Lily sat there working. Every so often, her eyes flickered from the document propped up in the stand beside the desktop computer to the door of her office. The meeting had been completed an hour ago though she had completely bypassed Rex on the way out, her time pressed as it was and to be late wasn’t suitable for her position, sadly skipping out on their scheduled social time. A matter she wasn’t pleased with. He naturally understood though it didn’t stop her heart from sinking into her feet for most the meeting as it was weighed down by guilt.

When she returned, Rex was already gone. Likely he had decided to distract himself and would come back soon enough. Hoping to be ready for his arrival, Lily had cleared the arrangement of teas, cakes and other sweet treats after Ms. Matthews had left, with her guardian in tow. If there hadn’t been a meeting, Lily would’ve considered personally ensuring Darius’ young daughter had been situated and seen she was taken care of. Though unfortunately, as a principle, she couldn’t dare to show favoritism to one temporarily student over the numerous musicians at the Academy. It was bad form and not one she would indulge in, considering the Essence still required keeping to ensure the school was left untarnish.

Now there was just the sound of her nails typing in a rhythm much like her music on the ill suited keyboard. Her lips gave a wistful sigh while her eyes were drawn to her violin, its strings and notes playing in her head, though her office was drowned in utter silence. Part of her missed the simpler days, idly musing over lost times. Even Maroon crept into her thoughts, still a charming teenager with the cocky smirk and flaming red hair, before her mind shattered the image abruptly thanks to the red threads cutting into her throat. For a moment, she paused. Her body pushed back from her desk and elegant fingers reached to rub her throat, worried she would’ve felt the raw, torn flesh underneath. Lily wasn’t sure which hurt more. The threads or the fact Maroon’s choice cared more for strangers then herself, willing to end her life for the upper hand. A hand that didn’t exist causing her to stare at the unfinished document, her expression sober and blank.

A knock at the door broke the aching silence.

Lily felt her mind jerk from the memories filling her attention when the hard knock reached her ears, her eyes snapped upright. She knew where it came from and little surprise, she knew who was behind it as she had been woken up to that heavy, raspy breathing many times. “Come in, Rex.”

The door opened slowly to reveal the Wolfman behind it. His huge mass being larger than the door itself. Years of practice have made passing such small passages much easier. He dexterously entered into Lily’s office, and shut the door behind him. “Busy day, hmm?” Despite his menacing form, his voice had a comforting sweetness to it. But then again, his relaxed, laid back nature made him come off as more charming than menacing.

He approached the Principal's desk, his powerful hind legs thumping against the wooden floor boards. Since all of the furniture wasn’t suited for his weight, he sat on the floor instead, waiting patiently for Lily’s reply, with a cheesy, childish animal grin on his muzzle.

Lily regretted never approaching a chair maker to create a custom seat for her spouse, her guilt surfacing on her face briefly before it faded. Her eyes studied Rex’s wolfish smirk and let the sensation of love, comfort and more fill her for the moment. It was a relief to see him not angry with her though it was rather rare in most cases, a trait she cherished, as she placed the computer on sleep mode. Her hand reached to flip over the protective plastic sheet onto the document, preventing any wandering eyes from reading them, a matter which had occurred in the past, then pushed up out of her seat. Lily walked about the desk in her graceful, casual walk before she stood just in front of her love.

“Yes, sadly, though it’s a blessing to see you Rex,” she reached over to gently brush a tender kiss on his wet nose, “Personally I wish I was at home with my feet propped up and enjoying your company.”

Rex would know the subtle hint to what type of company she was referring to, her figure pulled back to her original position. “How was your day?”

He knew exactly what his love was referring to, and the thought made his grin wider. His day was quite something. Lounging around at home all day was what happened these days. Either that, or mercenary work. And he was not interested in the latter anymore, he left that life behind him. “A little boring without your company, love.” He replied, his sheepish grin remained glued to his muzzle.

She gave Rex a small, sad look while she related to the fact she rather be home with him. The matter that she wasn’t was due to lack of trust with the Essence and in the end, she feared leaving the school and risked coming back to it in ruins. Lily sighed the thought off into the back of her mind before she focused on her visit instead. “I only hope this day becomes better, which reminds me. I need to notify Linda to expect a call from Darius, he’ll likely want to talk to Ms. Matthews and see if she is alright. Also finish sending out memos to the various teachers about Ms. Matthews’ arrangements and her privilege to sit on classes without notice.”

Still thinking about it, she shifted to grab a sticky pad then began to scribble her notes down.

Rex looked down at his large paws, or hands, since he had fingers. They were big and clumsy, and asking Lily if she wanted help would be a bad idea, as he would end up making things worse with these things. But then, he felt guilty for not asking. He lowered his hands and asked. “Can I help you in anyway?”

Lily’s writing stopped abruptly. Her dark head lifted and turned to Rex, her eyes studying him a moment with a soft smile on her lips. It wasn’t hard to see what had crossed her mind but in a place of business, that was the last thing she could indulge in. “No Rex, but I do ask one thing: try not to turn my guests into cherries too often, dear. I believe Ms. Matthews has a permanent blush after your playfulness.”

Lily gently teased her husband, her ears had caught the earlier conversation after she departed.

“Heh…” The wolf breathed out. “I’m sure when she finds a boy that she likes, he will make her redder than I have.”

“That’s not funny, Rex.” Lily stated, though her tone was softer than scolding. Her eyes averted from his, slightly, as she recalled a few times of being in Olivia’s position when they were dating. Being over seven hundred years she thought it was impossible to blush anymore until Rex took the challenge and proved her dead wrong. “Darius certainly raised her well.”

Rex visibly frowned a little and said. “Never really trusted that fox, but he did raise a nice girl. I can give him that.” The Kitsune was a sly bastard, and a resourceful one. He never dealt with him personally, but he always got a strange vibe even at the mention of his name. “I hope she likes it here. Not many safe havens like this around these days.”

