Torvi’s take down of the clone was far too easy for her liking. Battle should be much more of a challenge if you asked her. How it had disappeared, though, had her quite curious as to what was going on. Was all this merely an illusion? She glanced around at the other clones as her companions attacked them, but something else quickly caught her attention as Ayita sent a gust of air through the blue mist. She silently took note of the other humans' magic as her eyes locked on to Maneru. He seemingly had the pink haired fairy girl, but Torvi wasn’t too quick to believe it was real. If she were right on her theory of things being an illusion then this could also be an illusion. They needed to find out for sure, however, and she quickly tried to take note of where the two were as the blue mist closed once more.

Torvi closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath as she reached out with her magic. She could feel particles of earth all around them, especially within the water, and she began to call them to her. Once she had a sufficient amount under her control, she glanced back at the other human woman. “Ayita can you do that again with clearing the mist?” She asked the woman, but as she asked she sent her gathered earth heading towards the direction of Maneru, keeping it hidden underneath the water. She had confidence she remembered where the man and the fairy were, but she awaited visual on them again and that’s when she would strike. She’d send her earth to wrap around the man and then yank him swiftly back in the group's direction, thus bringing the fight to them.

Elsea hugged Cora back tightly, her heart aching for her friend as she’d seen tears streaming down her face. Whatever the girl had seen had been rough on her, that was quite evident. She was relieved the fire was completely out now, but knew there had been some damage done as she glanced at the injured deer. She would have to consult the gods later and ask for a speedy recovery to the forest.

Cora began asking questions quickly and Elsea had almost forgotten how she’d looked, but at the question if she were okay it was like it triggered the pain of the cut on her hand. ”Oh aye, I’m alright. I just had to make a blood offering to the gods to help me through my illusion.” How she said this was as if this was something normal to do, not even thinking twice about how it could be abnormal as she tore part of her dress and wrapped it around her injury. ”Cade is quite alright too. Come.” She said as she glanced back at the large cat man and began heading towards him, but not before she noted the sparks crackling around Cora’s wrists and the flames from her footsteps. What had truly happened to the girl? She’d have to ask her later about it.

Cade then asked her about Ayita and Elsea tried to give him a reassuring smile. ”I believe that was likely an illusion too. When you were calling for us to follow I didn’t see anyone there and so that leads me to believe that it was all part of the illusion the creature was feeding you. There is a chance that Ayita is fine and you will see her again at the port. Don’t lose hope, my friend.” She said as she gently patted him on the back before glancing at the campfire and making sure that was completely out. ”I believe we’re all ready to go, lead the way and we’ll follow.” She said as they began moving, motioning for Cora to go ahead of her. Elsea brought up the rear, but stuck close to the woman just to make sure she was going to be alright. She’d seemed really shaken and it was concerning to Elsea.

The conversation between Bowyn and Elthrael spoke enough volumes to the idea that he felt the same distrust of the fairy that Kenia was feeling. Bowyn voiced Kenia’s very concerns about not knowing where Elthrael’s intentions lied. Vaeril was ahead of them, voicing that he’d like to be left behind. Considering Kenia did not trust him much either, this was positive news. Darius seemed aligned with the drunken man, so she supposed he’d join him. She didn't even acknowledge the elven man any more than a wave to show she had no qualms leaving him behind. She decided remaining with the two fairies of grey intentions would be a waste of time.

Bowyn’s words of revenge against Aklenroth seemed to come out of sincerity and Kenia trusted him. She turned to him, whispering to him to suggest a plan and hoped he'd be okay going along with her. She knew others would likely be suspicious, but she truly didn't care. This group was a disaster and it was time to fix that.

Elsea had to keep her wits about her. Whoever was messing with them could easily turn them on each other and she surely didn't want that. It seemed like that's what he was trying to do too, as Cade appeared once more with that gleeful grin. She didn't attack, though, as she had to be sure it wasn't a trick. Before she could say anything, however, the gleeful grin vanished and she soon realized they were surrounded by fire. This wasn't her doing, she thought as she quickly looked at her small bit of flames and extinguished them. She then looked back at Cade as he spoke. Was this still an illusion or was this real? She debated for a moment on what to do, but then made a decision. "I believe you Cade." Was this the truth? Not entirely, no. As Umber had pointed out, Elsea didn't truly trust anyone, but until she knew whether or not this was an illusion she'd at very least go along with helping those she'd allied herself with and that required her believing her allies words for now. She'd keep alert, however, just to be safe.

