A friend of mine once told me that 'it's only ego if you can't back it up'. Too many people like to confuse confidence for arrogance -- there's a big difference.

Not to get all psychological, but some people are actually just 'wired' to take things people say literally. I'm like that to an extent, but I've learned that people here are usually just shitposting.

Happy Anniversary, Ailyn. Six years ago, you gave me a kindred soul, and brought light into a life which for all intents and purposes had been mostly nothing but darkness.

Valentine's Day's bittersweet when you've endured a long-distance relationship for over five years. Here's to celebrating the strength of a meaningful bond, instead of taking a shallow and easy path.

This bio will get reconstructed once I've left the site for good. I'll be collecting my data in the background for now, and sorting some loose ends. I'll be on and off to do it, so don't think I'm back if you see me around. Once I've dealt with everything, I'll log out properly and remove my 'ghost' status, and that'll be the last this site sees of me. This community is in serious need of growing up, and I'm not the least bit surprised that role-plays die here so frequently.

The 'Grim Reaper's Gambit' role-play is likely to reboot elsewhere eventually. The role-play will have some modifications, so contact me if you're curious since the original project won't accurately explain everything. There's no determined date for it to happen yet, since I've got other priorities and I'm not investing a lot of time in it until enough of the people interested have free time to properly commit (lack of dedication on the part of some players practically destroyed the previous version; it's very apparent it would've died even if I hadn't decided to leave). There's a group that're quite interested, but most of them are busy.

Anyway, come back later for an update later -- or don't; it's your life.

Tell me who you are or I possibly won't accept the request, since I assume most requests are bots.
Yes, people who I rarely/never spoke to - or who never met me - while I was still here are welcome.
No, those who disrespected me (and aren't sorry) while I was here or are trolls/immature in general aren't welcome.
Also, keep in mind that not all of these are currently being used actively, so friend request replies might be delayed on some of them.

(I'm fairly easy to contact through here, though I'm not really gaming much due to my main project's workload.)

Discord: Shoryu Magami#4323
(Unlike Skype, I primarily text chat on this instead of voice chat. It's currently one of the easiest ways to find me. It causes my PC a lot of problems though.)

Skype: solitaryangel1983
(Usually running on my phone, mostly so I can talk to my fiancΓ©, so it's easy to find me here. I've currently got no access to it on PC. It might take a while to see requests.)

Facebook: James Koutsoukis - Shoryu Magami
(Barely ever on this, but it exists. Mostly exists so @Ailyn Evensen can list me as her fiancΓ©. You'll find me easily on messenger if you add me, but I don't do much else.)

Yahoo IM: shoryu_magami
(Does this even still exist anymore? It used to be my main method of text chat, but it's not on my current PC.)

I'm thinking that Mateus would've empowered Marche already, since he's planning on sending the Hell Dragoon there with him to wipe out the Burmecia party. He'd empower Marche immediately if the boy responded positively to the previous flashback post I made.

What I'm thinking with Mateus/Chaos is that Mateus would openly propose using his magic to mess with Cosmos' summoning (in order to gain favour with Chaos, boosting his confidence in the outcome of the war and also making Mateus look good on his eyes -- I've been fully intending to Mateus to seem like a chancellor/strategist to Chaos until he betrays everyone), but will point out that doing so will weaken him, which explains why he's sending out subordinates instead of attacking directly.

I could actually picture Mateus openly revealing to the other Warriors of Chaos that he knows where all the Warriors of Cosmos are (this will make him more impressive to them again, while not really indicating his true level of power). So I'm thinking the whole group of villains would be aware of the positions of the other heroes. This means Exdeath would definitely move to eliminate Galuf, if we go with this.

Really, I think the mess with Cosmos speaking to everyone can be solved easily enough, but I'll need to know Gohan's intentions. At the very least, he should avoid making Jegran attack in his next post. Whether or not Cosmos speaks to all groups in the next post is dependant on whether she spoke to them all at the same time.

Which group Jegran attacks could change things, since it's entirely possible he could go after Layle. Zidane being made aware of Terra/Ritz due to Mateus could result in him going there simply because he 'thinks with his dick'. Whether or not Mateus sends Zidane some support depends largely on what Kefka and Jegran are planning.
@Raddum

I'll let you respond to my edits, then answer everything. Edit them into your last post for ease of reading, I think.
@Gohan@Raddum

I thought Raddum might have wanted Marche to respond to Mateus' words, but I don't think it's a big deal since he can technically reflect on it once he appears in Burmecia.