“It’s only temporary, we have no idea if that kidnapping was merely a one time thing or the motive behind it, Rex.” Lily corrected, her body turned to rest her hips on the desk edge and crossed her arms around her chest, “We don’t know if this attempt will occur again and since she hasn’t any magical talents, keeping her longer than necessary is only going to harm her education. We don’t offer the proper academics for normal humans beside the scholar program. To be truthful, I don’t have much faith in her succeeding in that route after seeing her rattled so easily.”

Lily stopped when she noted her tone had a slight more edge to it than she intended for it to have. A matter she made obvious with a sigh and shifted from the topic, answering Rex’s dislike toward Darius. “I won’t deny, Darius’ activities and goals are hard to figure out. Even I can’t fully understand why he wanted the Essence and I to work together, save one goal is to benefit his pact holder. It’s in the nature of all his kind. A matter that very well will hurt him the most.”

“Hopefully…” Clearly, Rex didn’t have much to say on the subject, so he changed it to something more lighthearted. “I haven’t asked you how your day has been yet.” His cheesy grin returned in full swing. “So… How was your day?” His head tilted and his ears focused on his wife, awaiting her answer.

Lily gave him a look that seemed to wonder if he’s been listening at all, mostly as from her statements it would’ve clear how her day went. “I thought it would’ve obvious dear, namely from recent events and such. Then again, keeping the Essence in line isn’t easy. That pushed aside, the day’s been normal so far. I still have tons of paperwork to get typed in and sorted before the week’s end which has started to give me a headache lately, especially when all I want to do is play my violin.”

She had a little bit of longing in her thoughts while she glanced at the instrument, likely the only thing able to withstand Rex’s handling, sitting on it’s iron stand and tempting her. Normally she wouldn’t need encouragement but things had been piling up lately, any free time was spent playing catch up.

After a moment of thought, and following Lily’s gaze, he looked back at her and spoke his thoughts. “Perhaps it’s time to spend some of the remaining hours for yourself, hmm? You have worked your fingers to the bone. They might as well relax a little and play your violin’s strings.” Rex suggested as he stood up and approached the musical instrument, gently grasping it, and bringing it to her.

His hand outstretched, presented her second love to her, the Violin. As she looked at it, it stared back at her, subliminally beckoning her to take it into her hands and caress it.

Though she had played before Olivia arrived, a weakness in the moment, she had only done so in order to sooth the child’s troil and not for herself. Now Rex had encouraged her to play for her heart and own pleasure, something she hadn’t done in a long time. Unable to resist she gently took up the violin again then pressed it to her chin while her arm held the other end, her breath steady and still for several moments. Her bow held in the familiar gesture she adored which gave her complete mastery over the movements she would pour into each note pouring from her core. The sound began softly and smoothly, sounding like more than one had began its musical flight making her lips curl into a warm smile. The melody echoed through the small room, filling each corner leaving it with a sense of passion she added to the vibrations.

The notes repeated in an endless circle driving a warmth to flood those listening right in the heart. Her eyes closed, letting the music sweep her along in its waves rippling in each movement of her bow. Each pass it was clear she was lost in the emotions she stirred within herself and the enjoyment she gave to her single listener, her very love and life.

After several minutes, she let the string’s last hum die and set her instrument back on the iron stand. Her eyes glanced back to Rex, smiling at his earlier encouragement. “Thank you love, though I have a question for you. Why did you chose to visit today?”

He loved her music, he always has. Earlier today he didn’t even enter the room and simply let her play. That was one of her greatest passions, one that he loved watching. Just the simple joy and pleasure she got from her craft. It warmed his soul in a way this dark, horrifying world could not. He shut himself away from that world just so he could be here, to listen and watch. Perhaps that’s how she got a hold of his old wounded heart. Sirens were known for that.

“It’s our anniversary today.” Rex said softly, his heart aching from the chemical reaction that Lily’s music alone had caused in him.

Lily blinked a moment, her eyes narrowed on Rex as the words sank in. Her head jerked to the desk calendar on her desk which held today’s date and nearly slapped herself with her own instrument when she realize what he spoke was true. It only took a moment for her heart to drop from her chest, replaced by the hollowness of guilt taking its place. “No… I-I can’t believe it’s that soon already, is it?”

Her eyes looked at him, pain and sorrow written in her eyes over the mistake she made. Even demons, despite their age, could make human mistake. A fact many of the older ones have often forgotten over their long life, jading them to the essential truth they all had been something weak in the past. She knew Rex wouldn’t have been mistaken about such an important event as she looked at him with an apologetic look.

Rex simply smiled in response. Her forgetting such things wouldn’t make him angry, she couldn’t make him angry anyway. He moved over to her and wrapped his arms around her small frame. At least it was small in comparison to his. “It is that soon…” He said.

Taking a glance at the clock, all studies in the Academy were about to end and recess would begin. “That boring paperwork can wait for another day. I doubt you’d want to spend your anniversary filling out spreadsheets…”

Lily shook her head, “Rex, I can’t. There’s the new musicians who need to be addressed, scheduling a meeting with Hazumi, class reports, death tolls and ensure proper funeral arrangements, and-”

Rex placed a leather padded finger on her lips to stop her. “You’ll kill yourself with that much work on your hands, and doing it all alone. You need rest, darling. Please, do it for your own sake, not for me.”

She smiled, weakly, and nodded her understanding. It was times like this she wished deeply Rex had stayed at the school, merely so she could see him more often without feeling terrible about leaving the Essence unattended. Seeing her husband’s point, she subsided finally when she couldn't recall the last day she took off in nearly a decade. When Rex removed his finger Lily replied softly in a loving voice, “Sometimes I need reminding, but it helps to alleviate the guilt when it’s not just myself that will enjoy it.”

A smile crept on Rex’s muzzle as he leaned his face into hers. Their lips collided, and Lily received a long, heavy kiss that seemed to last for tens of minutes. He kept her close and didn't let go. His kiss soon changed, into one that stole her breath and exchanged it with his. Lily’s body relaxed and melted in Rex’s arms as she returned his affection, holding onto his chest as her nails dug into his fur. This was just a taste of the night awaiting them, and what they would make of it when it came...