She then turned back to the flames as Cade asked if it was in her powers to help get the fire under control. She saw Cora still fighting whatever demon she saw and sighed before reaching out with her power. She could feel the difference between Cora's flames, something she could not control, and the flames that had spread from the woman's magic and weren't being controlled by anyone. Those were the ones she reached out to and tried to get under control. They were like a bunch of toddlers running around, not wanting to take their naps. It took some focus and quite a bit of energy, but Elsea did eventually wrangle in the flames and put them out. "I've put out what I could take control of and I'm doing my best to keep them at bay, but we need to snap her out of this and get her to put out the rest of the flames." She said as she glanced back at Cade briefly, but then she began to move. She headed straight for Corvina, walking through her fire and tymrying to focus on keeping her clothes from burning. Some still got singed, but at least she still was clothed.

"Cora! You need to snap out of it! Something is playing with your mind, there's nothing there! You need to put your fire out otherwise you're going to burn down the whole forest and alert others to our location!" She slowly moved closer and closer to the girl until she was close enough to touch her. "Please Cora. Whatever it is can't hurt you anymore. I'm here with you and so is Cade, we'll help protect you." Her words were gentle and kind as she slowly reached out and touched Cora's shoulder, preparing for the worst.

As blackness enveloped her, Elsea couldn't stop the sudden sense of panic. Her heart pounded in her chest as she tried to work out what was happening. She tried to keep a brave face, however, and stand tall. As the townsfolk appeared she was shocked at first, but then stared back in defiance. She began shaking her head as Umber spoke, but she knew he was right. She didn't trust anyone, not fully at least. People were selfish, this she knew because she was selfish herself. She'd used people since she got here to Avalia. She had used Elthrael that first night in order to feel good about herself. She spun some sob story about how she owed him for saving her, but the truth was she didn't really care about that. She hadn't known if she was going to live to see the next day so she slept with him to take her mind off things.

She used Risa and Kyran too. It had seemed more likely that she would survive with them and so she joined them purely out of selfish desire to live. While a friendship had formed, yes, initially she hadn't planned for that. She merely wishes to use them in order to get herself somewhere safe.

She looked at Elthrael and then to Risa and Kyran as she listened to Umber continue. Rage continued to bubble in her, but was it because what he now spoke was also true? Why was she treated as worthless by others? Angry tears filled her eyes and it became a struggle to keep the flames under her skin at bay. She glanced to the elderly looking elf beside her now. She wanted to burn him, to burn them, to set everything ablaze. Before that could happen, however, the pitch black was gone and she stood one her pyre. Panic rose in her once again as she watched the elf toss a torch onto the pyre. She let out a horrified scream as she shut her eyes and shook her head. "No, no, no! This isn't real! It's not real!" She yelled, her eyes still shut tight. Why was this happening? Were the gods angry with her? She hadn't made a sacrifice to them since arriving to Avalia, she'd been too preoccupied. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please forgive me!" She muttered as she began to rock a bit. "This isn't real. It can't be real!" She began saying over and over again, but then suddenly something washed over her, a calmness. Whether it was the gods answering her or her mind was finally realizing the truth of things, she didn't know. Instead she slowly opened her eyes and looked to Umber, a horrifying smirk crossing her face now.

"Funny that you think I'd trust you to help me. You said it yourself, I don't trust anyone so why would you think I'd accept your help?" She asked him as she reached under her dress and grabbed a dagger she had hidden there before going to the ball. She looked at the dagger briefly before placing the blade on her palm and slicing it open. She began chanting a prayer in Gaelic as she let the blood drip to the ground, offering a blood sacrifice to her gods. She then dipped two fingers into the blood and began drawing symbols across her face as she continued to chant. Finally she looked to Umber once more. "Enough of these mind games. Next time why don't you actually face me. I'll prove my worth to everyone and I bloody don't need anyone's help doing it." She said as she walked through the flames before snapping her fingers and lighting the place Umber stood on fire.

