"Plans can never go wrong if you don't make them in the first place."
Selene is the daughter of Circe. Born for the sole purpose of fulfilling a prophecy; one that would enslave the Amazons of Themyscira into the servitude of Circe, Hecate, and Nyx. Obviously these plans failed drastically, but were the catalyst for Diana leaving the her home and eventually taking the mantle of Wonder Woman a short time later.
Left with a demi-god baby, Diana did what she considered best at the time; she called upon the gods to diminish Selene's abilities so as to allow her to live a normal life with an adoptive family in New Hampshire. It worked for a time, but the trace amounts of gods blood in Selene stopped being dormant after reaching adolescence. In a matter of months the Windle's small New England town was hit with a devastating blight to crops, multiple reports of troubled dreams or visions, and a shocking number of small pets running off into the wood at night and never returning.
Selene was very quickly and quietly whisked away by Diana. But her innate magic was unusual even for the experienced members of the justice league, not to mention the fear of the half-filled prophecy made all weary at the idea of really training Selene. Begrudgingly she was taught to focus her will into some weak magic, first as a means to control her powers; preventing any similar incidents to those in her hometown. This has left Selene with scant knowledge of her own power, but a great thirst for more.
Sorceress of Hecate: Being the grand-daughter of the goddess of magic means Selene possesses an innate talent for magic. As such, she doesn't typically require the same level of sacrifice called upon most magicians. That isn't to say it is without its difficulties, her magic draws upon a combination of will, emotion, and energy. Its a complex process which takes a great deal of training to learn, of which Selene has next to none. She can preform only a few spells with any reliability; flight, and energy projection as a barrier and projectile weapon.
Demi-God Physiology: Technically, Selene should have the durability and strength of most of the other Greek demi-gods. The bulk of her power was mostly stripped away when she was a child, but she is coming into it as an adolescent.

Like most adolescent heroes, Selene's story is all about finding a sense of purpose and belonging. For the long term, she will be discovering her own abilities and her place in the world. While she's a moral character, she is fascinated with her own capacity for power to a degree that those with knowledge of her heritage find unsettling. As for more direct and immediate goals, Selene is looking for a way to gain possession of her mother's grimoire. A text that could help her unlock and learn her powers, but has been under lock and key of first Diana Prince then the Justice League itself after its founding.
C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:
Lacking any creativity of my own, Selene is a Frankenstein combination of young comic-hero tropes I like to play with. While I hope to work on some dc magic lore alongside other magic-based characters I'm also interested to explore the specifics of alien-god magic in a Marvel/DC universe. I hope to incorporate aspects of Marvel's Olympians into the well-established DC Greek Mythos.
Her powers for the time being are limited, but will hopefully grow as time goes on. While she's a demi-god I want to build up to her gaining any sort of world-changing powers, if she does at all in the course of this roleplay. She's going to have to find ways to learn to use her magic throughout the story, though I am happy to discuss and limitations as I realize how vague that is.
Notably as of yet she does not have contact with her mother. While she knows Diana used the magic of Circe's grimoire to keep her imprisoned on Aeaea since her last attempt to conquer the Amazons, she has made no effort to discover more. She has no kinship with or interest in her mother beyond learning more about her magic. The Windle's are her adopted family that she was forced to leave once coming into her powers, and while they still keep in contact their lives have since become entirely separate.