Awakening Collab by: Rtron, Synthorian and Wild Wind The first thing she was aware of, as she slowly became conscious, was the cool metal in her hands. The Harp… a voice she wasn’t sure was entirely her own whispered in her mind. It didn’t matter. What did matter was that she was sure it was hers, and she was sure it was right where it was supposed to be. Speaking of herself, who was she? Luciana… that same voice whispered, and as before it felt right. It was who she was. What defined her and shaped her. As she regained more of her senses than just the feeling of cool metal in her hands, she became aware of the fact that she was clothed. That was always nice, she supposed. Being naked and having no idea where you are always tends to lead to conclusions. She thought, before bolting upright into a sitting position, her eyes fluttering behind closed eyelids. What few memories she had were flooding back. Her death primarily stuck out in her mind, and she opened her eyes, glancing about in a distant but nonetheless curious way. It was an odd feeling to know that she was dead, but not dead. She had been alive, but had no memory of that time. Did she leave loved ones behind? Enemies? Had she been a good person or a bad one? Why did she have a harp and know how to play it? Still, she had a couple of questions that just needed to be spoken out loud, even if there was apparently no one in the room with her. “Where are we, and why aren’t we dead?” Solus stood in the shadows of the room. He had noticed her stir and as such, remained here to welcome her to a world that she most likely won’t remember, let alone remember the world before this one. “An interesting question to ask, right after your Awakening…” Solus responded. Luciana snapped her head over to Solus, regarding him for a moment. Chimera. She could tell that instantly, though she didn’t know how. It was another curiosity in a growing list. “We do not find that such an interesting question, Chimera, considering that we distinctly remember dying. And we distinctly do not remember dying here. And we assume that when you say ‘Awakening’ you mean, ‘Resurrection’.” She turned her body to face him, hands almost protectively over her harp, gently petting the one white piece of it. It calmed her, for some reason. “That’s because you killed yourself to save the world. I was there.” He replied. “You’re here because the world is in peril again… I just hope you don’t stupidly kill yourself again.” He said bluntly. Luciana laughed. It wasn’t a mocking sound, she genuinely found what Solus said to be funny. “Chimera, the world does not need saving. The Gatekeepers, Chime and Melody keep the peace between the two and the humans live their lives blissfully unaware of the full extent of Heaven and Hell. We’re flattered that you think we have enough power to save it, but even combined our powers could only barely match a Hellion’s, and we have to use our powers separately. What is the real reason you brought us back from the Void?” She paused, tilting her head at Solus’ shadowy form. “We suppose the term ‘Chimera’ is rude. Our name is Luciana. What is yours?” “I see your memory isn’t fully intact… You killed yourself to shatter what was called the Essence of the World, it provided anyone who held it with the power of a Demigod. The person who wielded it, Judas, used the Essence to destroy Melody 200 years ago. And Chime was killed by the Fleshshaper 3 milleniums ago. There are no such things as Gates anymore.” He moved further into the room, and took a seat on a vacant old chair. “Do you know what year it is right now?” Luciana smiled. “We must say, we’re impressed by your insistence upon the lie. The Essence of the World, Judas and the Fleshshaper.” Her face darkened at the demon’s name, hatred washing over her. She didn’t know why, but the demon Fleshshaper was a foul being, only fit to be killed. “Only one of those is real, and he has no desire to come from his experiments. We do applaud the creativity though. But come now, end the pretense and tell us the real reason you brought us back from the dead.” She shook her head at Solus’s question. “We have never paid attention to the years, only to what was happening at the time. And there will always be Gates, Chimera. For there must always be Balance.” She spoke with a conviction and a belief whose source was as unknown to her as her hatred of the Fleshshaper. “Then I guess all I can do is show you, since you are all so convinced of otherwise when you have been dead for the past 200 years.” He got up off the chair. “First things first. You’re going to met the Essence of the World. And then, I will show you where the Gates used to be. But then again. Aaurus did order me to resurrect you, so perhaps…” He pulled out a black swirling sphere. Luciana could feel the very Void in it. “you might want to speak to him yourself. If I can’t prove it, then he can…” He extended his hand for her to take the sphere from him. Luciana sighed. This was growing to be annoying. All she wanted to know was why she wasn’t dead. “We find this insistence upon a lie less amusing and more irritating now, Chimera. But if you insist, we will play your game.” She shivered in reflex as she looked at the orb in Solus’s hands. She could feel the Void in it, the cold, unfeeling realm of death. Still, she reached for it, taking it from Solus’ hands. Then, blackness surrounded her. She was in the empty Void, floating in a swirling endless darkness. Fear. It was a reflex, a natural reaction to death being all around her. Not even emotional death, with purpose. Just cold, uncaring, oblivion. Still, she managed to gain control over herself after the first few moments of sheer terror. She didn’t know what she was, but she wouldn’t be scared by the Chimera’s parlor tricks. We’re waiting Chimera…. Something hit her foot, a stone, that seemingly appeared out of the dark. More came, and began to form a floor around her. Walls and columns formed, and newly created arched ceilings closed the darkness away. The hall seemed infinite but familiar deep in Luciana’s mind. All she could do, was walk forward. Luciana was uneasy. The hall was unfamiliar to her, yet intimately familiar as well. Hazy half memories drifted, bringing nothing but pain with them. She grabbed her head as white hot bolts of pain shot through her skull, gritting her teeth to avoid screaming. She wouldn’t give the Chimera the pleasure of hearing her scream. So this was it. He was an enemy from her past life, and she had done something so terrible to him that he brought her back from the dead to torture her. Regardless, there was nothing she could do. She hadn’t even taken her harp with her into this dark place. As the pain faded away, she walked forward. It seemed like minutes of walking had passed until she reached a massive set of closed double doors, intricate in their detail. Luciana could feel a very familiar essence beyond. Luciana paused in front of the doors, taking a deep breath. Something terrible is going to be beyond here. We know it. She thought, bracing herself. As she felt the presence beyond, her feeling of uneasiness grew, and more hazy memories surfaced, before she could be crippled with pain again, she pushed open the doors. Beyond, was a throne room, with destroyed pews