After leaving the ball, Azriel had a lot of time to herself to think. She had no destination, no one to talk to, for the first time since she was a child she was all alone. As she flew over the trees of the forest, she first asked herself why she was so upset with Umber? Was it really just because she was jealous? That was definitely part of it, she decided. It was what started everything and her thinking. As she thought more on it, however, she began to realize there was much more to it. All her life, Umber had caused her to believe that the other races were the problem. They were the cruel ones who would never accept her. That they would treat her like a monster because she was broken, but then she danced with that winter fairy. He didn't treat her like she was any monster, in fact he even was kind to her. Darius also didn't treat her like a monster and he even knew more of her true nature. If the other races would truly hate her, then why did these two treat her with such kindness? Just how much did Umber warp her thinking?

Her thoughts then moved on to who she would have been if Umber never took her in and her parents never died. Her parents. Those were two people she hadn't thought of in a very long time. She was so little when they died, she couldn't even recall their faces. Or was that just something else Umber took from her? It took a lot of thinking, but what she could vaguely remember was a song her mother would sing to her. She'd felt a warmth at the memory and something else. A foreign emotion to her, but the emotion involuntarily made her tear up. Love? Is that what this emotion was? How could she not understand what love felt like? This was the question that brought her aimless flying to a halt and she had to land. She knew she was somewhere in the River Kingdom now, but where she was at wasn't clear. She sat herself against a tree as her mind wandered. Would her parents have been a part of the rebellion or would they have been loyal to Aklenroth? Was she truly loyal to Aklenroth or was that loyalty merely something that stemmed from her loyalty to Umber? There were so many questions whirling through her mind that the next day went by in a blur.

At some point she had fallen asleep, but now she was being awoken by the sound of voices. Azriel opened her eyes and glanced around, trying to get her bearings. It was quite obviously evening again and she still sat against a tree. Slowly she stood and made the decision to head towards the commotion, but kept completely silent and out of sight as she approached. She soon came upon the scene of a male fairy brutally beating a female fairy. Upon closer inspection she realized she recognized both fairies. The male was the first dark fairy that Aklenroth had created along with the help of Umber. Helio viciously beat the pink haired fairy whom Azriel recognized as the rebel leader. Risa looked to be in quite poor shape, but Azriel did nothing for now and let the scene play out. She wasn't entirely surprised when Helio left her alive, yet trapped within a grave. The man was cruel and twisted, Umber would be so proud. Perhaps it was this thought that caused Azriel to do what she did next.

She waited till Helio was long gone before moving to the grave and glancing down at the barely visible Risa. "It seems you're in quite the predicament, little princess...or should I say little queen?" She said as she flew down into the grave and began inspecting the vines. She pulled at a few, attempting to break them and soon realized she would need some assistance. She plucked a mithril covered feather from her wings and got to work cutting and pulling the vines away. It took some time, but she was finally able to free the lid of the casket. Her hands were bloodied and raw, but she ignored that as she pulled the lid off. "Now it won't do if you die here slowly tonight so how about you tell me where I need to take you so you can be healed?" Azriel asked the girl as she lifted her out of the casket.

The blue mist that stood before the group immediately put Torvi on high alert as her eyes scanned the mist. As she did this, however, she missed the feral look of Kuroi. She attempted to reach out with her earth magic, trying to feel the vibrations in the ground below them like she had before. She could sense the clones as they approached and possibly one other further into the mist, but the water made it hard to determine where this person was as it caused for a mix of vibrations.

She was pulled from her focus, however, as sharp pain shot up her arm and she gasped. She looked swiftly to the source and saw it was Kuroi. A rage filled her as the pain caused adrenaline to course through her body. At first her mind urged her to attack Kuroi, but she still had enough sense to know now wasn't the time. Instead she decided to harness this rage and put it to good use elsewhere. She turned her focus to the clones that approached, gaze finally landing on the Kuroi clone. If she couldn't punish the real Kuroi for harming her then this clone would do nicely in his place. A bloodthirsty grin crossed over Torvi's face as she now gripped the sword she'd taken from a guard earlier. Before anyone could stop her, she shoved past the real Kuroi and let out a battle cry as she went for the Kuroi clone. The ground began to rumble some as her magic responded to her emotions. The sword came crashing down towards the clone with barbaric strength and brutality, yet surprisingly quite a bit of skill.

