I hope you guys like Kobolds.
EDIT: I think I am done now.

@Asura Fighter level 3, yes. If you wanted to branch out again, you’d need a cumulative level of 6, of any combination

If we choose not to take certain elements of the starting kit, can we re-emburse it for some value of coin? Or is it just you lose it.
<Snipped quote by CollectorOfMyst>

So if I wanted to go fighter/rogue I'd need to be fighter 6 first?

From what hes saying, you need to be at least fighter 3 to take rogue
I hate to ask a rookie question... But I will.

I'm a little confused by feats. Are they optional in 5e? Does the DM have to say that feats are allowed or not? And if that is the case, can we use feats in this game?

Its up to the DM if we use them or not in 5e so I won't say anything there.

To explain the feats in 5e.

Every fourth class level, as noted on the chart, you can choose an ability point improvement or you can forgo it for a feat.

Unlike previous editions, you do not get a feat at level 1, unless you are a human.

Another very important note is its every FOURTH CLASS LEVEL. If you go to fighter level three, and then rogue level one... You do not get a Ability score improvement and consequently no feat. Even though you are level 4. These are locked to your class advancement table. So youd need fighter 4 and Rogue 1 to get that improvement at character level 5.
So, do you guys want an example character sheet or no? It’ll more or less give you an idea of what I’m expecting, though it might be a little on the high end of things. I’m almost finished with the application sheet, just figuring out the code for a few more things that I might give up on, but I can have them both done in about twelve hours, accounting for my college hours.

Up to you. Code as in BB code? Or are you building an xml
@CollectorOfMyst

In my experience, kenkus are capable of resolving things peacefully. But they do so differently. A kenku can also still speak, provided fhey built up a catalog of voices with different words spliced together.

Kinda like how bumblebee rapidly scans radios to speak in the transformer movies.
@Tangletail Well, you've got me excited now... so even if it's not your first character, I expect it to be your second after the first has their untimely demise, of course

I do have a few in mind. I'm trying to figure out how to make em work.
@DTHar Certainly!

@Tangletail So long as that's not your whole character arc

Oh trust me, I'm not that bad.
@LordOfTheNight Everyone starts somewhere! I reckon I'm pretty good at helping new players ease into things, and we do seem to have other experienced people here, so if there are any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

@Dogematix I feel ya, man. I really feel you... sorry, I'll keep my hands to myself. But yeah, if you want in, all you have to do is apply!

So, there are a good nine people interested in this game - and I'm really only willing to take six players, seven at a stretch, much as I hate to turn someone away. However, I assure you, I will give each of you fair consideration when the character sheets start to come in - I'll be adding the code and an example into the original post in the next couple of days. I advise you to start thinking about your characters now. And I can't stress this enough - make me want to know the character. Your character doesn't need to be fully fleshed out right away, but the basic concept is vital. Interesting is investing, and if you have a hook/want me to provide one, all the better.

Some basic info;
  • We're going by 27-point buy rules here for your Ability Scores - if you don't know what that means, say so and I'll explain.
  • All races, class options, backgrounds from the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, Elemental Evil, and Volo's Guide to Monsters (plus Tortle Package) are permitted, excluding the Yuan-Ti and Triton races.
  • Anything from UA, Mordenkainen's, Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron, and Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica are not permitted. Homebrew content is also disfavourable, but if you really want to use homebrew content, PM me the details and I'll consider it.
  • Anything I consider to be too dark or too inappropriate will not be considered. There are some general topics which you should probably steer clear of; use your imagination.
  • I will not be accepting characters on a first come, first serve basis. Speed helps, yes, but nobody has the exact same schedule.
  • You are free to make multiple characters, but for the initial application, you may only submit one.

I'm half tempted to roll a Kobold in a campaign about dragons.
