A friend of mine once told me that 'it's only ego if you can't back it up'. Too many people like to confuse confidence for arrogance -- there's a big difference.

Not to get all psychological, but some people are actually just 'wired' to take things people say literally. I'm like that to an extent, but I've learned that people here are usually just shitposting.

Happy Anniversary, Ailyn. Six years ago, you gave me a kindred soul, and brought light into a life which for all intents and purposes had been mostly nothing but darkness.

Valentine's Day's bittersweet when you've endured a long-distance relationship for over five years. Here's to celebrating the strength of a meaningful bond, instead of taking a shallow and easy path.

This bio will get reconstructed once I've left the site for good. I'll be collecting my data in the background for now, and sorting some loose ends. I'll be on and off to do it, so don't think I'm back if you see me around. Once I've dealt with everything, I'll log out properly and remove my 'ghost' status, and that'll be the last this site sees of me. This community is in serious need of growing up, and I'm not the least bit surprised that role-plays die here so frequently.

The 'Grim Reaper's Gambit' role-play is likely to reboot elsewhere eventually. The role-play will have some modifications, so contact me if you're curious since the original project won't accurately explain everything. There's no determined date for it to happen yet, since I've got other priorities and I'm not investing a lot of time in it until enough of the people interested have free time to properly commit (lack of dedication on the part of some players practically destroyed the previous version; it's very apparent it would've died even if I hadn't decided to leave). There's a group that're quite interested, but most of them are busy.

Anyway, come back later for an update later -- or don't; it's your life.

Contact Details

Tell me who you are or I possibly won't accept the request, since I assume most requests are bots.
Yes, people who I rarely/never spoke to - or who never met me - while I was still here are welcome.
No, those who disrespected me (and aren't sorry) while I was here or are trolls/immature in general aren't welcome.
Also, keep in mind that not all of these are currently being used actively, so friend request replies might be delayed on some of them.

Playstation Network (PSN): Shoryu_Magami
(I'm fairly easy to contact through here, though I'm not really gaming much due to my main project's workload.)

Discord: Shoryu Magami#4323
(Unlike Skype, I primarily text chat on this instead of voice chat. It's currently one of the easiest ways to find me. It causes my PC a lot of problems though.)

Skype: solitaryangel1983
(Usually running on my phone, mostly so I can talk to my fiancé, so it's easy to find me here. I've currently got no access to it on PC. It might take a while to see requests.)

Facebook: James Koutsoukis - Shoryu Magami
(Barely ever on this, but it exists. Mostly exists so @Ailyn Evensen can list me as her fiancé. You'll find me easily on messenger if you add me, but I don't do much else.)

Yahoo IM: shoryu_magami
(Does this even still exist anymore? It used to be my main method of text chat, but it's not on my current PC.)

I know the feeling, considering sorting through the data for my project is very 'grind for XP' tedious too. For all intents and purposes, I'm doing it from the moment I wake up until the moment I sleep, every single day.

With gaming, I sort of do it on and off, since I've also got a tendency to get too obsessed, yeah. I mostly play JRPGs, TJRPGs, and fighting games, but I also like some other types of genres if the games themselves interest me. Like the stuff I mentioned previously with picking a role-playing genre, I'm extremely picky with games too. I'm a chess player, so I can appreciate strategy.
@NekoMizu

I'm not sure, since I haven't seen it.
@Landaus Five-One

Yeah, I technically joined this site to take a break from my project after technology made me lose a lot of data, but now I'm more or less using this site as a means to boost my morale and help me actually work on it again. I didn't even know if I'd stick around, and a lot of things almost made me leave, but I've met some decent people here.

Just so you know, some of the better friends from my old GA role-playing forums actually became members on this site after I joined, and they're all part of GRG now.
@NekoMizu

Not really, although it probably is for some people there. It's just strange that the idea hasn't been done, considering all the other insane stuff that anime has pulled off over the years.
@Landaus Five-One

Yeah, I honestly find the really big and extensively detailed projects to be the ones that I'm more interested in. I mean, I can enjoy something simple, but as a general rule I always tend to be complex and in-depth with my own work. Also, my project's bound to be detailed, because it's 'literary fiction'. The amount of data I have for GA is actually sort of insane, considering there's thousands (possibly tens of thousands) of notepads of unsorted information for me to organize currently, and a lot of it's been lost or corrupted due to technology screwing with me.

All the best with that project of yours too, and cheers.

If you like detailed projects, you might want to at least take a look at the GRG project I'm running on this site (the one that's loosely connected to GA). Even though barely any of the information has been revealed in the thread yet, it's very easy to see why I might not have time for other role-plays due to that one I'm running.

