Name: Carol Keller
Age: 19
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Character Trait:
Scrounger: Carol's well accustomed to a life of making do, and the apocalyptic conditions that have thrown so many off balance just reminder her of home. She can steal, find, or barter for just about anything a person needs, if it's within reason, and while she's no tech expert, she's reasonably capable at kludging broken machines into (relative) functioning.
Character Personality: Carol is loud, foul-mouthed, and cheerful. She's an incorrigible optimist, even in the face of the dire odds the planet is currently facing, and cares a great deal for the people close to her, though this doesn't detract from her tendency to be snarky and/or foul-mouthed to them. She has a bit of a temper and is very quick to argue with people she believes to be in the wrong (especially authority figures, which makes her perhaps not the best soldier), though she'll generally forget about it just as quickly if they're her friends.
Character Background: Carol was born on the planet Tallatet, a barren world in the middle of galactic nowhere. It was a lawless place, made only slightly less so by the dedicated work of her Uncle Jack, sheriff of one of the largest regions of the planet's sole inhabitable continent, who raised her and her baby sister after her parents were caught in the crossfire of a local gang shootout. Her uncle was a busy man, however, and while he did his best to guide and care for them, Carol and the other children of her town mainly raised themselves, rampaging through the wasteland, exploring wrecked space ships, and learning to scrounge for whatever they could.
Then the Bulwark arrived. Tallatet was subjugated almost overnight, having no formal militia and little government presence, and only two refugee ships managed to escape the burning world. Carol still remembers how she and her family had to pile into that cramped cargo hold, the air thick with the smell of sweat and the crying of refugees, not knowing if the old junker would even start but knowing that the alien forces were just a few miles away. When they arrived on earth, she didn't mind the draft so much, after that.
She was processed into the last army of humanity not long ago, put through basic training and told it was her job to hold the final line. Her sister Summer had always shown promise in the medical field, and she was sent to work in a military hospital on Earth - Uncle Jack was too old for the draft, but he volunteered anyway. She hasn't seen either of them for some time.
Curio: A small picture of her uncle and little sister, which she keeps folded into her jacket pocket.
