain spinning with ideas of her own to match his. Making the arrogant and self-important look foolish was always fun, particularly if it was because of something they did themselves. "We should make him parade around in front of his retainers thinking he is adorned like the Emperor himself when in fact he is wearing nothing at all." She said gleefully, her mind full of images of displays of robes that looked like clothing fit for royalty, embroidered with dragons and phoenixes when in fact they were anything but.

She suppressed her smile and let her face settle into grave lines, straightening up and standing ramrod-straight; a few simple changes, but suddenly her face suggested she was a lady of fine rank. "So, Jin-sama, shall we go and inform the lord that he has noble visitors?" She asked, her voice changed to the ringing tomes of an imperious lady used to getting her way. She produced a fan from inside the folds of her kimono and fanned herself, keeping her face still although her eyes danced with amusement.

“Any Threat. Any location. Protecting humanity no matter how far it takes us.”

I thought maybe we could have a RP based on the first (and best!) of the secret groups that protect Earth from hostile alien threats – the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce (or UNified Intelligence Taskforce, if you insist). I haven’t really got an idea for a plot at present, but I’m assuming most characters would be soldiers or personnel that would at least have enough training to head into potentially dangerous situations.

There’s more to UNIT than just soldiers, though – we’d need scientists, medics, computer nerds, press spokesmen and at least one person tying it all together, whether that be Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart or his daughter Kate Stewart (although I must confess I’d love to get back to the days of UNIT hiding the existence of aliens rather than the “aliens do exist” attitude of the new Who).

A few more points:

I’m not adverse to the odd alien or two being in UNIT, but the vast majority should be human, and the aliens will probably be regarded with deep suspicion/borderline racism and have to prove themselves to their human colleagues, particularly if they’re clearly non-human in appearance. That said, I’m not going to permit any Gallifrayians/Time Lords (certainly not the Doctor or the Master – I don’t care whether or not they have a TARDIS; the answer is no) and I’d also be reluctant to have any extremely powerful alien PCs (particularly daleks/cybermen); I’m happy for people to suggest their own alien ideas – just nothing uber-powerful, and if you do, please wait for approval.

I’d rather not have any crossover with Torchwood; and yes, your character can have basic physic abilities/ training if you want, so long as it’s minor stuff (mental shielding, telepathy, empathy, that sort of thing).
I’d prefer original characters to characters from Who, but I’m not going to stop anyone playing a character from the original series if they really want.

If someone wants to apply for the position of the leader of UNIT, go ahead, although I’d rather they were kept pretty much ‘off-screen’ and we concentrate on the adventures our characters are involved in.

Would anyone be interested?
I'd really love to find a RP for Grashna, my half-orc who's a sheriff in an originally pretty lawless border frontier town in a fantasy-style Old West that's been over-run with undead. I don't suppose anyone's interested in running a fantasy/western/horror crossover RP...?
