Bio

Just a humble born Canadian, who has been roleplaying and writing for over 15 years, looking to scratch the creative itch and write glorious sci-fi stories of war and peace!

Not much more to say here, really. I suppose I could fill it in with all sorts of info, but who really reads these?

Done. Hey, @Agathon, consider yourself poked :P

Breathe.
The background hubbub of the ship’s gym dropped away, and Stardust’s perception seemed to become hyper-aware of his surroundings:
The steady whoosh of a group of the battlecruiser’s Nahydran fighter pilots, practicing flying in a full G, holding on to supports to keep from slamming into the overhead.
The steady cadence of a handful of human runners on treadmills.
The occasional grunt of someone straining to lift weights.
Taking a deep breath, Stardust launched himself at the sparring dummy with a flurry of jabs and kicks, sending it skidding across the non-slip mats laid down to prevent such from happening. Leaping into the air, he finished with a solid roundhouse kick to the side of the training dummy’s head, actually knocking it over onto its side.
[They are not supposed to be easily knocked over,] a Nahydran voice cawed, and Stardust blinked to see Sovv standing a few feet away. He glanced down at the dummy and then back at her, and shrugged.
“Just working off some energy,” he said simply. “What’s up?”
[CENTCOM has retasked us.]
That caught Stardust’s attention. “We’re not linking up with a Xargon Peacekeeper detachment for exercises?”
[Negative. We are to proceed at once to the trade hub of Central and eliminate it from pirate scum that have seized control of the system. I have already directed the helm to do so; I wished to inform you of the change.]
Stardust shrugged again. “Sure. What’s our ETA?”
Sovv looked him up and down, her wings indicating amusement. [You have time to bathe. Sir.]
Stardust ignored the implied comment that he stank – he had been exercising rather vigorously for over an hour. Taking a deep breath, he shifted his feet and stretched, feeling the burn in his muscles.
“Okay then,” he said. “I’ll hit the shower and get refreshed; can you make an announcement and arrange a stealthy insertion into the outer system?”
Sovv nodded. [Central has extensive deep-space and hyperspace tracking; permission to take us off the grid on our approach?]
“Granted. I’ll be in the CIC in half an hour.”
Feel free to start posting. Or should I go first, as the GM/OP or whatever?
Here's the ship I'll be using. Fleet details are below, but they won't be partaking in this particular exercise. Feel free to emulate this yourselves.

Hellfire-class battlecruiser. Mankind’s sharpest sword. Primary force concentration asset of the second stage of Project: PREDATOR and the Combat Analysis Survey. The mission of the Hellfire-class is to enter a tactical situation and resolve it successfully. No matter the threat, Hellfire-class warships are designed to deploy intelligence, tactical superiority, task force & fleet command, strategic integration and small craft support to any theater to degrade and overcome any foe. From a tactical perspective, the Hellfire-class depends on nothing.
Loosely based on a Nahydran design, and integrating several advanced technologies from three different races, the Hellfire-class battlecruisers represent a new dawn in Allied warship construction. Advanced shielding and hybrid armoring ensure the ships can take the blows designed to shatter conventional capital ships, but their experimental propulsion and power generation systems enable them to perform evasive maneuvers long-deemed impossible for this type of starship without breaking it in half. They are designed both for extensive combat operations as well as short, high-intensity ship to ship engagements.
Communications systems built to the Confederation Star Navy’s SERPENT DANCE initiative provide common operational capability even in the face of most jamming, as well as non-permissive environments such as nebulae, and are designed to integrate with other Navy assets, multiplying the effectiveness of a unit’s force awareness. SERPENT DANCE can also designate a group leader or coordinate a flat, decentralized operations system across a given theater or battlespace, intelligently distributing tasks and updates across all units in a task force or battle group.
The primary design tradeoffs lie in poor logistical capability – for all their combat prowess, Hellfire-class battlecruisers don’t have much space for consumable stores and repair supplies; to offset this, High Command rarely deploys these assets far from resupply or for long term independent operations without a support convoy nearby.
Endless conflict gave birth to the Hellfire-class. They are a departure from the Terran philosophy of giant centerpiece combatants capable of withstanding as much fire as possible, the Xargon fleet’s doctrine with multiple mission-specific assets grouped together for organizational theater operations, as well as the Nahydran tactical operations plan of multiple escalating tiers of combat-capable craft centered around heavy battle carriers. Rather, they incorporate capabilities from all three races. These ships thrive in the very heart of combat, and are all but undefeatable in combined-arms sorties.
It is no surprise that such hard-hitting vessels only draw from the best and most capable to crew them.

A fascinating take. I will definitely re-use that... for another thread I am contemplating. For now, new thread started at http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/161324-open-solar-skirmish/ooc
SOLAR SKIRMISH

Situation: Pirates have overrun the garrison defending the planet Central, the regional hub for commerce and trade within Sirius Sector. Planetary population held hostage and system is effectively blockaded.
Opposition: Approximately two battlegroups of pirate cruisers, raiders, and boarding carriers, led by an old assault carrier, the Acheron. Planetary defenses and civilian reports confirm pirate forces are concentrated in and around planetary orbit, but sufficient strength present patrolling the outer system to prevent a sneak deployment in the system’s outer regions.
Assets: 1x starship of no greater than capital-type designation (battlecruiser, battleship, dreadnought or assault carrier; anything larger would be a titan, and anything smaller would be a cruiser) max per player, plus attendant assets such as fighters, mecha, boarding craft, etc.
Restrictions: Limited use of strategic weapons (antimatter bombs, dimensional interrupts, etc.) no godmodding and no superweapons.

Any character from any universe welcome - this is cross-universe, so Mass Effect, Star trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, WH40K etc, and your own creations are welcome.

Potential roles are those in ships in the space engagement, and those who go down to the surface to fight the pirates on the ground, urban combat setting.

I think that's everything. Msg me any questions you have. Charsheets/starships on the Characters tab, and bonus points if you have pictures you can upload!

Okay, how does that happen? Does a moderator have to do it or what. I looked in the settings and didn't find anything... or should I just restart it over in the Casual thread?
If you think that's best. I've barely gotten myself warmed up...
I've tried out the RP Repository and ...roleplayer DOT net or something similar in the last few months. The former has a fairly active community, and great design, but IDK I just couldn't get into it. Ditto the other one.
In the land before time, Littlefoot's mom, depressingly enough, died. But he had memes so all was well. Until Megatron laser cannoned the fire nation, destroying many cabbages and causing Littlefoot to become a powerful earth bender after Cera was brutally flung across the ocean. "By the power of Greyskull," the flaming homosexual wombat exclaimed, as he slipped and fell, only to be caught by a hopeless romantic trying to figure out the meaning of extraterrestrial existence in bed. Then he realized that without cheese, he could not feed his grandmother so he bought some power metal, pure cheesy goodness. However, Littlefoot was a metalbender, meaning the power metal could be bent, which would be glorious for Fire Nation. So Littlefoot challenged Megatron to a fist fight aboard the ship shaped like a cabbage. "Help me, Obi-wan!" Megatron cried, heard by a crimson eagle living in your basement furnace. Littlefoot tried to defeat Megatron by singing sweet nothings and tempting him with bacon, which was remarkably effective.