lining the length of it, and a Black Throne, with a single being sitting on it, sadly staring at it’s own feet. “So even my Avatar could not convince my daughter to behave…” A male booming voice spoke out. Agony. Pure bolts of pain lancing through her skull. The figure, the voice, the throne, all were familiar. She knew she had seen them before, but all that came to mind were hazy, indistinct memories and pain. She fell to her knees, hands gripping her skull as she nearly shattered her teeth keeping a scream in. “We. Are. Not. Aaurus’s. Daughter. We. Are. Not. A. Gatekeeper.” She spoke through gritted teeth, practically spitting each word out, her voice smothered in pain. “Luciana was the Gatekeeper of the Surface. You, Luciana, were created late, when the joining between me and Lucy had occurred.” He lazily raised his hand, and the pain in her skull dulled, but some still remained. “You destroying yourself was… saddening for me. How could my daughter be so foolish… so… ignorant?” The pain faded away, long enough for her to look at the hazy memories. She ignored Aaurus, or whatever it was on the throne. For what felt like ages, she looked at the memories, willing them to make sense. Slowly, ever so slowly, they cleared. She remembered. “We- I remember wars. Deaths. Insanity. Betrayal. I remember failing not once, but twice. I remember doing the best I fucking could with a sinking GODS DAMN SHIP!” She was screaming at Aaurus now. “There you are…” The voice acknowledged his daughter’s return. Luciana ignored him, walking towards the throne. She was angry. As angry as only one who knows that someone could have saved something and only watched it slowly fall apart can be. “How could I be so foolish?! So ignorant?! How could the father and mother sit there and watch as everything they built and tried to keep alive FELL APART AND DIED AROUND THEM!? How could you let Chime die!? Melody die?! The worlds were always meant to be apart and you just let them mix! I was supposed to protect the human race so I did the best I could! There are no more Gates. There are no more Gatekeepers. Humanity was about to enter a dangerous world and I gave them the tools to not only survive in it, but thrive! I did what I thought was necessary when all hope was lost and all hell was about to break loose! If I couldn’t return Balance I would Make balance!” “You have only slowed down their progress… The Essence Abomination was to be destroyed, not adapted. The Gates and their Keepers were a social experiment, that later developed into a genetic one. The destruction of the Gates lead to the creation of Chimeras, who now reign supreme. I have finally succeeded in creating something that can defeat Him.” He stood from his throne, the power of his rise shook the ground below Luciana’s feet. “Balance was restored naturally, without your aid. You have only caused imbalance. That, is why I have judged you as a fool, and ignorant pleb. An unfortunate failure that I have crafted…” Luciana was aware that she was treading on dangerous ground. She was too filled with wrath to care. “Thanks for telling me daddy dearest.” She hissed at him. “I was created to keep the Balance and when I saw the balance falling apart, when the two people who I cared about most in all of the three worlds died, I kind of lost my fucking sanity. So don’t criticize me for doing what I saw as the best course of action, with no guidance from my father.” The word was said with mocking, hateful, sarcasm. “Criticize yourself for not doing anything about it! For not stopping me from slowing down their progress. For not stopping the Fleshshaper from killing Chime and Judas from killing Melody. Everything that happened, whether you like it or not, is your. Fucking. Fault.” “Oh, it is… Because I commanded it. They were destined to die from the start. But you, were not…” He looked at his own hands for a moment before speaking again. “It no longer matters. In 2 Progaian years and 3 days, we all, myself included, will be wiped from existence, by a single being I tried to stop milleniums ago. That is, if Solus, whom I’m sure you now remember, fails…” “Good to know, and why do you need this unfortunate failure to help your perfect little fucking Chimera win this war against what you failed to kill? I’m a failure remember? Why would you bring back an ‘ignorant fool’ to fight against something when you already have something that can defeat Him.” She glared at him for a few more moments, before speaking again. “Just send me back to the fucking Void already. At least Oblivion was quiet.” “He insisted…” Aaurus replied. “And he would not tell me why…” “Bring him here then. So he can tell me.” She retorted, clearly still angry. “No… Go back from whence you came!” He thrusted his arm forward and blasted Luciana out of the Throne Room, and all the way down the Hall until her eyes were blinded by a white light. She awoke in the room from earlier, back in the realm of normalcy. Solus was still sitting where was earlier, and was staring at the floor between his shoes. “Gods fucking dammit!” Luciana screamed as she came back to the real world. She whirled on the Chimera, advancing until she was an inch from him, completely unaware of the tears streaming down her face. She was angry at Aaurus, and Solus was his avatar in this world apparently. What’s more, he was the entire reason she was back from peaceful oblivion. That made him good enough to take her anger out on. “Solus. You have one chance to give me a good reason as to why I should help prevent the world from ending and help that motherfucker.” “We have about 2 years before the world ends. And I can’t save it on my own.” His answer was simple and to the point. “Otherwise, the balance you brought upon the world would have all been for naught, and worthless. There are 10 Billion people out there who like living…” He paused for a moment. “And if we survive this, I’ll help you end Aaurus’ pathetic and miserable life.” “If you think I give a fu-” Luciana’s jaw closed with an audible click. She stared at him for a moment. If he wasn’t lying, this was her chance. Sure, killing the creator of the three worlds would probably be a horrible idea and undo everything they did to save it, but she didn’t care. The Balance was gone, her sister’s were murdered along with the two people directly responsible for their deaths. She didn’t care about smart anymore. She just wanted blood. “If we’re going to do this, you better have a plan. Because right now, you could probably beat me. Only three of my forms survived being resurrected from the Void. The human.” She gestured to herself before she began glowing a bright white light. When it cleared, in her place was her Tamer angel form. “The Surface Tamer Angel.” Her voice was softer, and more lyrical now. Her harp gone, and in it’s place three rings. She began glowing a bright red light, and when that light faded in it’s place was her demon form. “And the Surface Demon.” Her voice wasn’t a singular one, rather, it was composed of many smaller, insectoid ones. With a bright grey flash, she returned to her human form. “So. Why do you need me alive, when Chime and Melody were much more powerful?” “Chime and Melody were lacking in something you have. Your chimeric, and human nature. You were far