@Sightles How many characters can we have per player?

There is no hard limit, however, I'd prefer if it was kept to a reasonable amount. Mainly so it is easier to keep track of everything. For instance, 3 characters would be fine, but 4 would be starting to stretch it a little. However, if you're wanting to run more than that, I'm sure we can make it work!

Alrighty! It seems we have enough people. I'll work on putting up the thread. I'm in the Central Time Zone, and I'm hoping to have it up here pretty soon. Probably around 8 CST
Yes, you got the picture of what I'm trying to accomplish. Horror, with slice of life elements thrown in is the perfect way to describe it. Of course, I have no problem answering your questions! Anything for someone interested!

1. While it would be nice to have at least a couple of posts a week, I can't exactly nail down what the speed of the thread will be. That be said, there is absolutely NO requirement for how many times you need to post in a week. I'd love to have you, no matter how often you post. Though, once again, I have no idea how fast the thread will move, though. I'm lucky enough to have a job where I'm allowed to use a computer, so I can be expected to be on everyday. Although, that doesn't mean I plan on doing things at breakneck speed.

2. It will depend on player actions, and events. The scale of horror is suppose to build, and build, over the course of the thread. Starting out with simply minor scares, ghost stories, and things that give characters goosebumps. However, as things about the camp's past are uncovered, and the more darker side of Wachata is shown, it may turn into an entirely different beast. There won't be anything in the realm of Jason Vorhees killing the whole camp, but their will be very REAL physical dangers to the characters later on.

3. I was actually considering that. Depending on the size, I would love to have a co-GM, especially one that I can confer on with the plot, and to help carry out side stories, control NPCs, and help player interaction along.

Thanks for asking your questions! I really hope you get the chance to join!

Okay, awesome. That's hopefully 5 people. I am gonna go ahead and wait for one more person before I make the thread, however. I feel like 6 is a good starting number.
Awesome! Glad you're both interested!

As for tips, AluminumDude, the best tip I've ever gotten for RPing is "Take it slow." Let things progress naturally, and don't try to force anything. As for that, there really isn't a lot of wrong ways to RP. If you have any questions, though, feel free to PM or ask me!

Since we're getting a fair number of people interested, I may put up the thread soon. May wait for one more person or so to show interest before I do that. So happy so many people are interested!
Absolutely not! I'd love to have someone new on board!

I see you've played some DnD, so I don't imagine you'll be that lost. Haha. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Always love having someone new to Play by Post.
Awesome! Hopefully, once this thread sits for a full day, we'll have more people show interest.

Hi, everyone! I'm looking into making 'Camp Wachata' a popular thread. The basis of the thread is a horror/romance/slice of life narrative. If you have any questions, please ask! I'd love for you to join!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Intro:

Camp Wachata was founded in 1975 in the American Northwest. Camp Wachata was used as a camp for girls aged 15 to 19, at the time. With a scenic lake, a flowing river, and a sleepy forest, the camp was meant to be a place for girls to spend their summers learning new hobbies, being taught skills, and creating lasting friendships. However, it wouldn't take long for tragedy to strike. In the summer of 1979, one of the camp counselors and one of the campers were found dead. Their bodies were mangled and obviously hidden. The culprit of the murder was never found. While many believed it to be a bear attack, especially as time went on as no evidence was found, the camp was still closed down indefinitely.

Recently reopened, and renovated in the 1990s, Camp Wachata has since experienced a revival. Now accepting both girls and boys, and focusing on creating the same lasting skills and friendships the old Camp did, the camp's attendance has flourished. Accepting an age group from 15 to 19 as campers, their average attendance has been well into the hundreds. However, despite the happy environment, rumors and ghost stories are abound of the old tragedy. Stories about how you can see the ghost of the dead camper walking across the foggy lake, early in the morning. Stories about how if you stay up too late, the old camp counselor will bang on your walls. But, that's all just stories. Nothing creepy or scary ever happens at Camp Wachata.

The year is now 2015, and Camp Wachata has been going steady for about 20 years now. Fishing, archery, boating, white water rapid riding, hiking, bird watching, and meeting new people are only a few of the activities that Camp Wachata has. With arms wide open, Camp Wachata welcomes all types of new faces, hoping to make sure the campers have the best summers of their life!

Just, make sure you turn your lights off at night, alright?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The basis of the plot is focused around the campers, camp counselors, and the past of the camp. It'll definitely have a big horror undertone, that I hope to control with nice pacing and some subtlety. It'll mainly be suspense and mystery driven. There won't be any 10-foot tall swamp monsters going after the campers. :P

Other than the natural progression I take the thread through, the biggest focus is player interaction, and interaction with the camp. Players have every chance to do whatever they want, in a very sandboxy way. Of course, I'll be more than ready to help find focus for players who have difficulty with the freedom, and many other storylines can be created. I place a HUGE emphasis on player freedom, and players changing the plot and setting through their character's actions.

I hope you consider this, and I hope you decide to join!
