Lillith hid at the bottom of the lake, feeling the water movement as he swam about above her. The water wasn't incredibly deep here, but the murkiness reduced visibility to zero after only a couple of feet. She was still in bat form, and would take full advantage of that. She flapped her wings and shot through the water as though she were flying, brushing against his leg for just a moment before zipping away and diving deeper again. She'd have to come up for breath eventually, but she could do this for hours -- or until she got bored and switched to something else.
"That's the hope," she responded casually. She slipped out of her dress and carefully folded it up. She bent over to get it situated cleanly on top of the basket, giving Lock a view he would be extra appreciative of, given that she hadn't had any undergarments on under her clothes. Spiderweb stockings were just as meticulously removed and placed within her shoes.

She gave him a wink as she shifted into a bat and flew past him to dive into the water.
Lillith almost snorted when she saw the label. Almost. "I think we're the only two monsters in Halloween Town who get the joke," she chuckled.

She kissed him, then set the bottle aside and stood up. "Shall we go for a swim?" She winked. "Rinse off my other perfume..."
Lillith chuckled and took the gift with a smirk. "You, I actually enjoy. I'll happily accept payment for putting up with your siblings, though."

She passed him the little silver box she'd brought. "And you can consider this payment for having to put up with our sisters, together."

She let him open his gift first. Inside was a polished vampire fang. There was a crack that ran partway down the center, and one root was missing, but Lillith had found someone to expertly run melted silver into the crack and mold a replacement root from the shiny metal. The tooth had then been sliced across the middle and had an earring stud embedded on the inside, so the fang could be worn in such a way it would look like the wearer had been pierced by the fang itself.
Lillith helped him set out the food and dishes. She didn't particularly care about the quality or state of the dishes, but she did make sure the utensils were placed properly in the arrangement. Something just felt wrong, if she wasn't eating salad and steak with different forks, and having them placed according to the correct system was just part of that.

As they ate, she chattered on about nothing in particular. There was plenty of heavy stuff to talk or think about, but for the moment she wanted to avoid those, and just enjoy the date.
Lillith likewise leaned against him. She slowly relaxed and let the little silver box fall quietly from her hand onto the ground. She continued petting his hair.

"I said I can replace it, so obviously, I'm not going to tell you." She winked at him. "Shall we set out the meal?"
Lillith took his hand and led him silently back to where he'd set the basket. She sat down on the ground and made an inviting motion for him to sit in her lap if he wanted to.

"I'm... I'm angry, but I'll... get over it." She sighed. "Carmilla's revenge for us skipping band practice was to... significantly damage one of the gifts I got for you. I didn't notice until I pulled it out of hiding to come here."

She growled quietly under her breath, then ran her fingers through his hair to help calm herself. "It's... It's not even the gift itself. I can replace that. She just... She spent a whole week winding me up, trying to predict what she was going to do to me. Then we found out our instruments..."

She tightened her fist around the little box. "I thought that was what she had been building up to. I relaxed. I was glad to just have it over with. We had a good week, a good practice... And then this."

When Lock reached the clearing, Lillith wasn't there yet. Fifteen minutes after the scheduled meeting time, she still hadn't arrived. Just as he was about to go looking for her, she stepped out of the trees. The vampiress was carrying a small silver object in one hand. She had put a lot of work into smoothing her facial features to form a mask of polite decorum, but Lock knew her well enough to recognize the small signs that she was upset and a angry.
"Hey! Come back here!" Phoebus bent forward to catch the little rascal, but his arms closed around empty air. Holy Mother, he's fast... The soldier quickly turned on his heel to chase after Barrel. He saw Esmeralda chase after a boy in red with a fire poker in hand, but stuck after his own quarry rather than trying to assist her. Luckily, both children were headed in the same direction: the front door. The boys reached the door at the same time, both adults right behind them.

Pierre was busy pondering his "memories" of "Cynthia's" christening when a purple triangle dropped onto the table he was sitting at. He stared in drunken bemusement as other patrons tried to grab the little... witch? ...Then stood with a holler as he realized Esmeralda's daughter was about to go through the same misfortune her mother had, and at a much younger age. Even the Madame was chasing after her, the voluptuous harlot! He stumbled awkwardly in pursuit, slurring something about "pprotectoring the youthful innonence!"

Phoebus, seeing the strange, probably evil shadows -- WAS THAT A SKELETON?? He drew his sword and quickly shoved the boys behind himself. The motion drew his attention to Shock, who had reached the group and turned to run off somewhere else. He quickly grabbed her by the collar of her dress and pull her back to her brothers, but the sound of a firearm snatched his attention away from her, allowing her to easily squirm away.

Pierre, seeing that both he and Esmeralda were distracted by some hooligans in black, decided to be the sort of hero that requires absolutely no courage, and followed after Shock so he could herd her back like a lost sheep to its flock, and thereby gain all the admiration and appreciation a doting parent with a stable paying job and position of authority had to offer.

The captain managed to catch sight of the shooter just as the second shot went off. He almost let the man get away with using a weapon inside the city, given the demonic creatures he was aiming at, but then Gaston swung the gun up toward a rooftop. What was he aiming--

"NO!" he shouted, diving toward the handsome brute just in time to pull the barrel away from his target.
