Modern Army Combative.
OK, so I assume you know MAC. The basic principles of MAC are applicable here. You have three options in which to utilize your powers in a fight.

1- Disengage to reestablish range for your power.
2- Gain a controlling position using your powers, and utilizing a secondary power/weapon.
3- Use your powers to close and gain control to finish the fight.

This is the basis for how you want to fight.
Alright. I'll use JT. So we'll go through basic combatives and ramp in your powers as we go. I will stance first.
I teach in a very specific way that makes what I see irrelevant. A mentor should never fully tailor to the student, but rather the other way around for proper passage of skill and knowledge. In my experience, that is. Of course, it's also entirely up to FateWeaver.

I suppose. Everyone is different in instruction and learning.
Aye. Although I prefer to see what someone has to build on and tailor instruction that way. Different styles of teaching.
I have agreed to a mentor match with Fallen, to make up for the lack of instruction by Rilla. If you want to Seed, I don't mind. I was simply going to run Fate through a series of attack/defense exercises to see what he knows.
Hmmm I guess I need to make an intro soon.
Man, those names bring back memories.

I'm getting her there. Mainly I'm trying to work over some paranoia issues about making her too strong or too weak. >,< I swear, she's coming along slowly! *head smacks on desk*

Your character-fu is weak grasshopper.
Long story short, I want a way to test some of my characters in a more combat-oriented scenario. I've been roleplaying for a while but I've never bothered with any arena based forums in the past. I've done some reading, mostly regarding T1, and I think I'm ready to get started. So, on to what I'm looking for.

Like it seems many others have been doing here among the interest checks, I'm looking to learn from someone more experienced at RPing combat. More importantly, I want to find out how well my writing style fits a combat situation with someone I can trust to offer constructive criticism. On top of that, I'd like some help getting some of my characters Arena-ready. I have them fleshed out for story- and character-driven plots, but most are nonspecific as to combat ability and mostly just flow with the tone of the RP.

I certainly do intend to join the major Arena threads shortly, and I expect you'll find me there as soon as I decide at least one of my characters is adequately prepared. In the mean time, I'd like a quick mid-powered bout or two to see how things go and if I actually enjoy this style of writing.

At some point in the near future, I may add a couple of my characters here as a baseline to work from starting out. The majority of them are inspired by D&D-style fantasy settings, with a few other universes (mostly Dresden for more modern settings) thrown into the mix. I typically don't use guns with any of my characters, but that may change in the future depending on how things go.

Anyway, message me or post here if you're interested in helping me out. I only ask that if you post here, you toss a mention my way so I remember to actually look.

I can help you if you want.