As for giving 100% with role-plays, yeah, I just don't think there's a point doing something in general if you're gonna half-arse it.
@CrazyShadowy

Meant the in-universe date, but cheers anyway.
@Landaus Five-One

Pretty much. Final Fantasy is - much like a lot of the good Squaresoft/Square Enix projects - very much a mix of multiple genres, which is one of the reasons why I'm able to get into it -- even if one element doesn't interest me, something else will. GA is pretty much exactly the same in that sense. I like stuff like Cowboy Bebop too, so - like I said previously - I'm hardly 'opposed' to Sci-Fi, but there needs to be more to it.

As for what Guardian Ascension (GA) is, it's my main story project. I've been developing it for decades. Think of it like my life's work; in fact, I often refer to it as a manifestation of my soul, because it's a deeply personal project and is heavily rooted in my philosophy and inspired by a wide range of things that have been enjoyable, interesting, or nostalgic to me. I used to run a few role-playing forums based on it, but I closed them up because they were getting in the way of the work on the project and there was a bunch of issues with some of the members. The main role-play I'm running on this site is loosely connected to it -- part of the multiverse.

You'll likely hear me reference GA a lot, because I'm obsessed with anything I put my passion into. That's actually another reason I'm not committed to joining this role-play just yet, even if I'm considering it, because I'm very much the type of person who either 'gives something his 100%' or 'doesn't bother at all', which means I'd hate the idea of joining something if I wasn't gonna stick with it.

@CrazyShadowy

Yeah, though I'm still confirming the exact date of the thing. Lol.
@CrazyShadowy

Well yeah, I've made no secret that GA is complicated, especially since I'm not really spoiling anything if I say the 'Sci-Fi' elements are basically an illusion (technically, the same applies to Xenogears, since it was actually far more esoteric).

@Landaus Five-One

Xenogears is, honestly, one of the best stories/games ever created in my eyes. It largely helps that it was made by Squaresoft and was inspired by Gnosticism (both of which have a lot of significance to me), but yeah. I wouldn't say it 'inspired' GA or anything, because I developed my project over a decade before knowing Xenogears existed (I'm from Australia, and Xenogears never came out here, so all I knew about it until ten or eleven years ago was from one video game magazine I had), but there's definitely some parallels.

Anyway, as for the spaceships thing, not really. I have exceptions where sometimes I'll like something like that, considering I'm technically into the Gundam series and whatnot, and Star Ocean (though this is like Xenogears and Final Fantasy, in the sense of not completely being Sci-Fi), and Zone of the Enders is another good series (I forgot about them when I gave my previous examples, since they were off the top of my head), but I'll pretty much never get into something solely on the basis of it being Sci-Fi. Basically, the genre itself doesn't win me over, so I need other elements. I'm not particularly interested in technology, for just one example of why.

Long story short, I can enjoy a futuristic setting, but it has to have other elements I'm interested in. To be fair though, I have exactly the same sort of attitude towards the medieval fantasy genre. I'm really picky about things that I'm interested in, and tend to have a lot of extreme likes and dislikes, but my main genre of interest is contemporary fantasy. The battles in my project are often beyond cosmic level, but not using technology.
@Landaus Five-One

It's not like I think there's anything 'wrong' with someone liking Sci-Fi or something -- it's just not my thing. The closest things I could give you (off the top of my head) to something Sci-Fi that I liked was Xenogears, Final Fantasy VIII, and Ergo Proxy. None of them apart from the last one really feels like a genuine Sci-Fi. Any other ones I could mention would include spoilers.

Anyway, 'yo, nice to meet you'.

@CrazyShadowy

I understand why role-plays involving friends are more effective, honestly. There's plenty of good reasons.

Anyway, with the whole technology thing requiring the setting be futuristic, I understand why you'd need to do that. It's not like this is GA (my main project for people in this thread who don't know me) or something, where there's insanely powerful technology in a more or less modern setting (it's complicated). Looking into the technology's something else I'll need to read over before committing to things.

Essentially, it's illegal to keep someone in jail if it's a known fact they're innocent, but that's in the real world -- could very well be different in a fictional setting.
@CrazyShadowy

Honestly, I think role-plays usually work much better if the group involved are friends. A healthy OOC often contributes largely to whether or not a role-play is active. We'll see what happens, but I'm considering it. Really all depends on whether I think my tastes/style will blend into this well enough -- I don't generally go futuristic.

If someone's discovered to be innocent, they generally get released, yeah. I'm not inherently aiming at having them get pardoned, or even committing to playing someone with such a backstory as of yet, but I figured I'd get the details down.
