Right. Sheets are almost done, so my pair of space-faring fish-people should finally be joining this soonish. Whether I'll actually be active is another thing, but by tomorrow I'll know how busy my next couple weeks will end up being.
Was meaning to get back to this a while back, but project work continues to sap most of my spare time.
Probably for the best that this was ended, might've gone back and forth for a while as long as neither of us could land a successive attack. I'm still wondering why Jaldoa gave Chester time to recover from that fall, although - his ranged ability was made useless by all the trees, and he couldn't have defended a vertical hit while his Vertex was in the ground... Welp, GG in any case. I'll try to conclude this later, but tomorrow sounds like the best bet.

Also, feels good to finally be rid of that unicorn. Really, how do you even stand that thing? D:
Thanks, gotta say those portals sound real convenient.
Thinking on it more, I might just play that card after all. They seem to be tending towards evil the more I add to them, anyway.
Hm, so they should be investing in some sort of vehicle then.. That said, it might be tricky to justify them driving anything bigger than a two-wheeler. The 'they stole a spaceship' card could pass, but they're meant to be relatively lawful characters...
Nobody's earlier character mention (not the Sue) sounded ever slightly similar to what I'd planned for an Intermediate character in this thread. They're proving awfully difficult to draw although..
Meh, at least I'm almost done with my Low-tier character sheets, though they're in need of some goals and motives. If I can ask, how are characters expected to travel between worlds here, death aside? I figure that might play a large part in what they'll end up doing.
Man you're doing a great job of narrowing my options here =(. Hopefully I won't regret not attacking this turn.
Sorry these post times are still so rough, been involved with a few too many hobbies this week.
Chester readjusted his stance a little, slowly shifting weight back to his legs as the disorientation began to wear off. His opponent had finally taken to the ground, but had not veered from his methodical style of approach, concealing his angle amidst the branches and foliage. With the small amount of time the Human had, he drew another set of four coins from his jacket, a sure necessity if he planned on turning the tides.
Jaldoa's outline flashed sporadically between vines and branches, gradually but surely nearing to where Chester stood. Glancing past the creature's motions, his eyes noticed a second levitating anomaly a few steps beyond; while different to the one that ruined his day earlier, it at least left no doubt that his enemy was the one planting them. Would this device also shock him were he to near closer? If so, did his foe have a way not to trigger it himself? These questions and more were things Chester would have to question later, whenever Jaldoa was kind enough to give the chance.

Surely enough the gangly figure sprung for assault, closing in from Chester's right. Though quick enough to sight the approach, Chester barely got himself to turn towards the attack, pressing readily against the weight of Jaldoa's club slamming against his Vertex. In hindsight, making the Vertex longer than usual had turned against his favour - for Jaldoa had actively targeted the beam's centre, taking full advantage of its meagre durability. The enemy bounced back just as quickly after the strike, leaving him with a fractured mess of a staff which surely could not endure another of that calibre.

Chester lowered and tensed once more, and his Vertex was lifted back and beside his left; even if it was no good for cover, it could be useful so long as it was kept in one piece. Out of means for a suitable offence, he merely stood alert with his right hand drawn back, focused to react to Jaldoa's very next step.
I'm surprised to see I've missed this much of this Multiverse already... and pleased that it actually kicked off this well. I'll enjoy reading through some of the threads when I can catch a moment.
I have a particular duo I might consider jumping in with later, except there doesn't seem to be any other Low-tiered characters that have joined, and scaling them up might be a stretch. I suppose it is a pair although, so maybe two low-intermediate characters will work out. There's also that I'll be waiting until I can spare the time to join more than one RP again, so with any luck there'll be someone to hook up with by then.
The forest's choruses signalled that Jaldoa had once again taken to the trees, and was moving far more hastily than before. Chester could have risked a few more seconds' rest if he was somewhere visible, but the opponent had been smart enough not to give him that relief. Strained as he was, he would have to use his failsafe far sooner than he would have liked.
With a sudden heave his right arm reached out, tossing the third coin he had held onto for such an emergency. Both hands clung to the 5-foot neon beam which followed, appearing at a perfect reach above where he lay.
The other end was attached to the last of his coins on-hand, and was angled to stick into the floor. With the Vertex's force and a stifled grunt, Chester was able to propel himself aside -- just barely before the blade of a throwing knife swept beneath his shoulder, and cut shallowly into the tree stump behind. It had nicked the material of his sleeve without sound, but no blood was apparent, at least to Chester's hopes.

He was upright, now, albeit poorly balanced as he relied on his new staff for support. He stood at an angle, his arms held high upon the Vertex which crossed diagonally before him. His legs ached a little under his weight, and his opponent was almost directly ahead - but despite Chester's unfavourable situation, he was not yet out of stratagems...
Blagh, and then it still took until the weekend for me to resurrect D: Either way things should be smoother from here on out.