more powerful than them. They wouldn’t have even been able to destroy the Essence of The World if they tried, like you almost have.” He stood up from his seat and continued. “We have a lot of work to do to you power back.” He said. “After this is all over, I hope you stick around. We could do a lot of good together.” He gave her his hand, hoping she agreed and would shake it. Luciana snorted in disbelief, staring at his hand for a moment. She took it. “We’ll see if I stay around. Good is far from my list of ‘things to worry about’. I hope you have a great plan for getting my power back, because last I remember, it was spread across the human race so they don’t get torn apart and enslaved by the Demons and Angels.” “They have come a long way in 200 years. They have the weapons to wipe them out without your power, thanks to the intervention of the Essence and the Peacekeepers. Don’t worry about them.” He let go of her hand. “And as far as you getting powers back, I have just the thing in mind.” “Good.” She hadn’t stopped caring about the human race. Hard to do that when your entire, very long, life had been dedicated to making sure they weren’t annihilated. She tilted her head at him for a moment. “And what, exactly, would that be?” “Solid Static Essence, also known as Alerium. It’s what Aaurus is made of. When he created all of this, he used a piece of himself to forge the worlds. Because of that, it has become a natural resource that is very rare and difficult to find.” The Chimera explained. “And you know where some is. And how is it supposed to help me?” Luciana was clearly skeptical of the entire situation. But hey, it could help her get her powers back, and more importantly, kill Aaurus. “Alerium is the building block of the soul. With the new essence it will give, you will regain your powers. Anyway, I suggest we-” Solus was interrupted by his senses when he noticed someone, standing in the doorway. Zi's hair was a tangled and she looked like she just woke up but her eyes were wide open and she blinked in confusion, looking at Luciana. “It worked?” She asked disbelieving. Then she remembered her manners and shook her head to clear it. “I mean, hi. I'm glad you're alive again.” “That makes two of us who are glad I’m alive, and three of us who are surprised it worked.” Luciana said with a small smile, wiping her face in an attempt to make herself look less of a mess.. “Hello. Judging from how your Essence feels, you must be the piece of Hazumi that broke free. I’m Luciana, though you already know that. What’s your name?” “Zi.” She admitted, feeling stupid. “The piece of Hazumi” was all she would ever be and her name only confirmed it. Her eyes darted between the Legend and the Demigod and she felt like she was literally shrinking. What was she doing here? Her place wasn’t here, it was back there, in that apartment, in those arms, being shot at, being hugged. “Um..” She looked at Solus. “I was wondering if you could call me a taxi. I’d like to go home now.” She asked bluntly and feeling even more silly for her lack of social grace. Solus thought for a moment. Letting someone out into the world who knew that Luciana had returned was probably a bad idea. But then again, he couldn’t keep her here. “My phone is on the desk over there.” He pointed to the far end of the room, where a smartphone was lying on a table. “Oh but..” She got the phone and fidgeted with it. “... what is your address?” “Well… there is no address. You will just have to walk down the mountain to Thorpe, which does have an address.” He smiled, but he was totally serious. Zi’s arm dropped disappointedly, even though she had somewhat expected it. She would have to fly down, no matter how tired she was and that was always a challenge. With a sigh she dialed the number and asked for a taxi in half an hour.
Damn these narrow hallways! Rex Volt thought to himself as he traversed the halls of the Academy, his shoulders rubbing along the walls, and the tip of his cranium and ears scraping the ceiling. Being a massive beast had its disadvantages, but the perks far outweighed the cons. So putting up with small hallways and struggling through small doors was a bearable annoyance. Somewhere, and somehow, he managed to obtain a tailored tuxedo for the festivities. He looked as sharp as his claws. Though he wondered if all the shoulder bumping with the environment would wear out the seams. He wanted to look the part, and impress a special someone that was attending today. Finally he had arrived at the double doors that lead into the Ballroom. Luckily they were large enough for him go through without problems, he just had to kneel down a little. He palmed open the door and shimmied in. If anyone was paying attention, it would a comical display of an 11 foot tall Wolf Beast squatting down and moving into the room like a crab. First to spot him was Lily Quarin. And she was actually behind him, returning to the ball room after speaking to a few people about what to do with the “guest of honour”. The principal smiled at the nicely tailored suit, appreciating Rex' effort and gave him a gentle push to ease his passage through the door. “If I'd have known you'd be part of our staff, I'd have asked the ceiling to be higher.” Not having noticed Lily stalking behind him, Rex was slightly startled by the gentle nudge, and hit his head on the doorframe. A small whine escaped through his gritted teeth. “Oh, hey there!” He said awkwardly, a little embarrassed. Now inside the high ceilings of the Ballroom, he stood up straight and turned around to face the Principle. “Well, I’m... kind of used to it.” Noticing her formal dress he said. “You look stunning.” He leaned in close with his jaws right next to her right ear. “Just like you always do.” “So do you.” She smiled, giving him an affectionate peck on the cheek. “I'm impressed with your costume and really happy you came in late. Ten minutes late makes all the difference between it staying spotless or being ruined.” Volt raised a brow. “Something happened?” “Solus Grim arrived and had a show off with the Essence.” From her mouth, the word was less a title and more a subjective. “They just had to demonstrate how barbaric they both were. Luckily nobody else got involved so my hope is the students will soon forget. “Hmm…” Rex placed a gentle paw on Lily’s shoulder and pulled her a little closer. “Solus did want to destroy her, but Luciana gave him an alternative. One that he didn’t really like.” Lily nodded grimly but smiled at his touch, despite herself. “He made that pretty obvious. I just hope they don’t go after each other in the future - they’re both legends and it won’t be good for our school to be the place where the illusion is broken.” “Illusion are always broken eventually… But anyway. Let’s enjoy the party shall we? We left all the bad things of the world outside. Better not to think about them and let them in, hmm?” Lily smiled and followed Rex back to the ball-room. A gentle melody was playing in the background of students chattering and she took Rex’ paw in her hand, smiling as he understood her intention and moved his other paw around her waist. He smiled back and spun her around and they both started dancing gracefully in the center of the ball room.