Elsea had heard faintly of some person once named Christopher Columbus, but truly didn't know much about him. She also knew that there was some new land somewhere to the west that people were beginning to become interested in, but beyond that she knew nothing about it. Scotland seemed to have enough problems of their own currently with the clans still warring, a king having come in trying to force his religion upon everyone, and England beginning to show interest in wanting Scotland for themselves, there wasn't much time for them to worry about some new land.

She began to open her mouth to respond to Cora's question, but what happened next stopped her and made her blood run cold. Cade started going off about Ayita and calling for Elsea and Cora to follow. Cora appeared to have seen a ghost and wasn't too happy about it. Elsea, however, heard a voice that was faintly familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. She glanced around her, searching for the culprit, as anger began to rise inside her. How would this person know of her clansmen? Did they have Risa or Kyran? This thought alone made her ready to fight, she would turn anyone who may harm Risa or Kyran to ash. "And of what concern is it to you on who I trust and who I don't? These two seem far more trustworthy than a coward like you that hides in the shadows. How about you show yourself and then we can have a real conversation?" The flames wanted to burst forth from her as the anger bubbled in her, but she kept it under control. Best not to reveal her hand until it was necessary. Cora, on the other hand, was quick to use her fire, but against what Elsea was unsure.

"Whatever you two are seeing, it isn't real! Something is messing with us!" She yelled at Cora and Cade, trying to snap them out of it.

Perfect. The response she'd gotten from Elthrael was exactly what Kenia was hoping for. "Oh my, it appears I've gotten under someone's skin." She said with a giggle before giving a devilish grin to the moth. "And thank you for recognizing my superior age! I do take pride in it." The woman truly couldn't care less what his thoughts were on her appearance, but she did find it very humorous that one moment he was speaking highly of her curves and when she didn't respond favorably he turned to trying to insult her appearance. Hac she really hurt his pride that much?

Her attention was then pulled to Vaeril as he seemed to drunkenly stumble towards Darius. She narrowed her eyes at him as he spoke to Darius as if they were very close. Darius even mentioned Vaeril owing him when they got home which would insinuate they definitely knew each other for awhile. How incredibly lucky they were to be able to stick together after the shit show that happened at the ball while herself and the others seemed to have been separated from their groups. While she was suspicious of everyone, there were some that were more suspicious than others. Vaeril was suspicious purely due to the fact that he was the host of the ball. Sure he could be innocent in it all, but it made the suspicion worse when it was his greeter who summoned the demon. Darius had become suspicious purely from the fact that he was an acquaintance of Vaeril. Both Elthrael and Zephyrin were suspicious due to them just appearing out of the blue. The only one that had gained a tiny amount of trust with her was Bowyn and his bird, Boreas. Even then, though, she would watch them closely.

"I'll trust that you can keep up, but know that if you can't I will not slow my pace. That goes for everyone. If you fall behind I have no qualms about leaving you to find your own way." And with that Kenia began swiftly setting the course. They had a lot of ground they needed to cover and she was motivated by her separation from her makeshift family. Even though she moved swiftly, if one were to pay attention they'd notice her foot falls were silent. She chose her course carefully and skillfully. She also tried to keep the breeze blowing towards them so if something were ahead of them those with a superior sense of smell would detect them before the enemy could smell the group. She was carefully calculating things and constantly scanning their surroundings as they moved along.

"Some may be more dependable than others." Kenia said in response to Zephyrin as her eyes glanced over to Elthrael. She doubted how dependable he would be. The man decided to leave the group last night and build himself a shelter. The lack of offering to build a shelter for all of them spoke a lot to Kenia about the type of person he was. He was selfish, that was very clear.

She'd turned back to her pack, going through it once more to take inventory of what she had as she listened to the others. At Elthrael's words towards her she considered for a moment hurling the throwing dagger she was glancing at in her pack at him, but Bowyn's words made her pause. She decided she liked this winter fairy. He could be blunt and had quite the sharp tongue. She enjoyed this much more than flowery words much like Elthrael liked to use. She'd have to thank Bowyn later for helping keep her from losing her temper.

