Yep! You would be the fifth.
There will be a screening process for anyone applying, of course. But as long as you're good at descriptive writing I doubt it will be an issue. Also everyone (myself included) will need to be able to keep up with the RP regularly. Not every day, but fairly often. But I'll explain that more later.

@Jig Glad to hear that the 'canon cut-off' works. Also, your last paragraph gave me a delightfully sinister idea that I might use. Not quite as gruesome as Saw, but something in a similar vein.

After mulling it over I've decided to cap the number of players at 5 maximum. So if everyone who's shown interest so far is willing to join then we'll have room for one more. Once the thread goes up I'll notify all of you, and I'll save you all a spot in the roster. Though if someone doesn't claim their spot after a few days I'll have to give it to someone else.

I would ask that everyone bear in mind that this will be the first time I've attempted something like this. I don't really have the means to do a test run with people I'm familiar with. But I'm willing to put as much time and effort as necessary to to make it work as best I can.

I'd be interested in doing a test run, but truthfully I have almost no real RP friends. At least not on this site. At the moment it looks like the first attempt will be the test run. The best I can really do considering is just make it clear that this is my first go at it and that everyone needs to bear that in mind if they choose to participate.

I'm happy to see that people are taking interest. Right now I'm planning to take a few days to do further research, run through the trial ideas on paper to make sure they hold up in practicum, and generally just iron things out. If at least 4 people are willing to participate then I think I should start preparing for the main thread. Right now I'm looking at creating the thread on Sunday the 19th. If that inconveniences any of you, please let me know and I'll accommodate you as best I can.

@Silver Carrot Honestly I haven't done anything in the Advanced section before either. The main reason I put the thread here is because most of the RP will be character-driven. Things like world-building and a dynamic plot are secondary concerns.

I may not have explained it very well in the OP, but the plan is having lesser trials that don't end in death lead up to bigger ones that do. And it may not always be clear whether a given trial is 'lesser' or not. How characters perform and behave during lesser trials would have an effect on how later trials are done, one way or another.

I had been looking at some social and ethical experiments to get a better idea on how to structure trials, but I hadn't heard of Ultimatum before. I will take a gander at your suggestions.