Mateus isn't actively going to any of the locations, and I'll leave it up to Raddum if Mateus and Chaos actually talked about Mateus 'messing' with Cosmos' summoning, though I think it makes more sense than Chaos being confused as to why the summoning got messed up.

As for Exdeath (who I still feel like I should've called 'Exodus', since 'Exdeath' was very likely a bad translation), I don't immediately have a plan for him, but I'm inclined to say he'll likely attack the Mist Cave group the moment he becomes aware that Galuf is there, which might already be the case.

When you post Jegran, just keep in mind that, from a 'timeline' perspective, the Burmecia group are a bit ahead of the other teams, while the World of Balance group are behind the rest. This could also impact when Cosmos speaks to them, unless she doesn't speak to everyone 'at the same time', in which case chronologically she speaks to the Burmecia party first, then the Mist Cave party, and finally the World of Balance party.

I'll decide whether or not some of the other Hell Knights are active once I see everyone's situation. I've still got no idea what Zidane or Kefka are up to, but I suspect Kefka isn't going active yet, which means him and Mateus might have a chance to chat. Also, Marche is welcome to request for more Hell Knights besides just the Dragoon, but he might feel too timid right now to make requests -- only Raddum can confirm.

Do keep in mind that Mateus is sending forces to Burmecia almost immediately, so Cosmos will have to act very quickly if she wants to talk to them before the assault.
@GarlandDaHero

That 1x1 going alright?
@Pudding

Cheers for that. I really haven't played it in person in over a decade, so I forget. I've always used the 'can't take back vote' rule online.

@carla6677

You're now reserved, alongside @Kalleth if they want the spot.
@Foster

Yeah, honestly, I find that part of good sportsmanship is to make sure your posts aren't vague in terms of what your character is doing, which is why being able to write battle role-plays involves a good attention to detail. Obviously, if you've got a gambit going then you don't explain this in your post, but generally making it as clear as possible what you actions are is a good idea.

Perhaps it's just the chess player in me, but I've always got pre-planned responses in my head as replies (if I've got time, I can write them up, but I'm usually multitasking), depending on how the opponent responds to whatever I've put up; in fact, I've often got certain responses planned out several posts in advance, catering to a few different possible outcomes. Of course, the opponent could do something unexpected, but I'm usually able to factor most things in.

With that said though, I don't really find that I have this problem people talk about regarding battles 'taking too long' to reach a conclusion. It might just be due to the fact that I prioritize supernatural battles, but I find that they end pretty quickly if I actually want them to. A fist fight could go on for ages if it turns into a slugfest, and the same applies to a sword fight if people have armour. A fight with guns could end almost instantly, but I don't usually partake in those. Most of my battles are supernatural, and I've found that I can end them pretty quickly, because I usually build my characters aren't not so much around 'raw power' so much as having adaptive abilities that allow me to set up gambits that will pretty much guarantee a one-hit kill.

With regards to the other comment that you made, which followed up on what @ArenaSnow said, I think it's pretty much just common sense in all forms of role-play to not overwhelm the other side with too many actions or lines of dialogue, since the other side needs to react in order to make it all flow realistically.
am I allowed to change my vote if i want to, or is it locked in?
Mae

Generally speaking, once you officially point the finger you're done. That's how it's explained in the rules in the opening post. I'm only guessing the game usually operates under those rules, but if it doesn't then someone should let me know and I'll change it from the next game onward.

Verdict:

@carla6677 - 4 Votes (eliminated by majority vote)
@Briza - 2 Votes

@Luna_Maria has been eliminated by the murderer.

Those remaining in the game are @NekoMizu, @Blueflame, @Mae, @Pudding, and @Briza.

Let's do this.

β™« Naoki Urasawa's Monster OST - Close Your Eyes

A figure stood in the centre of a chamber, drinking from a glass. As he did, he was staring at a gorgeously crafted portrait of a beautiful young woman who had long and wavy light golden blonde hair, deep silver-tinted blue eyes, and healthily pale skin. She was clearly Caucasian, and was wearing a long white dress. The setting of the portrait was a shore, gazing out into the ocean. The wind seemed to be blowing against her blonde curls. The man simply stood in silence, calmly looking at the painting.

