And it's impossible to edit a status. Wonderful. I meant to say my hard drive is down; I'm working out of a flash drive now.

Whoops. That's one flash drive destroyed. Kids, take good care of your toys! For those concerned, thank you! I don't have any storage, but I do have access to a browser; roleplaying continues!

Ah! That's what this is! It's my old role-player guild account!

Hello, folks, from a friend new and old. Old in that I spent many happy hours fictating way back in Old-Guild before Lost Christmas, and then I spent some time in New-Guild during its beginning development; new in that I've been gone for two years, so a lot of the "faces" I was familiar with back then don't seem to be haunting the place these days. Whether you've known me before or not, I extend to you a hearty greeting and a virtual feast. If you'd like a name shorter than the full one, please call me Taro. I'm rather comfortable with that one.

Well, you didn't come here just to hear about my history. You're probably looking to see what kind of a role-player I am. Truthfully, I'm not totally certain right now; two years without practice does bring on a multitude of changes. Then again, even in those two years I've kept the creative spark fed and fanned, in isolation though it may have been, and I can tell you this much with great certainty:
I like light-hearted laughter, soul-searching questions, and that precipice of commitment.
My favorite settings would be:
High Fantasy
Modern Fantasy
Science Fiction (new worlds, a newer Earth, even just in the immensity of space)
I consider it a given that, where boys and girls coexist in a story, Romance will blossom.
Horror I have a very weak stomach for. (I read the basic instructions for Betrayal at House on the Hill and had to consciously tell myself that night that everything was fine and I would sleep safely. I didn't even play a game; I only read the instructions!)
I stay away from graphic violence, sexual depictions of any nature, and profanities. I'm very much a PG-rated writer; I plan on sharing everything I write as bedtime stories with my kids someday.

I play a convincing dude (I'm sure you never would have guessed that), but a vast majority of my favorite characters are female. So if you have romance in mind, I'm happy to play either party. If you don't want a romance, you will probably have to tell me that plainly. Then I'll just go with what feels right for the story, subject to a few personal whims which I hope will only bolster the plot and development.

I'm very picky as far as my own ideas go. I'll try just about everything I can think of to break the idea in order to insure there are no gaping plot holes. I invite everyone else to examine my ideas in a similar light--different people, different thought processes, different problems discovered--and to offer any compliments or constructive criticisms you have. As part of that, I absolutely love pushing the boundary of an idea as far as it will stretch, or looking for that odd, "I never thought of using it like that" approach to a character's abilities.

What else would I say with this space? I really like old poetry; reading Isaiah gives me the happy trembles. I hope I've presented a fair assessment of my writing style and capabilities through this brief introduction. I love creating--creating characters and bringing them to life from the page; creating worlds filled with fascinating lore and beautiful locales; creating stories, be they narrations of ordinary men and women facing their trials or epics of fated heroes overcoming every obstacle to save Dwarf-kind.

And, in closing, I'm excited for the chance to work with you. I should be able to post daily. PM me anytime, especially if you have a question about anything I've said here or elsewhere, but even if you only want to chat. You could even ask me about my mysterious two-year absence. I'll tell you now that I was in California, but that doesn't really answer the question. I'm happy to talk anytime.

Sweet water and light laughter until next we meet!
-Taro

Alisea will voice no objection to moving forward without delay.
Alisea - mage
Health: 400/400
Mana: 1100/1200

It wasn't what Alisea had in mind. Analysis would have to wait until after the battle. The wolf Dirk was supposed to be holding had run past the warrior and now aimed for Reylan's throat. Alisea ran to intercept it even as Reylan drew back another arrow. His attack struck first, and she watched the last of the wolf's HP drop. It was too late to stop her momentum now, though.

As the archer spun away, Alisea barreled past him and into the beast. Her right fist struck first, but she held off on using any Action; there was no use beating a dead wolf. Instead, she pushed herself back off the creature as quickly as she could and looked back at the fight. Reylan already had his next arrow notched; and between that, Aster, and Dirk, the remaining two wolves hadn't time enough for a retaliation. Even if a single wolf still stood, Dubstepp's finger lightning cost half any of Alisea's attacks. Her part in the fight was over. She looked back at the other mage briefly, not quite frowning but certainly not smiling at him.

The magess turned away with a small sigh. He had deliberately chosen cheaper spells to make his mana last; that was an unexpected show of wisdom on his part. She would likely leave clean-up to him through the entire dungeon.

"As long as I'm not needed there," Alisea muttered, smiling to herself. She placed on hand on her chest. "Chakra Magic," she commanded, and her smile deepened as her MP rose--just a bit.

Summary:
Alisea (str 1) punches (corpse of) Wolf 1
Alisea (int 15) casts Chakra Magic on self
Welp. Whichever it was, I hereby designate the wolf on the far right "Wolf 3."
Alisea - mage

Reylan was taking charge. It began with a speech--a short declaration she could assume gave at least himself motivation--and sashayed into him giving orders--in an almost polite way. It wasn't the greatest example of leadership Alisea had seen, but in this case she was happy to follow. "Conserve as much as possible" was already on her agenda; although, nobody brings a mage to a dungeon just to babysit.

Every person in his and her place. Alisea could see the three large wolves that would be their opponents. The mobs' grouping made luring one impossible, but Reylan expressed his confidence they could handle all three at once without suffering heavy damages--expressed it by drawing back his first arrow and taking aim. For a moment time stalled. Adrenaline seeped into Alisea's blood. Her pulse quickened, her breathing grew quick and shallow. The corners of her lips drew up.

With the strum of a bowstring, the battle began.

Sliding sideways to give herself a line of sight past Dirk's sword arm, Alisea raised her hands and called to mind her chosen spell. Reylan's arrow sank into the first wolf; Alisea followed quickly by invoking a Frost Bite on the second, the one farthest right. Her focus was on its forelegs, first up high where they connected to its torso and then down toward its paws--everything she could burn to slow its movement. Dirk would have an easier time if they didn't both come at the same moment; and beside that, Alisea needed some mana depleted to test the spell Chakra Magic.
@Ithradine Which wolf is Wolf 1? Aster's or one of Dirk's?
Are we going in with the formation Alisea was thinking? Aster and Dirk (and Toto) at front; Reylan and Alisea at mid; and Dubstepp and Karma at rear.
Taro#0753 . Just another of those folks that only has it for Guild business.
That is beyond disturbing.

I Discord. I wouldn't want to unless everyone agrees, though; the OOC chat falls largely silent when people are using the Discord chat room, and I don't want somebody to be left out. Unanimity or bust!
@TaroAndSelia

Reylan is pretty good at talking to NPCs and making Art. I have some points in smiting so I can do that if no one else does. A few points in sword-wielding wouldn't hurt so I can actually use my rapier!

Smiting or Smithing? ;)
.... basically Skills and people who can do stuff matter lol!

Yes! At last, a game that favors crafters! Alisea could pick up Firebuilding. Her strength attribute is nil, so any gathering skills would be wasted (woodcutting, mining, etc.). Somebody picking up a construction skill wouldn't be bad; he could learn enough to build a lean-to for shelter at night. Dirk's searching doubles as a foraging ability, but botany would be a good supplement to that so he knows which berries are edible and which are poisonous. Two or three people with a detection skill can become the night watch--Dubstepp being the first candidate as he prefers the night hours anyway. Hmm... What else...