Don't wait for me. It will take forever at this rate. Me holding everybody back is bad. So please, start the IC for these fine fellows.
Hey ArkLoH. I just looked over your CS, and noticed that your Demon is from the Western Realm. The Western Realm is sort of a prison, only inhabited by the Nightwalkers. I would recommend that your Demon hails from the South, or perhaps even the North. --- Added Rex Volt's CS to Characters.
Name: Rex Volt Alias/Nickname: Surprisingly as an oversized Wolf Beast, he actually doesn’t have one Age: It’s impossible tell any sort of apparent age. But his actual age is somewhere in the three hundreds. He lost count a long time ago. So he actually doesn’t know exactly how old he is. Race: Chimeric Wolf Beast. Wolf Beasts, or simply known as Beasts, are a breed of Werewolves that are much larger and physically stronger than the classic Werewolf. Ranging between 10 to 12 feet tall when standing up right, these beasts naturally match Ascended Werewolves in natural strength, and at times are even superior to them. They are often seen as the Alpha Werewolves, due to their size and strength. Chimeric Wolf Beasts are naturally born, where one parent is some sort of Chimera, and the other, either a Werewolf or a Wolf Beast. Chimeric Wolf Beasts show an aptitude in intelligence, that natural Wolf Beasts seem to lack, and in some cases, spellcasting potential, which is normally inherited from the Chimeric parent, as well as their the demonic and angelic genes. Appearance: Rex is an 10 foot 3 inch tall walking fuzzball tank, with big teeth and claws that could a demon in half. That pretty much speaks for itself. He also weighs approximately 680lb, due to the density of his musculature and general body weight. His fur is entirely black, and has nice natural sheen to it, easily reflecting light. A large bullet hole like scar is visible on the right side of his forehead, where he took a 20mm round to the head, and survived. His hands, or paws, are large enough to grab of a person’s lower torso, and pick them up with said single paw. His clothing normally consists of tailor made black BDUs, and a specially made Kevlar armour, that was made to fit his unnaturally wide shoulders and upper torso. Social Status: His social status isn’t really anything amazing. He’s a veteran of the previous War. He served under Solus Grim, the legendary bounty hunter turned temporary General when he assemble 120 Chimeras to punch through Judas’ final defence, a wall of Gatekillers. It’s a good addition to his resume, but he doesn’t really feel like it’s anything special. Relations: Lily Quarin. Let’s just say Rex and the Principal have a thing going on. General Activity: Rex is the Chief of Security at the Academy. He keeps track of all the security personnel and anything regarding the Academy’s safety. He also provides capable students who have proven to be able to look after themselves, with active missions, usually involving hunting down Judas’ fanatics. Abilities: As a Wolf Beast, his main ability would most likely be his muscular strength, whether it’s throwing cars or bitch slapping demons into oblivion. His sheer strength is frightening. His mother, a Nephilim, had the soul of a miracle angel within her. Her powers have been genetically transferred to him. Whether it’s performing magic tricks or making himself disappear, he can pull it off. His demonic abilities, or battle prowess, come from his Qun genes. The Qun are northern demons that directly hail from Mephisto’s blood line. They are the elite of the Northern Realm armies, and their battle prowess is unmatched. Equipment: His teeth and his claws. Other than that though…
Personality: Will show IC. Biography: [[REDACTED]] (Will be revealed as the IC progresses.)
I like your rules Synth and I think Yosh and you made it good. I have only one suggestion. Can kicked players make a return after 14 days go by and restart with a promise to do better ? It is only my idea.
Death Count
Unfortunately not. I mean, if you keep up with the rules, the time limit, and don't hang anybody up. You will be fine. People who will actually get these infraction are usually individuals who will be wasting everybody's time anyway. I have seen enough false promises to fall for them again. So no, they can't come back after 14 days. Maybe at a much later date.
Perhaps you might wish to include a leave of absence clause more specifically for players who got caught unawares by life. As the rules seem to only be talking about foreseeable absences. Just a thought.
Themerlinhawk
You seem to be assuming the second rule only covers future incidents that you, as the player, know about. No, it covers both things. If something suddenly happens today that will impede you from posting completely, it's not that hard to tell us today, or tomorrow, or the day after.
Most of the rules are reasonable, I guess, though I have a question: can the infractions be mended? In other words, taken away if they stick to the pace? Like you have 2 infractions but for an x amount of time, you've managed to keep up what you said you would do then could the infractions reset or one be taken away?
Fallenreaper
Me and Yosh haven't covered that part yet. But we are flexible. Like you suggested, if a player keeps up with the 14 day limit for an extended period of time, then perhaps 1 infraction could be removed, say, after 2 months, and then another after another 2 months, or something like that.
SERIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT
Ok so, this is a real talk about some changes that me and Yosh are going to make. Basically some rules for posting in this RP to make sure that we have a stable pace and so that the RP picks up some speed. So let's cut the shit. Synthorian proceeds to cut the shit. --- Alright, so here's the deal. The following is a set of rules we want to propose to you before we set them in stone. We are a community, so Yosh and I want you guys to give us some feedback, whether you approve or don't approve of one or several rules, have suggestions of your own, or any questions about said proposed rules. Here goes nothing...
  • There will be a 14 day time limit on collabs based in the present time IC and singleplayer posts, also based in present time IC. Which resets every time a post is produced in the IC, which also applies to collab contributers, whether they play NPCs or PCs.
  • Players must warn the GMs, as well as fellow collaborators, if they will be unable to contribute to both collabs and singleplayer posts for more than the allocated time limit for whatever reason, in order to prevent hanging up other players so that they may continue. Doing so will make the collab or singleplayer post a viable canon flashback, that can be posted when the player returns, or at a later date should the player or players wish to do so. PLEASE DO THIS IN ANY WAY YOU CAN IF YOU HAVE NO ACCESS TO A PC, OTHERWISE THE RULE BELOW WILL APPLY.
  • Players who do not warn us, or have a post ready before the 14 day time limit is expired, will have a 3 day grace period (3 extra days) to post their collab, or singleplayer post. If no post is produced in the IC within that time, they will recieve an Infraction.