Things were about to move forward. Would it be the end, or perhaps a new beginning?

"I thought I might find you here..." another man spoke, "Am I interrupting...?"

"No, it's fine Albert..." the initial man replied calmly, "By all means, join me."

The second man entered the room and walked over to the first, the two now looking at the portrait. The first man poured his companion a drink, filling a second glass with wine from a large bottle on the table next to him, not really being the type to drink more than a single glass anyway -- that was assuming he drank at all.

"Is this... alright...?" the second man questioned, as if suggesting that it was not his place, but the initial figure simply smiled with a melancholy look on his face, holding out his hand as if to say 'think nothing of it, it's fine'. The second man said nothing further, feeling nothing but the utmost honour.

"Five hours from now... it all begins..." the first man spoke, causing the second to slowly nod his head, "Do you have any reservations...?" the first questioned, apparently genuine.

"No..." the second man replied earnestly, "I will follow you in whichever path you choose."

"Then let us walk this purgatory until the bitter end..." the first man spoke with a poetic tone.

β™« Baccano! OST - Manhattan Bridge ni Kakeru Yume

`I guess she didn't understand what I meant...` Sven thought as the woman - who introduced herself as 'Sonya' - explained that it was social conventions that concerned her.

Sven had used the words 'widely accepted' in order to emphasize that most - not all, obviously - people in France accepted public breastfeeding, but apparently that part of what he said went over her head. It was possible that she simply did not hear him clearly though -- she seemed kind of on edge; in fact, she seemed really on edge. It was not that Sven could inherently read her mind or anything, but a combination of how cautious she was being around him together with her apparent intentions not to use the escort made it clear to him that this young woman had a difficult time trusting people -- there was no other reason he could think of for why she would insist on walking to the estate, especially alone when she was already basically lost. Though, in all fairness, Sven had no plans to use the escort either, but he planned to get a taxi.

While he gave no particular visual indication of it, Sven did make a mental note about how cautious Sonya was clearly acting. With the way she looked almost like a beggar - together with what he could vaguely make out as bruises, alongside her seemingly timid aura - it might have been safe to assume that she was afraid of being attacked. Certainly, she had made enough of a point about not wanting to anger people over her breastfeeding, and Sven got the impression this had more to do with simply wanting to be polite. Generally speaking, people did not seem this fearful if all they wanted to do was show decent manners.

Regarding Dmitri's nickname, it had been something of a coincidence that he knew about it. While information was something of a specialty of Sven's, he was not exactly dedicated to research into Russian culture or anything, so it had merely been something he picked up as a bit of side info to something else he was looking into, and thanks to his memory he had retained it. An amusing little coincidence, which was presumably all it could be.

Before Sven could say anything, intending to comment on the whole 'breastfeeding is widely accepted' misunderstanding, Dmitri hurt himself and then Sonya lost grip of her belongings. As she was getting everything together and trying to calm down the baby, her son pulled on her hair and the woman seemed to become more distressed than previously. Sven did not give it much of a reaction, and just maintained his friendly atmosphere as Sonya apologized to him. For the most part, the expression on the Eurasian man's face indicated that she had nothing to say sorry for, since it was perfectly understandable. Turning around, he put the envelope back in his bag, but pulled out his laptop afterwards, turning it on. A few moments after the machine activated, Sven input a password to access the main screen.

"It's fine, and you don't need to worry about breastfeeding here." Sven pointed out as the laptop was still starting up, "Sure, some people likely have an issue, but the majority of people in this country accept it; I mean, it's only natural, right?"

Thinking for just a few moments, Sven was in his own world for a couple of seconds. He shook his head as he looked at the laptop, and then continued speaking.

"If you can't read French, will you be alright walking there...?" Sven asked calmly.
@Blueflame

Alright then. I mean, there's nothing stopping people from waiting until the deadline gets close - especially since, like I said, there's strategies that can be implemented around it (gotta love psychological warfare) - but I'm planning to make an active attempt to ensure that this deadline is maintained.
