Short Bio: Viviana is a soft-spoken native of the country of Patet, the daughter of a great healer in her father and a skilled royal guard in her mother. All her life she has desperately wished to be a great healer like her father, but she has always had an unfortunate affinity for more destructive forms of magic. She has an older brother who recently went off to the neighboring country of Flavus to try and help with the outbreak of monsters. Now she herself is on the way out of the country to search for some way to combat the plague which has broken out.

Welcome to Primalux!

Here in the land of Primalux, there are as many mages and sorcerers as there are knights in shining armor. As many axe-wielding barbarians and bandits as there are sellswords wandering around looking for a bit more coin. Fantastical creatures abound, whether sinister, friendly, or perhaps just benign. Throughout the land, there are six great countries: Patet, Flavus, Virens, Caerula, Blattinus, and Rutilus.

There are many tales told throughout this land, but none so widespread and enduring as that of the demon dragon, Gehenna...

The Tale of Gehenna [+]

So the tale goes that, nearly one thousand years ago, the land had fallen into despair. Cruelty and pain covered the land in countless ways. Famines, plagues, wars, monsters, corruption, and poverty abounded, to the point that some had almost no concept of true happiness. And it was from this pain and sorrow that Gehenna was said to be born. He was the land's suffering, given flesh, and he descended upon it with breath like hellfire, his arrival heralded by the total eclipse of the sun. In this darkest of hours, it seemed that the land was soon to meet its destruction.

However, even amidst this hopelessness like no other, there was one who rose up. An unproven young man by the name of Devante. Seeing the sorrow and despair around him, he resolved to fight against it, despite the impossibility of his victory. And so, even as the dragon continued to wreak havoc and leave decimation in its wake, Devante traveled the land, making every single injustice that he came upon his own personal issue until it was solved. In his journeys, he made friend after friend, recruited traveling companion after traveling companion to aid him in his directionless quest. And with the size of his following, so too grew the scope of his aid, until he had amassed a virtual army of those who, even in the face of annihilation, sought to bring the world what hope they could. Everywhere they went, the ills of the land were eradicated around them. Corruption was uprooted, famines were counteracted, monsters were beaten back to their lairs, wars were brought to an end, and even plagues seemed to fade away around them. The despair that had gripped the land somehow seemed to be lapsing.

Sensing this, the demon dragon paused in its rampage, to go and seek Devante out. In a terrible voice that echoed for miles around, he called for the supposed hero to come and face him, and prove the power of good over evil. As soon as the young man got wind of this challenge, he made no delay in going out to meet the dragon, so strong was his belief in the hope he'd seen in the faces of those he'd helped. And do it was that he and the dragon met on an open island in the center of a great bay, as thousands upon thousands of people looked on from the distant shores. Even as the dragon loudly taunted the mere mortal for his folly, Devante stood firm, looking upon the dragon with all the hatred he held for cruelty and injustice, speaking not a word. Finally, the dragon saw that he could coax no other reaction out of the human, and so with one enormous burst of flame, Devante was no more.

However, upon seeing this singular act of selflessness, there was such a wave of emotion in those countless onlookers, that for one moment, all of the despair that filled them to that point vanished, replaced entirely by their burning desire to honor the memory of their fallen hero, and follow his example to keep hope alive. The demon dragon could do little more than look around in a panic as he felt that despair which had sustained him disappear, as the radiant hope all around scorched his blackened soul. With one last anguished roar, the beast was engulfed in golden flames, and the earth split open to swallow up him as he tumbled down deep beneath the island. With his destruction came the end of an era, the Age of Suffering, and in its wake, the Age of Hope was born.

From that day forward, all the people of the land vowed to honor the memory of Devante, posthumously named the Hero of Hope. Six flawless gemstones were created and given to each of the great kingdoms, to act as a memorial to the hero. Into these gemstones, all the hopes of the people of these lands were poured. It has been prophesied that the dragon will return if the world's hope were to wane once again, and in that time six heroes will rise up to claim these gemstones, and use their power to destroy the dragon once and for all.

One millenium later, the tale of Gehenna and Devante is still told all throughout the land of Primalux. But the message of hope behind it seems to have been lost to the ages. The era of the land is still called the Age of Hope, but there are some who believe it to be drawing to a close. To the south, a war is brewing between the two great nations of Rutilus and Virens, the former in the midst of a great drought, and the latter a terrible famine. To the north, Caerula is falling under the influence of a sinister cult. Its neighbor, Blattinus, has been experiencing mysterious widespread disappearances. In Flavus, an outbreak of terrible monsters has struck terror into the people, and all throughout the land beasts have been growing bolder, venturing ever closer to towns and cities, and the roads between them. And in Patet, where our story begins, a plague is spreading which resists the effects of healing magic, and threatens to cripple the entire kingdom.

All throughout the land, hope seems to be in decline. The tale of Gehenna is retold in hushed mutters, as people now begin to fear this is the suffering which shall herald his return. Where then, are the six heroes who will save the world?

And there you have it! Like I mentioned we'll be starting out in the easterly country of Patet, and while I'll be using my character to provide the impetus for our little adventure (Since we obviously aren't gonna start out knowing we're the six heroes), the story will be primarily focused on our six characters, equally. Feel free to work it out so that your characters have a history with each other if you want to, as long as they're all in the same relative area of Patet at the time of starting, it doesn't particularly matter who they are or where they're from! Feel free to ask questions about any of the regions if you think you want your character to be from there.