"You caught me, Elthrael. I had QUITE an image in my head. You know I've always fantasized about castrating a man and feeding him his own balls and I couldn't help imagine you being the perfect candidate. Care to help me in fulfilling this fantasy?" She asked as she stood and slung her pack over her shoulder, giving the moth man a sadistic grin. Scarily enough there was something in her eyes that said she wasn't joking about this.

She then turned to Darius and her grin turned into an appreciative one. "That'll be very helpful, thank you Darius." She then glanced at everyone else, eager to get moving. "Shall we?" She asked, though truth be told even if they weren't ready she was going to start heading out shortly.

Apparently Elsea had really needed some sleep and hadn't realized it as the instant they got settled in the cave she fell asleep hard. There were no dreams that graced her that night nor were there nightmares. Just solid, heavy sleep. The stresses of the day...no, the stresses of the entire time she'd been in Avalia were beginning to take their toll so it was no surprise that she didn't hear either Cade or Corvina awake. She also didn't initially hear their talking either. What actually woke her was the smell of breakfast.

Her eyes opened and she lay there for a minute staring up at the ceiling of the cave. She blinked a few times as she tried to gain her bearings and that's when the voices of the other two began to register with her. She listened for a moment, taking note of someone in a tribe, feeling slight confusion as where she came from they no longer lived in tribes. Once they did, but now they were separated out into clans that were overseen by lairds and those lairds were overseen by a king. Where had this person they were talking about come from that still had tribes?

Then something else caught her attention and she found herself finally sitting up and looking to her companions, or more specifically, to Cora. "Where in the bloody hells is the United States of America?" She looked at the girl in complete and utter confusion, having never heard of this place before. She moved so she too was now sitting with them and noticed the food that was cooking. She glanced over to Cade who seemed to be the one that had caught the food and gave him a smile.

"Thank you for breakfast, it looks absolutely delicious." Elsea said as she grabbed some of the meat. She was no stranger to eating rat before, having done so multiple times back home. When times were hard you had to make do with whatever you could get your hands on and sometimes that required eating rats.

Torvi had been rather silent the entire night as they made their way through the slums. She only spoke when the need arose and even then it was simple responses to questions. When they would come across those that wished them harm she would assist Kuroi, taking notice that he preferred not to kill many of the guards. She didn't quite understand it, but she followed his lead there. There was no sense in upsetting the one who was leading them out of the city.

Now she stood on the street looking down and the entrance to the sewers. She hadn't really understood what a sewer was, but now that she could smell it she was piecing things together. While the smell was unpleasant, it didn't compare to the smell of a corpse that had been sitting for days in the summertime. That was a smell that had graced her nose quite a few times as she often was one to help prepare a body to be sent off to Valhalla.

As the others made their way into the sewers, the exhaustion apparent on everyone's faces, she remained above ground for a moment. She began ripping at the bottom of her dress, making stops of semi-clean cloth. Once she finished, Torvi tied one of the pieces around her face to cover her nose and mouth. The makeshift mask helped lessen the smell a bit and she hoped it would help the others as well.

She made her way down into the sewer and looked at her companions briefly. Everyone was worn out, Ayita and Kuroi especially it seemed. While she was feeling it as well and would be lying if she said she wouldn't enjoy taking a break, but she knew they needed to get out of there. She handed one of the strips of cloth to Ayita as she watched poor Kuroi collapse. She then moved to Baraian and held out the scrap of cloth as she listened to him speak and offer to help support one of them. "You will have to forgive me, but I will likely continue to be skeptical of you until it is absolutely proven to me that you mean no harm. It may be unfair, but it's hard to trust a dark elf when it seems like the rest of your people want me dead. I can not help but wonder if you have ulterior motives." She told him bluntly before moving on to Kuroi.

She did her best to help the man back up, using what little strength she still had before offering him the cloth and her own shoulder for support. "Perhaps if we support each other it'll give us just the right amount of strength to get us out of here and then we can rest a bit more comfortably." She offered him a weak smile, trying to be a little encouraging at least.