  • A player may receive a maximum of 3 Infractions. After 2 Infraction, the offending player will lose the right to a 3 day grace period. On the 3rd Infraction, the player is kicked. Holding up other players from posting will not be tolerated.
  • If a collab is being held up by the offending player (who obtained an infraction or has been kicked for 3 infractions), the GMs will ask if the collaborators are willing to take over the offending/kicked player's character, if not, the GMs will.
  • When warning the GMs of a player absence, only the player him/herself must speak for themselves. NO ONE ELSE can speak for them. Their absence, and the explanations for them, are THEIR responsibility.
  • In order to be able to enforce the 14 day rule effectively, please send the GMs the links to the collabs that are taking place in present time. This will help the GMs keep track of the progress of the collabs, as well as who is taking part, and who is slowing everyone else down. Future based collabs, flashbacks and singleplayer posts may be kept private from the GMs.
  • The GMs are NOT under exception of these rules. They must follow said rules to the letter, failure to do so will result in the removal of their position.
--- Well I think that covers it. Like I said previously, please shoot any questions or suggestions our way. Thank you for reading.
Name: Solus Grim Alias/Nickname: Nekro Age: His age is difficult to tell based on his appearance, so he has no truly apparent age. And he doesn't reveal his age either... Race: First Generation Chimera Appearance:
Solus Grim is indeed a strange fellow when it comes to looks. He constantly claims that he is human and yet he looks more demonic than most Demons, who prefer to select a more human form so they can blend in among the humans. His body for the most part is humanoid in nature, close enough to be human, yet his face, or his facial disfigurement, is what makes him stand out from the crowd, so to speak. People like to refer to his facial appearance as that of “The Void Guide” himself, a mystical godly figure usually transcribed in religious texts. Though only as a reference for his difficult to describe facial features in a more simple manner. His face consists of sunken in hardened flesh that has an almost rock like texture and strength yet the flexibility of human flesh. It’s structure reveals the man’s skeletal frame of the skull around the eyes and nasal cavity. He has no actual lips, but ones that appear to have been crudely cut out with a blade, creating a zigzag-esque line from one side of the face to the other. But even that is not the most interesting part about it. Green flames burn out of his eye sockets, nasal cavity and mouth almost all the time. The flames themselves are harmless to the touch. His upper torso also has similar mutations, from the chin and down to where his abdominals begin, and down his arms until reaching the elbows. His flesh retains the similar rock like texture in that area, which also seems to act as natural dermal armour, protecting the vital organs while the limbs were ignored during the evolutionary process. The rest of his body retains natural human skin, perhaps the original flesh prior to his physical changes. The man has a muscular, well-toned frame built for combat and punishment. His skin has a strange colour of ash grey. His right shoulder, is etched with a large glyphic tattoo from the collar bone down to half way down the bicep, that seems to emanate magical energies, only detectable by those with a keener and savvier eye of those with expertise in the Arcane. The man also towers at a tall 6 foot 2 inches. He also has a set of large black wings that appear to be reminiscent of a Falcon, which he can hide inside his body at will. These wings have a total span of 22 feet. Enormous in comparison to the wings of even the largest spans that Angels wield. His attire makes him stand out even more. He is always dressed in black, wherever he goes. And it’s always in a stylish black leather trench coat covered in more buckles and belts than a gimp outfit of a BDSM club patron, to the point where it looks like a very expensive strait-jacket. Whether it’s for weapon concealment or style is unknown, perhaps it’s for both. After all, an infamous hunter like him needs to look both intimidating and badass at the same time or just outright silly and impractical in some people’s eyes. Though little do those people know that that jacket is layered in thin Kevlar. Underneath that, he wears a light Kevlar vest that can be easily concealed, even under a tailored tuxedo, to protect his vitals even more. The trench coat can’t stop everything, so that additional layer only adds to Solus’ sense of physical security. And below that all is a simple BDU t-shirt. Finally, adding to the outfit, a pair of baggy leather combat pants and steel toed combat boots to match. Social Status: Solus’ true affiliation to any faction is truly unknown despite his infamy. 180 years ago, among Angels he was seen as a dangerous anarchist and terrorist, while Demons across Hell saw him as a powerful mortal who proved not only his mettle, but the true potential of Chimeric kind in a duel to the death against the now deceased Demon Lord of the North, Mephistopheles. Humans on the other hand, have barely heard of him. Those who have only know the story of how he singlehandedly defeated Mephisto, and before his disappearance, was one of the heroes who killed Judas, but even those legends are convoluted and blurred in the histories. Now-a-days, he's a myth, who disappeared after Judas' death, never to be seen again. Relations: It has been 180 years, all of his former contacts are most likely dead. General Activity: People once believed that Solus Grim intended to banish both the Angels and Demons from the Surface world, and his actual reasons, motivations and goals are still unknown to this day. And what he has been doing for the past 180 years is yet another mystery. Abilities: Solus is both an incredibly powerful Necromancer and Blood Mage by trade. His Necromantic abilities revolve around manipulating the dead, death, and the essence of the dead. Solus can also communicate with the deceased on some simple level – by taking what is left of their essence and containing it in a storage unit, and partial mixing that essence with his for a temporary amount of time – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge. Many practitioners find a way to cheat Death one way or other, whether by becoming some form of undead creature or by bypassing their own ability to die. Solus on the other hand, uses this ability to create monsters, raising the dead and twisting, changing the corpses into horrifying monsters that are bound to his will (The twisting and changing of the body requires a dash of blood magic). The monsters range in shape and strength based on the essence that was collected, the weaker the essence, the weaker the monster, and vice versa. Zombies are the easiest to raise and do not even require blood magic. Solus’ Blood Magic abilities revolve around his own blood and the blood other living things. Blood is important in magic because it represents life force at its most basic nature. By capturing the evaporating essence of a dying body, Solus can dramatically improve the energy of his spells by linking them to the mana of the body. This augmented energy allows the spell to be more powerful but it is also more demanding on him, since he must control the fabrics of the spell and tie it simultaneously to the mana of the dying Soul. An important component of Blood Magic is the essence in the results it can produce. The sacrifice can't carry more power that the essence it allows it to carry. In context, the essence makes the magic happen, if the essence is weak, it will barely help in the casting of the spell, with more energy needed to be of some use. If the essence is strong, it will produce a more powerful and volatile spell than anticipated, with less energy required. Solus usually sacrifices his own blood to enhance his offensive spells, slowly weakening himself with each spell he casts. He does not use blood magic for conjuring or for rituals, but simply as a fuel. A fuel that kindles magic his essence simply cannot cast on its own, such as standard Arcane spells, or temporarily enhancing his own weapons, or drain the life force of others to heal himself in battle. There are 4 different levels of power of such spells. Minor, Medium, Major, and Sacrificial. Minor, Medium, and Major are as their name states. They feed on the amount of life force based on their name, taking a certain amount of energy from the caster in order to cast a spell of destructive or defensive equal to the amount of energy consumed. Minor spells need little life force, Medium spells need a decent amount of life force, Mayor spells need a considerable amount of life force. Sacrificial blood magic requires a death of a living creature to cast. Where an Arcane spell would need 12 mages and a powerful pylon to cast it, Blood Magic could cast that same spell with a single sacrifice. Solus is mostly against sacrificial spells using innocents as fuel, but he does use them with the life force of his dead foes as a method of gaining a vast advantage in a fight against a large wave of enemies. Solus also has Angelic and Demonic powers. His Angelic abilities appear to be that of a powerful battle angel, which are his great physical strength, seemingly endless endurance and fast regeneration, no matter the wound. While his demonic abilities are limited to not necessarily a power, but a physical mutation. At will he can spew a black tar like substance from every hole in his body, and shadowy tendrils appear from his back. This substance is a highly infectious demonic disease that mutates humans, angels and demons alike into seeming brainless, shambling monsters that spread this disease by drowning their victims by puking the same substance down their throats. Solus rarely, very rarely, ever uses this... ability. Mostly due to moral concerns. Equipment: Please take note that Solus CANNOT bring all this gear with him. He will have to pick and choose items out of his arsenal based on their weight and how much he can carry without losing his agility and mobility.
Personality: He is a man who lives his life on the edge, and cocky with an ego the size of the Sun. But he has the skill to justify his egotistical nature and his undefeated and unchallenged streak as one of the most infamous and successful Demon Hunters in the world, both in Hell and the Surface alike. Though his ego only truly surfaces on the battlefield, where he will be throwing sarcastic and insulting remarks at any opponents with half a brain to both understand and get offended by them, with the sole purpose to piss them off just enough for them to start making fatal mistakes. Most of the time however, he tries to maintain a stoic, fearless and professional image when conducting business. Whether it’s obtaining new contracts, getting to know new contacts, or simply purchasing equipment from his black market acquaintances. The chimeric man is strong willed and a bit of a workaholic. When he sets his burning eyes on a goal, he will reach it, even if he loses a limb or two. And he almost seemingly lacks any idea of fear, like the emotion was just, carved out of his brain. Of course there are things that he fears, but he has seen so much horror in his life that very few things faze him. It just takes the right touch to get under his skin. He is also very wise. Ask him anything, no seriously, ANYTHING. He knows the answer. Biography: Solus only became well known 202 years prior, when he traveled beyond the Gates of Hell and into the Northern Realm with the intention of slaying the Demon Lord of Pride and War, Mephistopheles. It’s a matter of asking any demon who hails from the North, they will tell you the tale word for word. But those who know it better, are Mephisto’s former advisors, who witnessed the battle between the two with their own eyes. Solus ventured into Hell with a party of three other necromancers like himself, each possessed with an essence of a hellion. Of course, the smell of human flesh in a place like Hell tends to attract a lot of unsavoury characters. The humans forced to battle the way through to Mephisto, though they have only scratched the surface of his vast armies. By the time Solus reached Mephisto, all of his party members had died. Though Solus only reached Mephisto by getting himself captured, and was granted an audience with the Demon Lord. Knowing Mephisto's honourable warrior nature, Solus asked for the Right of Challenge, a right given to any warrior to challenge the Demon Lord (whichever one is currently ruling) in a battle to the death, a tradition within Mephisto's realm. While the other Hellions who witnessed Solus spout the Right verbally protested against it, Mephisto stood up, and scanned the human from head to toe with his eyes, then, to his minions' disbelief, requested that they returned the human's weapons, and that he accepted the challenge. The fight between the two lasted for hours; they tirelessly and relentlessly engaged each other in combat and exchanged powerful blows while Mephisto's minions watched. After several hours of brutal battle, the two were covered in eachother's blood, and both severely wounded, it was when they both briefly stopped fighting just to catch some air when Mephisto said, "Join me, Necromaster. Join me and I could give you the Surface World, Immortality, anything you desire. You have more that proven your power to me. Join me, and we can rule the Three Worlds together!" Solus didn't even answer, but raised his sword for another blow, while Mephisto froze in shock, bewildered that Solus hasn't even bothered to consider his offer. Solus smashed his blade against the top of Mephisto's head, splitting it in two, slaying Mephisto right in front of his advisors and minions. The witnessing Hellions didn't even try to stop Solus as he didn't say a single word, and simply left the ruined Throne Room. News of Mephisto's death spread faster than a forest fire, before Solus could even reach the Hell Gate, still clutching his wounds, the entirety of Hell, and even most of the Surface World has heard of Mephisto's demise. It was 20 years later when he gained more infamy when he and a group of other individuals grinded Judas' paranoid campaign to a staggering halt. It is unknown who delivered the killing blow that killed Judas' spirit, though it is believed by many to have been Solus himself. He vanished soon after that, and hasn't been seen for 180 years...
